20 games + playoffs of Montour @ $3.9M AAV. Cost, contract status, team control. These are as important as talent level.

You obviously feel very strongly about this. What would you have done with Jonas Johansson? What would have been your plan with him going forward? Contract? Where would you want him playing next season, and beyond?

It does seem like a rumormongering site. But let’s look at it like this: (1) Buffalo retains 50% on Hall (2) Hall agrees to a contract extension with Edmonton. (3) Buffalo takes on 2x$5.75M cap hit James Neal. What is all that worth? 2 1sts? Maybe.

Wow. That would be wild. I feel like thinking it might be Broberg is dreaming too hard. But my answer is yes.

This is probably good news. The Sabres need stability and Linus can provide that. I do worry about goalie term, but something something necessary evils.

A huge factor this season is retaining salary, because almost every team has zero cap room. Savard ended up with 75% of his salary retained. Staal had 50% retained Montour had 0% retained.

I’m just happy to see NHL teams getting creative.

I said the same thing earlier, and I was corrected that it was two years, as he was acquired at trade deadline 2019. Point stands though. Two seasons vs 20 games.

Not that his value hasn’t dropped, but Montour was under team control at the time and now he isn’t. It was a 1st and Guhle vs a 3rd and 3 years of Montour playing games. Ok. I’m cool with this. Now do more!

Well, I think his value may not be much more than a 2nd honestly. Did you see what NJ had to do for a late 1st? Both Palmerie (having a better season than Hall) and Zajac, both 50% retained. In exchange they got a 1st, a conditional 4th, and two AHLers (25 and 27 years old), one of whom is a UFA anyway.

What’s better than Galchenyuk? Galchenyuk + Hall! Toronto actually make a move yesterday to open themselves up some more cap space, so I’m pretty sure they are looking to add someone. Plus, this is their time to go for it! Seriously though, it’s impossible to evaluate something like this from the outside. We know hardly anything about what’s going on. If a couple more deals happen and Hall is still sitting here, then I’ll “worry” more.

I would agree, if teams were finding their pieces. So far just one team has though.

He has allowed 4, 2, and 0 goals in his three starts. Then he also had a strange game where he came in for the last ~13 mins of a blowout loss and allowed a goal on the only shot he faced.

Right, it’s just kind of funny. I think of him as very famous, because he was at the center of popular culture during a few of my formative years.

I’m surprised by how many didn’t know of DMX. If you were growing up in the late 90’s, he was almost impossible to not know.
