Scouch is not high on Power. He has Power at 6-7 on his draft board. That’s good. I’m surprised it says 4 weeks since he was on the ice skating the next day.

I would be ok with drafting Wallstedt around 10, or that Cossa guy in the late 1st after pick 20. Especially in a year where the overall depth of skater talent is pretty weak. Goaltending is really important.

Regardless of the path forward that the team takes, this could be said, in one form or another. It boils down to: “Do you trust Adams to do X well?” X could be anything: make a hockey trade, make a trade for futures, select players in the draft, negotiate with RFAs, sign players in UFA, select a coach. It’s endless. For most, the answer is no, because it’s hard to trust a guy you haven’t seen do it yet, but it is the same for anything. Whatever the team does Adams will be doing it, so to me it doesn’t make sense to worry about him doing X, because if he isn’t doing that you’ll just worry about him doing Y instead. If Adams is bad at his job, it’s not going to go well regardless of the strategy pursued.

I would say that either the list of teams that are serious about Eichel is being solidified, and the few contenders are getting ready to put forward their best offers, or a couple of these teams are giving a little false info to their “insiders” to see if Adams will drop his asking price a little. Honestly it could be both though.

Of course it’s always helpful when good players are on good contracts, but the top heavy Golden Knights just beat the Avs. Vegas has 2 guys making $18.3M and their top 4 salaries combine for $32.3M against the cap. Montreal is paying $14.9M just on goaltending.
