  1. Yes, last season really does look like a last ditch effort (maybe even a half hearted one) to make it work with the group they had. After that failed, it seems like Adams got the full green light to do things his way. I think Adams is a pretty astute executive with a skill for getting his way, but I don’t know if Adams will turn out to be a good GM. I like his vision for the team, and I grudgingly accept that I need to have a little patience for this rebuild. However, I do acknowledge that tearing down a team is a heck of a lot easier that building a team.
  2. He has recovered well. This is his 3rd season post surgery. Post recovery he has played in the WHL, WJC, and AHL, performing extremely well at all those stops. It’s not abnormal for a 20 year old to look so-so in he’s first handful of NHL games.
  3. This thread is mean, probably even inappropriate, but it’s not racist.
  4. Over the past 6 seasons, the difference in performance between the Buffalo Sabres with and Without Eichel on the ice has been statistically massive. Literally greater than any other player/team. I don’t have the information in front of me, but I saw it recently.
  5. He didn’t produce last season either. His shot share stats have been much better this season. Im not saying that he has been great or even that he should not be sent down though.
  6. I would say that he has been better this season. Granted, I’ll admit that I have missed some games. His statistics are better than last season as well.
  7. If it had actually been $6M in real salary, it would have been a much bigger favor to NYI.
  8. Not upset about TP’s money, but upset that we did what appeared to be a big favor to NYI without receiving any compensation in return. Basically upset that the Sabres were being managed poorly and missing opportunities to get assets.
  9. Thank you. Some people are talking about him as if he will be a bruiser, borderline enforcer. Those people will be disappointed. He is big, but he isn’t a nasty player and he doesn’t fight. Good player though.
  10. You should go pick out lottery numbers.
  11. In what ways is Cozens performing worse this season than he did last season?
  12. Was pretty busy today. I am just catching up to things on here. Overall I think this is an ok return. Not as good as I hoped for when I first pondered trading Eichel in May, but better than I thought they would get when I was at my most pessimistic. We heard that Adams wanted 4 1st round equivalents, and he basically ended up getting 3. I really like both Tuch and Krebs. They are the type of players and people who the Sabres have been going after. Easy guys to root for. In the case of Tuch, a young veteran with playoff experience and ties to the region/team. Krebs is a guy who has always held leadership positions throughout his junior years, and also helps fill in the Sabres lack of depth at C. I don’t see Vegas being a bottom ten team, so I doubt the protection comes into play. Best case is they just miss the playoffs, finishing with a 11-16 draft position. Overall, it’s alright. Sucks that they were never good with Eichel, but I’m excited about the new direction for the team. EDIT: Forgot to add, thank goodness that it’s over with!
  13. 2022 draft is very deep. People have been saying that it will be a very good draft for a couple years now.
  14. I like Krebs a lot. He has a really nice combination of hockey IQ, character, and 200 ft game that really appreciate. That’s in addition to being a pretty skilled player with good skating. Just a guy that you want on the ice whether you are ahead or behind, and on both the PP and PK. Probably never a 1C, but if Buffalo rolls some combination of Mitts, Cozens, Krebs, Thompson, Asplund out at C, in a 4 2C’s sort of alignment, he can probably fulfill that.
  15. Contracts on LTIR count against the cap, unless the team is at/over the salary cap. The savings don’t start until you are over the cap.
  16. Kind of a given, no? Anyway, I wish him best of luck with the surgery.
  17. (1) Boychuk is only making $1.25M in salary. The rest was paid as a bonus in July. (2) You can’t “rework” contracts in the NHL. I know this is done in the NFL regularly, but in the NHL contracts are fully guaranteed and terms are not altered after the contract is signed. (3) Welcome to the board.
  18. Holy Crap it’s Actually Happening. Looks like a reasonable deal too!!!
  19. What’s wrong with XXXing out his name?
  20. How do you mean?
  21. Citing their age probably didn’t really convey what I wanted. Cozens does have a much more extensive record of dominating against his peers, in addition to being a bit older. Basically anything you look at; CHL play, Tournament play, take your pick really. He is a more proven player.
  22. When did Weekes get on Pat Brisson’s payroll?
  23. Cozens dominated against his peers for the whole 2019-20 season and also at the 2020 and 2021 world junior championships.
  24. My personal take on it is that just because a player is doing so-so, struggling a little, a bit up and down, that doesn’t mean that their development is being hurt. When do most people learn the most? When they are doing something hard that pushes them to the edge of their current ability, or when they are easily dominating? The Mitts situation was him struggling badly (worse than Cozens, IMO) for a long period of time, over a year. You could tell he was just overmatched, losing confidence, and was just not keeping up. I don’t think that is what is going on with Cozens right now. Cozens is a year older than Quinn. That’s one possible reason. But I would ask you, why would you want to bring Quinn up? He might struggle and that would hurt his development. Isn’t it better for him to be in the AHL where he can play very well? Do you see that as best for his development?
  25. Has Cozens really been that bad though? I’m not of the opinion that he is strictly not ready for the NHL. I thought he did ok last season, but did hit a wall towards the end. Also, Cozens could have been placed in the AHL last season.
