  1. I’m not so sure that this viewpoint holds true. In a year where there are few games to scout and not a lot of data to analyze, I would think that a small scouting/analytics staff would be less of a hinderance, not more.
  2. It’s probably more, no?
  3. Exciting for Kevy Adams, because he gets to keep the GM job for a few years and tout the development of the team, even if the results aren’t there. Unless they are top-5 picks, despite being a needed part of team building, they aren’t worth getting really excited over in the short term.
  4. It’s Eichel. When (If?) they are both traded, the return for Eichel will be more. I feel very confident in this.
  5. I bet there is a universe out there in which Dreger is wrong about a coach being hired next week.
  6. 6 years. Doesn’t make it any better, but just saying.
  7. Also Stone has a full NMC. And Fleury has a partial NTC.
  8. Has Dreger always been useless or is it a recent development? Seriously, I feel like everything he has put out in the past 6 months is kind of like this. Did I just not realize it before?
  9. The tone of this post makes it sound like Stone isn’t an elite player, and makes it sound like he is on a terrible contract. You almost make him sound like a cap dump. Not sure if that was your intention.
  10. If LA made a decision that it’s not in their best interest to give up the assets required to acquire Eichel, then I can’t see them changing their mind and making a push to get him just to stop Anaheim from getting him. It will be a trade that alters the course of a franchise and could be a career defining trade for a GM. They have to actually want it, it’s not going to be done just to stop someone else from doing it. That would be a pretty backwards way to run a team. Also, I honestly believe that there are some teams out there with limited interest in Eichel due to their opinion of him as a person, and perhaps LA is one of them. That being said, the LA out stuff could just be a smoke screen.
  11. Correct, it seems that perhaps Columbus got to a point where the answer to that question was a definite no.
  12. True, there is certainly a lot of context in both of their situations that wouldn’t be captured simply by NHLe. They both had fairly unusual circumstances.
  13. I’m not even saying that Krebs has a higher offensive ceiling, because I’m not sure that’s true, but there are limitations to just using that NHLe number like that. You are leaving out a huge amount of context. Their team situations in their draft years were just about as different as can be. Beniers was on one of the best NCAA teams in the country, stacked with NHL prospects. He did not lead his team in scoring. Krebs was on a truly terrible WHL team with no talent around him. He led his team in scoring by a mile.
  14. Hypothetically, this is not a bad idea. However, is this the same Mark Stone who has the full NMC?
  15. Yeah, pretty much. I’m not blaming anyone for being disappointed, but post after post saying how disappointing or stupid it is, honestly is tedious. I’m also not saying that anyone shouldn’t discuss any possible scenario that they want, but for me, discussing things that are never going to happen also isn’t very interesting. Eichel is going to be traded for a collection of (mostly young) assets. I’m not happy about it, but I am expecting it, and I think there are scenarios where it works out.
  16. It’s as good a place to vent and commiserate as any I guess, and after enduring the organization’s incompetence I don’t really blame anyone. But I’ve kind of been expecting things to come to an major inflection point since this past season took a downward turn, due to the contract situations of Eichel/Reinhart/Risto, and their previously expressed dissatisfaction with the team’s performance. The events after the season just reaffirmed this. So I guess I’ve just gotten accustomed to the idea. I also don’t think that and Eichel trade without receiving a top-5 in the NHL prospect is an auto fail. So the constant complaining about it just feels tedious to me.
  17. After they trade Jack, I might need to take 2 weeks away from here (though I probably won’t). So many are going to be endlessly railing against the return.
  18. Yeah, it’s been two. He has done really well. He played for a horrible team during his draft year, suppressing his #s a bit, and injured his leg kind of badly at the end of it. He fell a little in the draft as a result. He has lit it up since then and he will be in the AHL/NHL next season.
  19. Yeah, he started playing pro in 2016-17. Even if the 2020-21 season doesn’t count, Nylander has played 4 pro seasons. I don’t get it.
  20. Missed the whole year with heart inflammation due to Covid!
  21. Huh. This doesn’t seem right.
  22. Krebs is a a really really good prospect. It depends on where you are drawing your line on A/B, but Krebs is probably a top 10 prospect not in the NHL.
  23. Even for them. They did it once but they really had to try hard at it.
  24. I’m going to go ahead and be that guy. These are kind of humorous puns, but I think any of this krak house, krak head stuff is in pretty poor taste. I’m not in favor of making light of drug addiction.
  25. Can’t say how bad the roster looks until we actually see the roster.
