You’ve seen mock drafts from pro hockey types? What’s a pro hockey type?
-
Ok, then define project. I don’t have a strict definition and use it pretty loosely. Don’t worry about it.
-
Lol. I’m not overreacting. I think it’s great that he played well against pro competition (especially since there is a good chance he’ll be a Sabre). I think I’d still take Beniers first.
-
This is a little interesting because Power is generally viewed as more of an offense first D.
-
No, I’m going to keep doing it! 😋 He was often referred to as quite raw this season.
-
You agree that it makes sense to trade them, but Adams approach of doing so is BS? What exactly are you disagreeing with here? I understand being frustrated with the state of the team, we are where we are, and they need to make the best decisions they can moving forward.
-
Risto is going to walk in a year. Reinhart is going to walk in a year. Even if the Sabres improve to be ok next season and maybe sneak into the playoffs (big IF). They are going to UFA. This is what I believe.
-
Yeah, I understand. Cozens can’t leave and because of that he is probably devoting his full energy to making things work in Buffalo. What’s your point? Risto isn’t under control for a long time and seems like he has one foot out the door.
-
I guess it depends on if you think Borgen can be a $25 chip, or if he is a $5 chip they give you for free when you bring a guest.
-
I think of it like this. Risto is a $50 chip you can cash in at the the deadline. Borgen is a ticket to receive a $25 chip every year for 4 years.
-
Some of them were asked, and responded that they were excited about being part of this group and building something going forward. Other guys were asked and said: I’m fine with whatever happens, or wherever I am next year, or I’m here for now. If they are mentally checked out with one foot out the door, it doesn’t really matter the reason, they aren’t going to be all in.
-
For me, he is more important to the future of the team than Risto, and thus should be protected over Risto. He may not be a better player but Risto has one year on his contract and I think it’s pretty obvious that he doesn’t want to be here. If you are ignoring the contract situations in your evaluation, then you aren’t evaluated the situation properly. (And I’m not saying you personally, what I’m saying is for anyone who scoffs at the idea that Risto could be left exposed.) If the idea of loosing one year of Risto for nothing is too earth shattering, then my answer is to trade him for something. Anyway, I think all this talk could be pointless. There will be roster turnover. Every time Adams opens his mouth he is talking about moving forward with guys who WANT to be here. I’ll see who is on the roster when the expansion draft rolls around.
-
Clark Kent = Super Man Owen Power = Super Power
-
Sure. Though in my mind Dahlin-Borgen, Power-Joki makes a lot of sense too. Its not a huge problem, but limits roster flexibility a bit. Mostly just unlucky that in a year where Sabres won the lottery most of the great prospects are D (and at that LD).
-
You need to account for the players that those guys would displace from the Sabres’ roster. Salaries of Brown, Kempe, Vilardi, and Turcotte vs Salaries of Eichel, and the 3 other players that would have been making at least the league minimum.
-
Oh, gotcha. Also Buffalo would save more on the salary cap. Probably closer to $3M+
-
You are asking for too much. Even more than you say you would need. Check your math.
-
I think he’ll make a hire on June 24th. 😉
-
Bryson is exempt. He is not eligible for the expansion draft because anyone with less than 3 seasons of pro experience is exempt. Bryson has played only 2 pro seasons. @bob_sauve28

Usually the higher weight is right and the lower ones just haven’t been updated. When in doubt, elite prospects is probably most reputable. Or just the info from the player’s actual team site.
-
Yeah, twins actually. But it’s like a Twins Schwarzenegger/Devito situation. Poor Andrew just got what was left over. Kidding. No relation as far as I know.

I like Chris Peters. He has a hockey prospects podcast that’s pretty good.
