With Risto being shopped heavily I can see potential move with TB or Minn. JT Miller or Johnson for TB, Zucker for MIN All have term. All can play solid 2nd line. All similar contract numbers.

Eichel Skinner and Reinhart have 95 points between the 3 of them. Rest of the team has 159. KO, Pommers, Middlestadt, and Sheary have dropped off the face of the earth.

That is the worst trade idea in the history of trade ideas. Reinhart is ranked 3rd on the team in scoring, so giving up so many assets for Kane doesn't fix the Sabres lack of 2nd hand scoring. Kane is also 10.5 AVV for the next 4 years until he is 35. Not sure he is going to live up to that deal. I would do a deal that involves KO, Thompson, Guhle (both youthful D and F), and a 1st. But that's it. Anything more is absolutely ridiculous to consider at his salary. Must be a Hawks fan.

I agree with this. But his goal calls last night weren't his usual jump out of your chair good. An OT winner like that and he would have killed that call. But you can tell on the Risto winner that RJ was winded. Part of the fun of watching the game was RJ's goal calls that were over the top. Still love the guy though and hearing that voice. Better than Dunleavy.

He actually had a better start last year, netting 5 goals and 11 points in the first 10 games. He went into a funk and then was demoted to 2nd and 3rd lines. So we'll see how the rest of the season goes. But he should at least match last years 16g/18a/34p with this years improved talent. The sticking point with him has always been his price tag. Half the salary and he's a solid value for his production and leadership.

Everyone in Vegas is so jacked that the Knights re-signed a 33 year old Marc Andre Fleury to a 3 year $21 million extension after paying him $5.75 million this year. He'll be 37 at term's end, and this after he had a horrible year in Pittsburgh right before coming to Las Vegas. I keep telling everyone that the Knights were competing against themselves, and even if Fleury had the same season this year, no way another team is going to give a 34 year old goalie a $7 million AVV extension over 3 years. That being said, the chances him mirroring last season aren't good, and I"m predicting a Fleury buyout before his contract expires. And we signed Carter Hutton for less than half the price. Bots is brilliant.

It's been a hard camp, documented by the players and media. To have a day before the season starts for the team to come together, further solidify their chemistry, and blow off a little steam is a great idea. Housley is a hall of fame and well respected former player. He gets it.

Who is saying actively pushed for Tage Thompson? He may have been pushing for Thomas or Parayko and the Blues wouldn't budge. I get it though. I would have loved to hear Parayko's name. But I honestly believe Bots did the best he could, and to grill him otherwise isn't right. The keys to this are the two first round picks. Sobotka and Berglund are additional assets that are still productive NHL players and are better than the crap we have floating around our bottom six.

Why would we pay a player $7.5 million and then trade him? That's stupid. Whether it counted towards the cap or not, it doesn't make sense.

Some people on this board crack me up. You act as if Bots was given a choice between Parayko, R Thomas, or Berglund and chose Berglund. Rumors sites all week have been listing Parayko and Thomas as possible pieces. Don't you think if he could have gotten Thomas or Parayko he would have? It's obvious that Bots did his best to include those pieces, but the Blues woudn't budge. Even Bergevin in Montreal told the press he was out of the running for ROR, and that Bots wanted to much and to call him when he lowered his price. Had Bots waited a day to pull this deal off it would have been (EDIT: $7.5 million of free money he was giving away to pay a player no longer on his roster.) The fact he got what he did with the Blues knowing that was a coup in itself. He HAD to do a deal today. It didn't make sense for him to pull a deal off later this summer. He had to deal a player who mailed it in on many nights. You can quote me all the defensive zone starts and analytical BS all you want. Berglund's goal total last season would have placed him 5th on this sorry a$$ team. There is no knowing who actually will be suiting up in Buffalo come October. There could be more moving parts and some of the guys acquired today may be gone tomorrow. But this deal had to be done today, and Bots moved a player that he knew he had to move. He got the most he could, and all you couch potato GM's can complain all you want. It's all white noise. I'll take the haul, and I'm excited about the direction of this team and the culture and players that Bots is building in the locker room.
