A fixture on the AHL Buffalo Bisons back in the day.
-
Here are some of the other 1 gamers for the Sabres and for their careers. Michel Deziel - appeared in 1 playoff game and that was the only NHL game of his career. Ouch Jeff Eatough - an emergency OHL recall - only NHL game of his career. Francois Quay - former 8th rd pick played 1 game despite being a 1pt a game guy in the AHL. Trent Kaese - another 8th rd pick who managed a single NHL game. Sean McMorrow - see Taese and Quay, except he was a fighter David Moravec - a 4th straight 8th rd pick on this list who appeared in 1 game. He is a strange one. He was an established player in the Czech Republic, appeared in one game for the Sabres and that was his only game in NA. No AHL or other games for other organizations. Weird. We also can't forget the 3rd Ramsey, Wayne. While Craig Ramsay is 2nd in games played for the Sabres at 1070 and Mike Ramsey 3rd at 911, old Wayne played 2.

Ralph Krueger would have loved Cloutier.

Colin Stuart. I wrote a blurb about the brothers who played for the Sabres and I came across Colin Stuart, brother of long-time NHL D Mark Stuart. He played 5 games for the Sabres, and I can honestly say I had no idea until I looked it up.

We also should mention our 3 coaches whose brothers played in the NHL. Ron Rolston is All-star Brian Rolston's older brother. Current HC Don Granato is All-star Tony Granato's younger brother. Neither Ron or Don played in the NHL. Lastly, the great Marcel Pronovost, who was the Sabres coach for a season and a half in the late 1970s, was the best of the 3 NHL playing Pronovost brothers.

I used to think this. We have had so many brothers over the years. Ultimately that scales are somewhat in our favor. We certainly had the better Miller brother. We also drafted the better Turgeon, Playfair, McKegney, Biron, and Reinhart and so far the best Mittelstadt. We also acquired the better Stanfield, Drury and Thompson brother. DR acquired the better Pyatt (Taylor) in the Peca deal and Jbot acquired the better Gionta brother Brian. We drafted 3 glaring "lesser" brothers in Nylander, Primeau, and Gretzky, but Wayne Primeau had a very solid career. Did you know that Wayne and Keith actually had an in game fight when Wayne played for the Sabres? We probably also drafted the lesser Seiling but it's close. We drafted the lesser Foligno, but Marcus was still an excellent player for us. Truthfully we should have also drafted Nick instead of Persson. We also acquired the lesser Dryden. I also don't think Gilles Hamel was a good as his brother Jean. We also now have the lesser Subban. In all likelihood we drafted the lesser Guhle brother. We drafted the lesser Moller and the lesser Patrick, but in both cases the better brother also played for the Sabres (James and Randy). We also had both Sauve brothers (Bob drafted by us and JF signed as an UDFA) and both O'Reilly brothers. In the brief time in Buffalo category we have the following. I'm not sure what to call Eric Staal's visit to Buffalo. I do think Marc is the best of the Staal brothers, but all 3 brothers have had noteworthy careers. We also briefly had the better Paiement, Nolan, and Regehr brother but the lesser Niedermayer. The shortest stint for a brother is Colin Stuart's 5 games in Buffalo, which I don't even remember. I need to mention him in the Obscure Thread. His brother Mark was a solid D for Boston and WPG. EDIT: I forgot the great John Gould, whose 92 games for the Sabres were more then brother Larry's 2 total NHL games. The crazy thing is that I remember most of these players. I didn't remember Colin Stuart or that Jean Hamel was Gilles' brother. Did I miss anyone?

https://theahl.com/penguins-acquire-nylander-from-blackhawks .... and the journey continues. Worst pick by TM and best trade by JBot?
-
They'll be gone by the deadline if not sooner.

Dahlin and Jokiharju are the only NHL D signed for next season. Power and Samuelsson will likely be in the lineup completing the LHD group (unless Matt moves to RD). That leaves two starting jobs (on the right side) and at least one bench job for Bryson (LHD), Fitzgerald (RHD), Laaksonen (RHD) and Psysk (RHD) (if re-signed). I don't think Johnson is NHL ready, but who knows until he gets here. I have a feeling that management will want another proven vet in the lineup. I can see someone like Bryson being moved to make room for an acquired vet. Could Pysyk be re-signed? I'd say probably with a raise over this season, to keep some veterans on the roster, especially if KA fails to acquire a better veteran player.

Honestly I don’t remember. We had some billeted kids. He was a freshman when I was a senior. Thomas and Laettner were in 8th grade.
-
Peter and Scott played for Nichols not to long after I did. Peter wasn’t born in WNY if I remember correctly.
-
There was a 3rd Sabre Olympian in 1980; Eric Strobel. He broke an ankle in a playoff game for the Amerks that season and retired from hockey.

Rostislav Klesla
-
Probably long-term, but not now. JJP isn't ready for the NHL, while Murray is already an effective NHL player.
-
Should they send UPL down also once Anderson gets healthy or does this send everyone down theory only apply to skaters?
-
Mr. Brown, Vontae Davis on line 1. What does he want? He wants to thank you for ending the need for his meme.
-
Actually that and some NHL time may have helped him
-
Nick Polano
-
Thank you Ralph Krueger.
-
Morris Titanic, a high draft pick that sank. Drafted 12th overall and played 19 NHL games for the Sabres with Zero points.
-
Krebs, as I also noted, should have been drafted higher. He has a much higher ceiling then Lazar ultimately had, but he is a much different style of player.
-
Brian Perry
-
....and Murray is still in the top 9.
-
Don't know. Don't care. He is one of our 9 best forwards right now and lets see where he stands, how he plays and what role he is given if and when some of the guys on your list return from injury and Covid. Let's say all the guys return healthy, including Jankowski and with Krebs also in the lineup. We'll be able to field a roster with 4 talented and hard working lines without having to play Hayden, Caggiula, Bjork or even Eakin. That would be awesome. It might look something like this Skinner Thompson Tuch Olofsson Krebs Okposo Murray Cozens Hinostroza Girgensons Jankowski Asplund
