Re-sign McCabe. Trade Risto in package or alone. Find a goaltender split with Umark or don't re-sign Ulmark and find #1 guy via trade. It may take Risto plus to get a winger and a goal tender. The flat cap and expansion draft may actually help us.

At the least.you have the top guy. Only exception in my mind is you trade the pick or you have the flexibility to move othet assets. Defensemen of his calibre are in my opinion more valuable than a forward. Just my opinion.

Still tend to think with the #1 pick you take the consensus #1 player regardless of position. We've picked for position before recently and that pick was shortly moved out.
