  1. They learned they screwed up going with the 3 headed goalie monster (with 3 inexperienced goalies no less) and handing the crease to a goalie with 7 games of NHL experience and no AHL time.
  2. I think he means Levi learned from being run into the ground by his coach. I don't think either goalie has earned anything. Levi was handed the job by KA/DG because KA refused to add legit veteran help and Levi was his prized prospect acquisition. UPL has been given chance after chance and continues to get chances because he is youngish and again KA refused to add legit veteran help despite playing at a subpar level. Career Numbers UPL - 51 games - .898 3.42; Levi - 12 games - .897 3.13 YTD 5 on 5 save % for the Sabres .901 ---- for the NHL .921 These guys have earned nothing. Sadly this is the hand that KA dealt the Sabres and Sabres fans. Expect mediocre goaltending or less the entire season. If we make the playoffs it will be again on the offense to score 4+ a night.
  3. The problem is what in KA’s history with the Sabres says he’d make a bold move in season to acquire talent to enhance his current roster?
  4. I should have said this season.
  5. Ok, but 4 good games to two bad games is a ratio I can live with. Yes UPL stole the 1st Philly games, but Jake Allen stole the Canadians game from us in the 1st 6. Those things tend to even out. I'll take an inconsistent team that scores 5 goals a night, as long as they continue to trend in the right direction. In theory, all games are winnable, but reason says that we'll lose to the Bruins and/or the Canes.
  6. Tanev would be a fine addition except who are you sitting when Mule returns? Mule, Power, and Dahlin are written in stone. EJ is playing very well. They invested 9 mill in Clifton, so I doubt he sits. That leaves Joki, who has played pretty well this season. The only way Tanev works without sitting someone is rotating Clifton, EJ, Tanev and possibly Joki. I don’t love that scenario.
  7. Tuch has points in 5 of the last 6 and the Sabres are 4-2. Thompson and Mitts also has points in 5 of the last six. The Sabres scores 13g in the first 6 games and have scored 26 in the last 6. Somethings are trending in the right direction. GA - first 6 - 18 GA (differential -5), next 6 20GA (differential + 6).
  8. Which two Sabres have been on the ice for more SHG scored vs PP goals allowed?
  9. The Sabres have 5 very winnable games in the next 6 (Car, Minn, Wpg, Pit, Bos and Chi). Win at least 4 of these 6 and I think we’ll all feel much better about contending for the playoffs.
  10. I was dead set against this and all forward trade ideas, but looking at today’s lines and how ineffective our bottom six has been, I’m reconsidering my opinion. Another Greenway type acquisition?
  11. Sabres are quickly becoming a walking MASH unit like the Bills. The Sabres have 5 (Biro, Mule, Comrie, Benson and Quinn) players on IR and Cozens day to day. Enough already.
  12. No, I believe he was on an emergency recall. Rousek is still waived exempt.
  13. Why would we trade for forwards? Seriously. We need goaltending and we need accountability.
  14. Rick Jeanneret Ryan Johnson R2J2 With Eric Johnson it would be R2J3
  15. If you are going down this road, might as well go the whole Star Wars road with R2J2.
  16. The stat is about 75% per season. That means about two teams from each conference that aren't in a playoff spot at Thanksgiving make the playoffs. Stl and Fla last year were one of those 2 teams. So who would you rather be part of the 75% in a playoff spot or one of the other 10 teams fighting for two slots?
  17. If we wait to figure things out until after Thanksgiving it will be too late. Historically the majority of playoff teams are in a playoff spot by American Thanksgiving. https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/why-nhl-standings-at-u-s-thanksgiving-have-huge-playoff-implications/ https://www.forbes.com/sites/carolschram/2022/11/25/its-thanksgiving-time-to-assess-the-nhls-2022-23-playoff-picture/?sh=5fc205c14cd9 Last season in the East the following teams were in a playoff spot (using pts %) Atlantic - Boston, Tor, Det Metro - NJD, NYI, Car WC - TB, Pitt 6/8 (75%) made the playoff, with Pit missing out by losing on the last day of the season. Det faded quickly and the NYR surged to replace them. PS the West was no different (6/8 or 75%)- Dal, Colo, Wpg, LV, Sea, LA, Calg and STL. Stl crumbled and Calg fell out late to be replaced by Minn and Edm.
  18. I said coach, not a fake motivational speaker who knows absolutely nothing about coaching (or hockey). Don't forget DG is a holdover from that staff. Remember when coaches used to hold players accountable for terrible play?
  19. Just what we need, a declining small forward on a terrible contract. I have an idea, how about we acquire some goaltending and hire a coach willing to bench top forwards who aren't helping out on defense.
  20. The OP asks why not Kulich? The answer is simple, management wants to know about the veteran prospects like Biro & Rousek and is still juggling Benson and Savoie. There is still concern about Kulich’s and Rosen’s 200 foot games.
  21. I just realized the Sabres played 11-7 tonight with Johnson and Bryson basically splitting the 6th D slot. The Sabres also only played 9 forwards most of the night with VO and Krebs playing about 8 minutes each. A win is a win, but the whole team has to be better.
  22. You have to give the team credit for going on the road after laying a giant egg against the Flyers and beating the Leafs, especially after giving up the lead multiple times.
  23. They didn’t look tired because they didn’t actually play yesterday.
