Would you hire an 18 year old to a job that would entail them being a high profile part of your company for the next 7-8 years without interviewing them? What type of person these kids are matters just as much as their talent.

To be fair, the draft is over 3 weeks away. The draft combine, where most interviews would normally happen, is usually about 3 weeks before the draft. I don’t want to skewer them for something they might be doing this week or next week, which is fine, but if they never interview him, then yeah, that seems neglectful.

Dahlin has already produced at a rate similar to that. 2019-20 he had 40 points in 59 games. That’s 55-56 points over a full season. I think he can do even more. If Dahlin takes an actual step forward next season, in addition to being unleashed a bit, I don’t think something like 10-55-65 is pie in the sky.

I get people are concerned about Pegula making hockey decisions, but this has gone too far.
-
Wasn’t the report that they had Rossi high BEFORE Adams took over?
-
That’s actually really nice to hear. Makes me feel like maybe they aren’t terrible at their jobs.
-
Apparently if they are keeping people through the draft, this guy isn’t one of them. I don’t necessarily think they need to get THIS guy, but they need to get a few SMART guys. Whoever they are.

I definitely see what you are talking about. He sometimes seems hesitant or to be second guessing what to do in the defensive zone, but I’m going to agree with Liger. I think, and hope, that this is mostly to to do with the constraints placed on him. I don’t really recall him being so hesitant during his rookie year, or even when he was playing confidently in the 2nd half of his 2nd year.

Long legs look slow.

Who are all of these extra fast D men you are talking about? Makar and........? Fox is a good skater, and maybe his straight line speed is a bit better than Dahlin, but I don’t think Fox is extremely fast or anything.

I’m not so sure that this viewpoint holds true. In a year where there are few games to scout and not a lot of data to analyze, I would think that a small scouting/analytics staff would be less of a hinderance, not more.
-
It’s probably more, no?
-
Exciting for Kevy Adams, because he gets to keep the GM job for a few years and tout the development of the team, even if the results aren’t there. Unless they are top-5 picks, despite being a needed part of team building, they aren’t worth getting really excited over in the short term.

It’s Eichel. When (If?) they are both traded, the return for Eichel will be more. I feel very confident in this.

Dreger: Expects Sabres Head Coach will be hired next week
Curt replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
I bet there is a universe out there in which Dreger is wrong about a coach being hired next week. -

6 years. Doesn’t make it any better, but just saying. -
Also Stone has a full NMC. And Fleury has a partial NTC.
-
Has Dreger always been useless or is it a recent development? Seriously, I feel like everything he has put out in the past 6 months is kind of like this. Did I just not realize it before?
-
The tone of this post makes it sound like Stone isn’t an elite player, and makes it sound like he is on a terrible contract. You almost make him sound like a cap dump. Not sure if that was your intention.

If LA made a decision that it’s not in their best interest to give up the assets required to acquire Eichel, then I can’t see them changing their mind and making a push to get him just to stop Anaheim from getting him. It will be a trade that alters the course of a franchise and could be a career defining trade for a GM. They have to actually want it, it’s not going to be done just to stop someone else from doing it. That would be a pretty backwards way to run a team. Also, I honestly believe that there are some teams out there with limited interest in Eichel due to their opinion of him as a person, and perhaps LA is one of them. That being said, the LA out stuff could just be a smoke screen.
-
Correct, it seems that perhaps Columbus got to a point where the answer to that question was a definite no.
-
True, there is certainly a lot of context in both of their situations that wouldn’t be captured simply by NHLe. They both had fairly unusual circumstances.
-
I’m not even saying that Krebs has a higher offensive ceiling, because I’m not sure that’s true, but there are limitations to just using that NHLe number like that. You are leaving out a huge amount of context. Their team situations in their draft years were just about as different as can be. Beniers was on one of the best NCAA teams in the country, stacked with NHL prospects. He did not lead his team in scoring. Krebs was on a truly terrible WHL team with no talent around him. He led his team in scoring by a mile.
-
Hypothetically, this is not a bad idea. However, is this the same Mark Stone who has the full NMC?
-
Yeah, pretty much. I’m not blaming anyone for being disappointed, but post after post saying how disappointing or stupid it is, honestly is tedious. I’m also not saying that anyone shouldn’t discuss any possible scenario that they want, but for me, discussing things that are never going to happen also isn’t very interesting. Eichel is going to be traded for a collection of (mostly young) assets. I’m not happy about it, but I am expecting it, and I think there are scenarios where it works out.
