  1. Jack was the younger captain he didn’t turn 22 until the 12th game of 2018. Shoenfeld was already 22 when his season began (Sept Bday)
  2. He just thinks he is.
  3. I stand corrected. Shoeny and Eichel were both 22. I’ll give a hint on the oldest. He knows Savoie and Benson A hint on the shortest tenure. His tenure was 13 games before he was traded.
  4. Including the rotating and no to all your answers
  5. FYI: 17-18 - Guhle and Nelson 18-19 - Guhle, Pilut and Borgen 19-20 - Bryson, Pilut, Borgen and Fitzgerald 21-22 - Samuelsson Laaksonen 22-23 - 23-24 - Johnson, Novikov, plus Jandric, Metsa, Savoie
  6. I wouldn’t. I’ve been asking KA to get real goaltending since Ullmark left town. I even wrote above that Tokarski is better than either Comrie or UPL.
  7. A while back I went and compared UPL AHL numbers to the AHL numbers of goalies currently in the NHL. If memory serves I could not find a single starting goalie in the NHL with numbers worse than UPLs and only one or two backups with arguably similar numbers. Just compare Comrie to UPL. Comrie's AHL save % in seasons where he played 10+ games were .907, .906, .916, .917 and .918. UPL's .874, .888, .900 (also .898 in 9 games last year). Honestly Tokarski maybe the best of our non-Levi goalies.
  8. Who served as Captain of the Sabres for the least number of games? Who was the oldest player to serve as Captain of the Sabres? Who was the youngest player to serve as Captain of the Sabres?
  9. Lindy Ruff
  10. I sincerely doubt at this point they take the Shane Wright approach with Savoie. I don’t think he is ready to take a regular shift on a playoff caliber team and the Sabres are tight on roster spots to fool around. We all know he should be in the AHL, but he can’t. Let him and Benson team up to dominate the WHL, then play for Canada at the U20s and see how things go. Give Savoie and Benson clear instructions what the Sabres want them to work on such as strength and 2 way play.
  11. What are the odds that the Sabres make a significant addition (trade or signing) opening day? With 10D and 3G it’s easy to envision a subtraction or two, but not really any additions. Still the rumors persist. I’ve seen goalies Thompson, Markstrom and Hellebuyck on the Sabres radar. On defense I’ve seen Hanifin and Pesce. I’ve even seen one on Conor Garland to Buffalo. Despite all the rumors, I’d put the odds of a substantial deal or signing at 25 to 1.
  12. How many of the Pizza makers in Buffalo still age their dough? Anyone know if you get cup and char pepperoni online? I’ve never found it here.
  13. Sour dough isn’t the correct term I agree, but it was the only way that came to mind to describe the “aging” of the dough.
  14. I found the article. What the article said was that some Buffalo makers “ferment” their dough overnight to aid the texture. I remembered where I learned this as well also. Bob Galla, who owned Godfathers in Buffalo, “retired” to Atlanta and opened Galla pizza here told me when he opened his original shop here.
  15. I think this is the best answer and yes he played one game. Joel Armia is also a good answer.
  16. This is from the Athletic, but it’s a really good question. Who is the best NHL player to play only one game for the Sabres? This is not a guy who only played one NHL game in his career, but someone who had a reasonable to lengthy NHL career and for some reason only suited up for the Sabres for a single game. I looked up some candidates and there are some good ones.
  17. I grew up on Santora’s a d Bocce Club pizza. Are they still good or just hit and miss. Also I watched the Buffalo Style recipe video. Doesn’t Buffalo style include a sour-dough crust? Found this interesting article. https://www.visitbuffaloniagara.com/crawl/pizza/
  18. Another problem with these types of models is that always under estimate young teams. The guy mentioned that the “Sabres don’t have a replacement level goalie.” It’s clear that their model doesn’t have a good way to project Levi’s potential who will almost certainly be the Sabres’ starter in the fall. Last year these same models underestimated the improvement in TNT, Mitts and Cozens and ignored the positives of adding JJP and Quinn. Now this year’s version likely underestimates Greenway, Krebs, and the further development of JJP.
  19. Seriously? Quinn had 14 of the 293 goals the team scored last season. Losing Quinn for half the season is disappointing but it’s not exactly a death blow to the offense. The goaltending is potentially scary, except we know the worst case for Comrie and UPL and the Sabres proved last year they can still win with those two in net and Levi is an upgrade on both. Also their job should be easier next season as the upgraded defense helps limit the number of high danger chances against helping all 3 goalies. I believe that additions of Johnson and Clifton might be good for a reduction of at least 20 goals against.
  20. So a team that improved their defense, has a top 3 offense will regress by 7 points.
  21. What he does on the ice and how he acts in the lockerroom are ultimately the only things that matter. Don't forget he is playing for a UFA contract.
  22. https://theathletic.com/4700478/2023/07/19/sabres-trade-candidates-victor-olofsson/ The Atheltic’s list of Sabres who could be traded before the season begins. Not hard to figure out who could be sent packing. Forwards - VO Goalies - UPL or Comrie, with UPL likely having the most value Defense - Joki, Bush, Stillman and Bryson, with Joki having the most trade value and Bryson likely having little or none.
  23. https://theathletic.com/4665592/2023/07/19/nhl-draft-goalie-prospects-ranking/ Levi is the 3rd rated goalie prospect behind Wallstedt and Askarov, but ahead of Wolf. Ratzlaff made HM.
  24. I'm sorry, but I don't give him a pass for those types of errors. Even a quick amount of research into the Sabres show what the organization thinks of Neuchev and Novikov and that Pekar wasn't offered a contract.
  25. No two players are the same and VO has never been on Skinner's level as a player. However, the point still remains. We need to not be so hasty in our judgment of a player capable of scoring 25-30 goals in the NHL. There are only approx 75 players a year who score 25 goals and VO is one of those players. If you look back at some of the Skinner discussions a few years ago, many people thought he was washed up and done. Others wanted us to trade him at any cost. Does anyone want to trade him now? I'm not saying VO will completely overcome his D shortcomings (Skinner hasn't), but if he can become less of a liability while contributing offense, we'll have a good 3rd line depth scoring threat. If he doesn't KA will have to find a way to move on or live with it until Quinn returns.
