  1. Former Bill Chris Hogan has retired.
  2. R2 needs to add about 20 pounds. He needs to be stronger on the puck.
  3. Geez, who does Weissbach remind me of…. R2, VO?
  4. https://theathletic.com/2839287/2021/10/22/re-drafting-the-2017-nhl-class-would-cale-makar-or-elias-pettersson-go-no-1-today/ Pronman’s 2017 re-draft 11. Mitts - possible top line player tier 31. Jokiharju - middle of the lineup tier 59. Bryson - projected to play in the NHL. Honestly this is low. He is close to being a full-time middle of the lineup player. 63. UPL - projected to play in the NHL. 82. Laaksonen - has a chance to make the NHL tier
  5. And Miller and Butcher are upgraded. Bjork needs to go also.
  6. I think anyone could play with JJP and be fine. He is already better then half the guys in Buffalo. That said, I'm not really worried about Quinn either.
  7. I just finished scanning through the game. I have to say that 1st goal was BS. It took that little rat two crosschecks to knock Dahlin down. Instead of a goal that rat should been in the penalty box.
  8. First player recalled - Murray Congratulations to those who picked Murray
  9. If you are at or near hockey 500 your a mediocre team. 75 pts with some exception puts most teams at 25th or better in the NHL over the last decade. To get to 75 pts you have to win 32-35 games. While not even good, it's not terrible either. Most years there is usually a cliff down to the truly bad teams. Once you get to around 90 pts you are a decent to good team. However teams with 90 pts, while competing for a playoff spot, often finish 20-22nd in the overall league standings.
  10. When do they hit the panic button in Montreal. The Habs now 0-5.
  11. One thing that is also becoming clear is DG wants his guys to fill out this roster. I wondered why KA took Bjork in the Hall deal, signed a stiff like Hayden or acquired Butcher. The answer is pretty clear now after reading this Athletic article on Hayden. KA went out and got guys DG has established relationships with. https://theathletic.com/2905903/2021/10/21/a-different-type-of-player-sabres-turn-to-john-hayden-for-versatility-size-and-a-missing-physical-edge/ According to the article, Bjork, Malone (AHL), MacInnis (AHL), Hayden, Butcher and Eichel played for DG at the USNTDP. FYI Hurley, Compher and Fasching were also on those teams.
  12. Amerks may have the best Uni’s in hockey.
  13. I'd define good as in the conversation for a playoff spot or better. I think teams between 75 and 85 points are mediocre.
  14. Let me begin by saying I love what I have seen so far from this team. I like how DG has utilized his players and the excellent effort so far. Admittedly 3 games isn't much to go on, but when coupled with how the guys played for DG last season, I don't think it's going to far on a limb to say we'll see this kind of effort all season. I am still very worried about the goaltending but so far so good. Hopefully Joki and Mitts return will on the Western road trip. I also went and looked at our schedule going forward and there is reason to hope that sustaining the effort from the first 3 games will continue to yield positive results. Here is the breakdown: Assumed playoff caliber Teams (7) - Bos (2), TB, Tor, Wash, Edm, and Pit - hopeful record? 2-3-2 Teams with more talent on paper (2) - Mon and NYR - hopeful record? 1-1-0 Teams allegedly at or near our level (10) - NJ, Ana, SJS, LA, Sea (2), Det (2), Cgy, and CBJ - hopeful record? 6-3-1 If the Sabres are 12-7-3 after 22 games, can we then say we are actually good or at least very competitive. I actually think games 12-15 will really test this team and give us the best indication where they are at. They play @ Wash, Edm, Tor and then @ Pit. If we can get at least 4 points in those 4 games, I think it would prove that this team has taken a huge step forward.
  15. https://theathletic.com/2809951/2021/10/19/re-drafting-the-nhl-class-of-2020-tim-stutzle-moves-up-ranking-plus-the-biggest-changes-in-one-year/ Pronman also did a re-draft of 2020. JJP is up to 21 (we took him @ 34) in his middle of the lineup tier/starting goalie tier. Quinn (24th) and Levi (39th) are in the same tier
  16. I’d grab him and send R2 down and see what happens.
  17. Wow that was fast. Didn’t he score for them the other night?
  18. https://theathletic.com/2811497/2021/10/20/re-drafting-the-nhl-class-of-2019-would-jack-hughes-still-be-the-no-1-pick/ Pronman in a yesterday’s 2019 re-draft article on the Athletic has Johnson 29th ahead of D drafted 8th and 11th. He lists Johnson as a long term 2nd pairing D. He also has Cozens 4th and in his future all-star tier. He also has Portillo at 107 (we took him 67th). Despite comments to the contrary we actually started to draft better under Jbot. We have 5 of his prospects in the NHL (Dahlin, Mitts, Cozens, Bryson and undrafted R2), plus 3 more who have seen the NHL (UPL, Murray and Samuelsson). In addition he has 4 more tracking toward the NHL in Weissbach, Laaksonen, Portillo and Johnson. That’s a very good track record with only 18 picks and one UDFA.
