    I know a lot of it with coaches in the NFL and NHL and probably all professional leagues has to do with their pensions. Something about if they have continuous work, their pensions thrive, whereas if they take a year or two off, the pensions suffer.

    Ruff was a hard ass for years and then he softened up at the end to try and save his job, but it didn’t work.

    I was actually shocked Ruff took an assistant role with the Rangers. Thought he would hold out for a head job. I actually wouldn’t mind seeing Ruff try his hand with some of these current players. I think Housley is too nice. This team needs a coach who will kick them in the ass.

    But isn’t Ekblad still better than Risto? I think Ekblad still is a #1. Risto seems more like a #2

    I love Jack but does anybody wonder how different this franchise would be if we had Ekblad and McDavid instead of Reinhart and Eichel? If we had won both of the lotteries we should have, this would be a completely different team.

    Seriously though, what if this team starts out like 2-15-2? That would get ANY other coach fired in the NHL. Can even Housley survive that? I never anticipated this team could be this bad. But they are. Just honestly wondering how much rope Housley has?

    I know this is crazy, BUT at what point would Housley be fired? How many losses does it take? 10? 12? 15? What IF he actually isn’t a good head coach?

    How can Vegas be THIS good? And remember they got rid of a lot of the good players they got at the draft. They could have been even stronger than this

    Moulson comes to the Sabres from the Islanders was great and now is nothing. Okposo comes to the Sabres from the Islanders, was great, now he’s nothing. What exactly is going on?

    Losing tonight is inexcusable with Fluery out. The Sabres actually could be worse than an expansion team. Let that settle in for a moment.

    Two things: Ristolainen is NOT a great defenseman What exactly does Okposo bring to this team besides a huge cap hit?

    Housley was about the softest d-man weve ever had. He’s certainly not going to emphasize the physical game. But these guys have been habitually soft for years and years and can’t seem to pick up his system yet.

    In other words, Sabrelike for the past 6-7 years.

    The Sabres new defenseman, Scandellla and Beaulieu suck as bad or worse than last years defensemen.

    I think some of our guys can’t even get out of second gear honestly. Just not a fast team.

    Sadly that’s what happens when teams change coaches and GM’s. Generally they do a partial or total rebuild. A lot of the Sabres parts don’t fit anymore. And we paid BIG money for those 3 I mentioned. Not easy to unload any of them.

    I’m hoping Botterill will have no hesitation on massive changes at some point DURING the season if the losing continues. I think a lot of these players don’t fit the style of play Housley wants. There are still a ton of Tim Murray’s Guys here and Murray had a different vision of how he wanted the team to play. Housley wants speed, a lot of our forwards are slow. But a few contracts will be hard to move. Moulson, Okposo, O’reilly

    Exactly. Or anyone on here. I was just thinking that. This team deserves to walk back out to an empty building for the third.

    Considering the opponent, this is one of the worst Sabre efforts in the past couple years. And that’s saying something.
