Boston needed to create cap space. AHL JAGs don’t affect NHL cap space. They needed to change one of their NHL guys for someone cheaper.

I’m going to assume you think that Hall is by far the best player here, because there is no way that Staal, Montour and Lazar come anywhere close to Foligno or Savard. People need to accept that at his salary, with a NMC, lack of playoff experience or leadership reputation, and with the way he played this season the market for Hall just was not there.

Exactly! Without a significant offer from Buffalo, Ullmark will be a UFA? No kidding! I figured it would only take an insignificant offer. That statement is just broad enough to cover his ass.

I feel like you are leaving out a lot of important context here. Specifically how these two players are viewed around the league in terms of intangibles. Rightly or wrongly.

Two players both having seasons as good as Hall (better?), returned a 1st, a 4th, a rental AHLer, and another AHLer My point was that it took more than Palmeri to get a 1st. It took Palmeri and another guy basically of equal value to get a 1st and a couple low end sweeteners.

Also, no one gave up a 1st for Palmeri either.

Bjork isn’t an Eakin/Leino/Sobotka. Those 3 don’t even belong in the same grouping, and I don’t see how someone making $1.6 for 2 seasons can be compared to Lieno, or even Sobotka.
