1st time in NHL history that two defensemen drafted #1 OA scored a goal in the same game for the same team.
I wonder if this is a harbinger of better days ahead for the team.

The Arizona coyotes is the most useless franchise in the NHL. From their joke of an arena deal, the actual team, and their announcers.
If anything, we don’t have to worry about losing our barn. They do.

Humor helps to keep me going sometimes, especially with the zeitgeist we have.
Not to be political, but I can’t forget about the impact the “Trudeau Eulogies” had back in 2016 - and how I could still use them in my dark and twisted humor towards certain notable people.

According to capfriendly he’s making $70,000 in the AHL. I can see why he’d make the jump. He’s a nice little player but I’m not sure he was ever going to be anything more than a tweener.
And some of us on here make more than 70k a year. That kind of change won’t buy much. Maybe a couple of steps above a Yugo.

This is what makes me believe they're finally on their way to being a good team and an end to this eternal rebuild is within sight. When they were stinking barns up left and right from November until the all star break, it seemed like as soon as they hit a rough patch they crumpled into a ball and got boat raced. Now, I refuse to look away because these sumbitches don't flinch and fight their ***** off. They are a really damn good hockey team RIGHT NOW. Now imagine as the young talent here continues to grow and some of the younger guys get up here and get their legs under them. Night after night, we are "out talented" and these guys are still beating some of the best teams in the league and if they don't beat them, they're keeping it respectable. And this is no longer a case of "oh, they took us lightly." No, these are top tier teams jockeying for playoff positioning and the word is out by now that this isn't the "same old Sabres." It's kinda fun to be a Sabres fan again.
As I said in a different thread recently, the pundits wrote us off again and said that we’d finish dead last in our division.
Go pound sand and go eat crow, you imbeciles!

If we keep this level of play up into next year, we are going to be dangerous.

And I really think Eakin is teaching the kids how to take faceoffs. FO% from the Nashville game:
- Eakin: 56%
- Cozens: 67%
- Mitts: 50%
- Thommer: 75%
- Okie, Skinner, Asplund: 0%... but hey, they're wingers.
- Overall: 53%
Now tell me again how we're a bad FO team.
Anyway, came here to post this:

Still doesn't.
Been there when the floor shook from the crowd like an earth quake.
It's been 2 decades. We are ready.
Forget Jack! He has about as much respect with Sabres fans as Slava Kozlov: NONE.

Not eliminated yet?
hold my beer watch this …
I hope to be proven wrong, but I just don’t see them getting in for the upcoming postseason. Too many games have been going past regulation lately. Sure, we have walked away with at least a point in recent games, but I think a lot of us would prefer regulation wins (and not let the other teams pick up that extra point).

Logic is good. But the best comparison is to this (very close to exact) team from just a few months. They be "coming together." It might be something else.
I fully except the Sabres to look better in the standings next year. To expect this level of play is another thing.
A lot of pundits were saying that the Sabres were going to finish last in the division before the season started. Then again, some of them also said with certainty that the Pens were going to miss the playoffs as well.
There’s no bread. Let them eat crow!

I really can’t pick a single answer. Too many people to quote on here since I’m in agreement with much of what’s been said.
Lynyrd seems to enjoy playing hockey again.
-
Some of us remember when the Sabres would blow leads. But for the Hawks to blow it on their own ice at our hands?
Bad for them, but good for us.

Before the Sens-Preds game started in Nashville tonight, the PA announcer called for a moment of silence in memory of the guy.
(Hopefully I got that one in before the thread went off the rails even further.)

I have a long fuse but it may push me over the edge to have to watch him for another year.
Surely one of Thompson, Cozens, Krebs, Mittelstadt, Asplund, Girgensons, Jankowski can work hard this off season and get to 50% on draws.
How much longer do we have Lynyrd (Skinner) under contract?

Holland has been bad for years but no one wants to say it.
And yet, I‘ve been seeing a pattern for years when it comes to sports: if you can’t make it in Buffalo, you can’t make it anywhere else. Unless there’s something I’m missing, our beloved city has become a coaches’ and GMs’ graveyard. There have been very few exceptions to this, such as Scotty Bowman. Possibly Bobby Hurley with the work he did at UB men’s basketball.
I guess if your résumé includes a legendary and storied franchise, you get a pass. If not, then your career is over, and the only job you’ll get is coaching youth hockey or youth football. (Yes, I’m being facetious with the last sentence, but there may be a kernel of truth in it as well.)
Seems to me that @SDS’s meme about Jack Eichel the other day with the listing ship could also apply to said Ken Holland. Yes? No? Maybe?

It’s hard to bring oneself to fire a legend. Success on the ice/court/field doesn’t always translate to coaching/FO success. We’ve seen much of the opposite as of late. Wayne Gretzky, Mike Singletary, and Michael Jordan - to name a few.
