  1. A TV rating is not a measure of the raw volume of people watching. It’s a measure of the percentage of people watching. A Sabres game has higher ratings in Buffalo than a Rangers game in NYC, but there are still more people watching in NYC.
  2. It’s not two groups: those who can and can’t attend games. The person who used to attend 5 games per season, now maybe decides to go to only 2. The person who attended 1 might now decide not to. There will most likely be a reduction in fan willingness to spend money. There may need to be a reduction in ticket prices as a result. It at least will need to be considered.
  3. Proof that PA was right, lol.
  4. Elliot Friedman has said that he doesn’t think that the price for Strome would be prohibitive. Take that for what you will.

    OT - Comedy

I used to watch The Red Green Show and Seinfeld all the time as a kid. Not sure if it’s the cup of tea of most hockey guys, but I love New Girl. Master of None with Aziz Ansari is great. Any standup special from John Mulaney. Netflix standup special of Ronny Chieng, especially if you are familiar with a lot of Asian/Chinese/Singapore people.
  6. You don’t need to pushing out facts, trying to disprove the validity or goodness of other people’s religions. It’s not for you to judge. That’s the issue here.
  7. It’s rarely truly because of religious beliefs. Religion can be a great scapegoat. It’s a good way to mobilize a population.
  8. I’m not ignorant of history. Muslims have killed millions, Christians have killed millions, Hitler killed millions. People kill other people. It’s not because of their religion.
  9. Connolly and Pommer for me. At his best, I think Connolly was better than Roy or Max. Roy was solid, but Connolly was a game breaker.
  10. Just from myself personally, I’m only viewing your comments in a negative light because you are not being very respectful of others’ beliefs.
  11. This is out of line. We are respectful of other people’s views here. There is no reason that we can not wish each other a good holiday. You don’t get to decide if it’s ok or not. Also, you are saying things here that NS never ever said and throwing it under the umbrella of “Muslims believe”.
  12. I think you could find similar examples of Christians controlling/altering religious texts throughout history.
  13. I think you could have chosen a less insulting parallel here.
  14. And a very Happy Easter to everyone, whether you celebrate it yourselves or not. I still look at as a day to celebrate new beginnings and the coming of spring. I feel that people should look at this Easter and consider that there will be a coming “spring” after this “winter” that we are currently experiencing. That’s what I’m trying to do. It’s the best that I can come up with.
  15. I hope that you can see the juxtaposition of these two statements. The same statement used as evidence of truth in one case and evidence of a historicity problem in another. I feel quite certain that any document written, copied and translated by human hand for 1,300+ years will come out the other side with significant alterations from the original. These documents are the creations of humans. You speak as if your beliefs are the single, correct truth. I would urge you to understand that those who do not believe the same things as you have their own truth, that in their eyes, is no less correct than yours is to you.
  16. This sounds to me like you are saying: You will find proof if you look hard enough until you find it. I would say this is true of anything. I’ve lived for 34 years and attended Catholic mass weekly for 15+ years, and the truth has yet to be revealed to me. I’m open to all different kinds of ideas, but none have shown themselves to be the truth definitively.
  17. I had previously seen these allegations reported. The thing about the media is that it is a profit focused business. It will focus on whatever gets the most views. Different sources focus on different target audiences, so you could call that is bias, but they are almost all really focused on views/clicks/subscriptions/profits. I actually think it’s a part of the problem. There are too many news sources, they are able to specialize and focus on attracting specific demographic groups. So people are able to listen to only the news that they want to hear. Different demographics are listening to different news from different sources, constantly reinforcing what they already believe to be true. This leads to greater separation in beliefs between people and less understanding of each other. I think things might be better if everyone got the same news from the same few sources.
  18. I would like to see maybe Girgensons and definitely Larsson resigned to continue playing that bottom 6 puck possession line role with Okposo. Simmonds can walk and Asplund wasn’t that good after his first few games.
  19. The cap is not going to drop by $13.5M. That would basically put every team in the league over the cap. Neither the owners nor the NHLPA will want that. I could see a small decrease of $1-2M and/or no increase for the next 2-3 years though.
  20. I don’t get it.
  21. No way. They are only 3 1/2 years apart in age. If they are not close enough in age then neither are Stamkos-Kucherov/Hedman, or Ovechkin/Backstrom-Carlson, or the guys in Boston, or McKinnon-Makar. Instead of considering trading the best, most valuable players, we should instead focus on making great trades and draft picks to augment the team around them.
  22. I think that things will go back to how they were before, or almost exactly as they were before. I can’t see why they wouldn’t. The whole thing does suck though. It’s putting a strain on most everyone. Sorry about your friend. Hopefully your daughter’s wedding can still happen. The fiancé and I had to postpone our own wedding because of this.
  23. I think this is the question that many are asking. I also think the answer is obvious. Its a business. They are trying to figure out ways to potentially get business going again. They are figuring out potential options. Even if they agree that it’s mostly likely not going to be able to happen, if it is able to happen they need to have plans in place, ready to go. They won’t have time to waste a week figuring out logistics. It’s what any business would do.
  24. I’m sure they are working on the restart also. The horse idea is something they could do in the meantime, before a restart would be feasible. They also are doing an NBA 2K tournament with nba players playing the NBA video game against each other, on TV. I didn’t watch any, but I’m sure it could be slightly entertaining, with trash talk and what not. The league wants to keep exposure/interest up and the networks are desperate for content. It’s more than what the NHL is doing.
  25. It’s a relatively safe way for a league to generate income. All you need is a few camera people for each player. The players don’t even need to be in the same locations.
