  1. The best way to get Boeser out of Vancouver would be for someone to take on Loui Erickson in the deal (2 years remaining and the Canucks desperate to unload his contract). I doubt we do any deals like that though given the whole cost cutting thing they seem to be doing. How is Buffalo going to afford to take on Erickson’s salary? I don’t think there is any way to make that work. Eichel-10 Skinner-9 Reinhart-6.5??? Okposo-6 Erickson-6 Boeser-5.8 Olofsson-4.5??? Kahun-3??? Dahlin-7??? Risto-5.4 Montour-4??? Jokiharju-3??? Total- 70.2 for 12 players, that’s tough.
  2. That trade seems bad. One year of 36 year old Eric Staal and a young bottom 6 winger for Mittelstadt, one year of Johansson, and two years of Miller???
  3. Well, there some things going on right now that are more important than a hockey player draft, so I don’t really see what choice they had this year. I know this virtual draft is going to be REALLY TOUGH on everyone but hopefully we’ll all be able to get through it.
  4. I mean, yeah, that’s pretty much the reason for hope though. You just described the situation that they are in. They are going to be desperate for cap space and they have very limited options of players that can be moved. If they weren’t desperate, why would they move him? But it’s very probable that they will be desperate, so maybe they will.
  5. I wanted to ask LGR4GM, and anyone else, about Sam Colangelo. It seems to me that he may be a good target to take in the 2nd round at #38. He had good but not amazing numbers for a very good Chicago Steel team of the USHL. If you dig into the numbers a bit, they look even more impressive though. Overall, he had 28-30-58 in 44 games. That’s good but not incredible for the USHL, it’s a weaker league than CHL. However, 47 of those 58 came at ES and 49 of those 58 were Primary Points. Also he wasn’t getting incredibly high ice time for his team, about 17:30. That’s less than most top draft prospects in junior leagues. They routinely get 20+. I think that combined, these numbers point to someone who could be a little undervalued. As a player, he is a big (6’2” 205+), physical right wing, with good skating agility and acceleration, but only average speed. He is good at winning board battles and fighting through checks. He is a good shooter who goes to the dirty areas to score. Not a great playmaker but can control the puck and make good passes. He forechecks aggressively and back checks well, with a good motor. Basically a power forward RW who works hard in all 3 zones. I suppose there could be questions about how well the offense will translate against bigger, stronger competition. Anyone have insights on him? (Side Note: Seth Jarvis also only got about 17:30 TOI, if he had been getting 22 like some top draft prospects, his numbers would probably be crazy high and he might be a consensus top-10 pick)
  6. Like I said, it’s the NHL, things don’t need to make sense.
  7. But Kevy has never drafted a bust!
  8. I hear the logic of where you are coming from, but I bet that in the end, the 8 teams who lose in the play-in round, do not end up being classified as playoff teams. Otherwise, why call it a play-in round, as opposed to round 1? And teams who have conditional draft picks made the trades based on a 16 team playoff, not 24. I the end, I think only the remaining 16 teams will be considered playoff teams. It’s the NHL and it’s a pandemic. It doesn’t need to make perfect sense.
  9. But does it count as making the playoffs for the purposes of conditional draft picks?
  10. Skinner has a NTC. He would have to want to go across the continent from where he wanted to live 12 months ago.
  11. Right. It said that a players stats in the play-in games would count towards their career playoff stats, as opposed to regular season. That’s all. It does not say that all 24 teams are officially counted as making the playoffs.
  12. Where did you see that all 24 are officially considered as having made the playoffs? This is important because there are trade conditions that depend upon this. I didn’t think there had been an official ruling.
  13. Could Montour not be considered cost controlled as a RFA? Are they looking only for guys on their ELCs? The top-pair thing is relative. Benning apparently thought Myers could be, so...........
  14. After watching more of a few guys over the past couple days, I can definitely get behind Jarvis being this high. His combination of skating, puck control, and aggressive mentality really lets him attack defenses. He doesn’t skate around the perimeter, he challenges the defense. And he is a gamer. He isnt taking plays off, cheating, or just floating around. He plays with an intensity.
  15. Risto/Montour + Mitts + 2nd for Boeser and Gaudette???
  16. Yeah, I get. He does have some value. It all depends on the deal. I wouldn’t dump him for a 3rd rounder or anything, but I may actively try to insert him into any trade talks regarding a 2C, for example.
  17. I couldn’t agree more! Seriously though, I agree with everything you said. Overall, I personally am not optimistic. If I was Buffalo, I would seriously consider trading him.
  18. I disagree. It’s possible that Mittelstadt ends up being a useful player, but the situation is not as simple as give him some talent, let him work, he is fine. Mittelstadt has been a bad NHL player, like....very bad, and it’s not that his line mates are dragging him down. He is dragging them down! He needs to make real improvements to get to a place where he is a good NHL player.
  19. Before COVID-19/stagnant cap, I figured some team would probably give Lars around $3M for 2-4 years. It’ll likely be less now. How much less, I’m not sure. It’s possible that the lower end UFAs, like Lars, get hit harder as teams try to save money for the higher end players, so you could be right. Its also been rumored that Lars is not very interested in returning, so it may be some other team that he takes less money from anyway. A lot of things up in the air right now.
  20. It doesn’t look like a wolf. I always thought it was a cat, mountain lion.
  21. I would basically agree, but I’m interested in what info Eleven has to defend his position.
  22. To be fair to Eleven, he did not say that the North American Native peoples were fairly treated. The disagreement between you two seems to be the extent to which Native Peoples were able to retain their culture. This seems to be something about which a logical discussion could take place. You two, make your points regarding the issue at hand. It could actually lead to a healthy discussion.
  23. I would guess that the number who were killed far outpaced the number who went to reservations. I the grand scheme of things, you are probably right though, that it was less brutal than most conquerings over the past couple thousand years.
  24. Yeah, it’s all solidly in wait and see territory right now. Im just saying, they fired the Director of Amateur Scouting (Jankowski), Assistant Director of Amateur Scouting (Crisp), and 10 amateur scouts. I think it’s reasonable to assume this probably will lead to a change in draft philosophy, especially when the old philosophy was uniquely strange.
  25. I would. It’s highly unlikely that someone else would employ such a strong aversion to CHL prospects. If Adams liked the drafting, he may not have replaced the director of scouting.
