I can completely respect you not agreeing with some picks and I like the insight on who you would have taken but let's wait a bit to see how these guys develop. I mean, you have concerns outside of the top 2 picks, but they didn't even pick again until the 4th friggen round! At that point in the draft every single one of those players have some major concerns. I know your a draft nut (said in a positive light) and I do respect your opinion on players. But once you get outside of the top 40 or 50 guys it's a pretty big crapshoot.

we need to start hitting on some non type 10 picks. What was it 2014 or 2015 when we had 3 2nd and basically missed on all of them. I heard about how Hurley was a couple of days from being so young that he was almost eligible for the next draft. All busts. I'm fine if his ceiling is a shut down second pairing guy with a higher floor. I'm sick of missing on these picks. Let's build some depth here. Nothing I've read yet makes me think anything but this being a good pick.

So baker has him ranked 20th overall. Baker also had mitts ranked super high last year. The more I read, the more I like this pick. I'm done with dressing guys like faulk and fedun.

So he's 6'4, has a great shot and plays mean? How's his skating because that all sounds good to me. Second round picks can be tough to project so he sounds as good to me as any. We really do need more higher pick d prospects in our system.

Which would be perfectly fine. If Montreal doesn't give what Botts wants then hold on. After July 1 and Tavares decision I could see another market open up. If Botts doesn't get what he wants there then please keep him.

I would think it would be a cap hit for the Sabres. It may make more sense to wait until after that July 1 payment and find out exactly what Tavares does before moving him. May open up some teams like San Jose or St. Louis at that point.

So....are we happy with basically a straight up trade of Brady Tkachuk for Ryan O'Reilly? I'm not sure. Contractually it's a clear yes but it'll be another 2-3 years before Tkachuk has the impact of O'Reilly today. On the flip side, O'Reilly ain't getting any younger and this Sabres team is likely still 3 years away from any meaningful run.

Do they still do 'cash considerations' like they use to in the past. Could a deal get done today with the agreement Buffalo would pay the bonus on July 1?

This past year has been the most trying season on Sabres fans in probably the franchise history. Another down year, one which expected the team would start to take the next step. Fan support really waivered. Then the excitement of atleast winning the draft lottery. The process sure sucked but let's enjoy today with the big selection of Dahlin and start moving this thing in the right direction. Let's go Dahlin, Let's go Buffalo!!!! :beer:

Could we see Reinhart AND ROR traded before the end of today? Should be an exciting seeing what happens. When you consider the addition of Dahlin, today really could be a franchise altering day.
