  1. Yes, Roslovic is playing there. Slowed down somewhat as he started the year off really strong...... I think what happened was a bunch of things besides the team simply not being good enough to compete in their division. Very poor goaltending, schedule, lots of players under-performing (biggest reason) and bringing in a lot of youngsters (not re-signing people like Stempniak and Tlusty). It should be the same thing next year as I expect to see 2-4 rookies on the team again.....Connor, Lemieux, Petan and Morrissey and even Lipon all will be looked at very hard during TC to see if they should stay with the big team or not. I think Hellebuyck plays the majority of the games next year and Pavs' last year is next season so that is a good thing. I don't think we see the Jets REALLY improving until the 2017-2018 season. As far as Staf goes, he has been good for us and the top goal scorer until very recently but he is holding up the youngsters' development if he is allowed to play top 6....he is a LW on the top line right now.
  2. Staf has played all over the lineup but his contract only has one more year on it and he is a stop gap. Probably not needed next year but I am sure Chevy won't trade him until the TD in 2017. He is getting points on a very similar pace to Kaner. I just think he will be impeding the development of younger players. I like Armia better than Lemieux and Roslovic (1st rounder in the trade) was just named to the all star team.
  3. Do all of the Sabres' 2nd liners get 20 goals? Does any team's? If Armia plays in our top 6, he will get 20 goals. I'm just not sure if he can crack the top 6...he'd have an easier time of it if the Jets traded Stafford... Ehlers Scheif Wheeler Connoer Little Armia? If we draft top 3 and take Matthews,Laine or Puljujarvi and/or don't move Stafford, Armia will have a tough time knocking someone from the spot. He for sure will be getting PK time and Maurice raves about his D smarts. It wouldn't kill me if we end up drafting 4th and taking Chychrun, we could use a good LHD.
  4. Armia is a keeper and would have played 2nd line time tonight if not injured.
  5. Ya, story has it going that a scout went to a game to scout some player and Helle was playing goal that night. He mentioned that Helle should be looked at. I honrstly think that goal is our strongest position moving forward. Helle and Comrie are the goalies of the future and if they can sign Phillips this summer, it'll the position that much stronger. Headshot to Dano tonight got the Preds' player kicked outta the game. Probably get a suspension. Of course the Jets couldn't score for the five.......
  6. From Ed Tait, one of the better sports writers in Winnipeg. While we’re at it: the list of the 26 nominees for the new Mike Richter Award — given annually to the top goalie in the NCAA and first won by Connor Hellebuyck two years ago — includes two Jets draft picks — Jason Kasdorf of Rensselaer, who was part of last year’s blockbuster trade and is now Buffalo Sabres property, and Michigan Tech’s Jamie Phillips. A seventh-round pick in 2012, Phillips is 21-7-5 this year with a 2.00 goals-against average and .921 save percentage. Hellebuyck, you may recall, was a fifth-round pick in that same draft. Whoever is scouting puck-stoppers for the Jets might be banging on Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff’s office bucking for a few more dollars.
  7. Armia out a week with what some are speculating to be a groin pull. Half the lineup is Moose players for tonight.
  8. At the risk of stenbaro calling me a troll... At the very least it shows the coach has confidence in him to play a good D game if he is on the ice at the end of a game... Lots of Jets' fans speculating that Staf could be moved out this summer to make room for younger players. We have a LOT of young RWers with Dano just being picked up. I wouldn't disagree to this move if the return is substantial enough. Wheeler, Dano, Armia and Ehlers are all RWers although Ehlers has being playing LW lately. I don't think we'll make the playoffs next year and if we do, it will be close so if we can get something young with potential in return, I'd trade him. Myers is also brought up quite a bit when it comes to getting Hamonic from the Isles. Another trade that I'd do seeing as Buff and Trouba are RHD and we need a shutdown D man. I'm not sure how much I would add though but it wouldn't be much. Ehlers is out with an eye injury so Armia looks to be getting some time on the 1st or 2nd lines for the foreseeable future.
  9. Obviously, you've haven't seen Mark Stuart play D...
  10. He has come on in the last dozen or so games....he will be excellent with Toews and Hossa.
  11. Armia got 19:20 (2nd highest of any forward) of ice time tonight with Ladd traded and Little out and he scored twice and picked up an assist. He undressed Oduya and Oduya had to look at the big screen to see what Armia did to him... I am telling you, if he can't make the 2nd line it is because Ehlers and Wheeler are playing too good to be knocked down. More competition with Dano coming in too. sidenote...We have a LW prospect (Connor) in the NCAA right now that is ahead of Eichel's ppg of 1.83. Rumor has it he scored twice again tonight.
  12. Chevy swings a pretty good deal for Ladd with Dano and a first and also gets rid of two contracts he didn't want. There is only around 1.1m left on Ladd's contract and Chicago will only have to pay about 700k of it. They're saying Dano will be in the lineup Saturday afternoon in Pittsburgh. He still has one year left on his ELC and scored 21 points in 35 games with CBJ.
  13. Me too. I'm not sure if we finish lower than TO or CBJ but I am sure we can finish behind everyone else. Why should the Oilers get rewarded for consistent mismanagement? Matthews between Kyle Connor and Ehlers would be nice. Pavs played like shite last game so I am expecting the other sieve, Hutchinson, to start Saturday night. I'll be at the Festival du Voyageur watching fiddling and drinking Caribou Juice so I'll have to tape it.
  14. I would bet that Evander has been told that another mishap like this will not be tolerated. I would bet that Evander has been told that in no uncertain terms. He isn't stupid. He has to clean up his image. His next contract should be a HUGE one but he is screwing it up. Also, the way he apologized and kept on saying this will never happen again makes it seem to me that he got a lot more than a scolding and good for the scolder. Whether it was owner, GM, coach(es), teammates or any combination of them. I'd think that it wouldn't take a lot for the Sabres to start shopping him if he screws up again. Can't be screwing up like this in front of the younger players and giving a wrong impression to them. This is critical to building a team. This is his 7th year and he should be a bit more of a role model for the younger players. He does it by keeping in tip top shape and playing 100% every shift, why can't he do it off the ice?
  15. Gorges and Gionta need to have a talk with Kaner before you can declare that. Maybe he'll listen to them. Management can't be happy with Kaner missing practice with all the youngsters on the team.
  16. Myers is one of the softest players on the Jets and when he does rough it up, he seems to go overboard and get penalties. He is picking his spots a bit better when to rush the puck but still gets caught up ice. He is a great skater and seems to gain the O zone failry easy but not the best passer and needs to look after the d part of the game better. Plays big minutes against the other team's top lines but I'm not sure I would have him in that role if I were the coach. Ideally have him involved in bringing Hamonic here in the off-season and playing Hamonic with Enstrom would be a great shutdown pairing. Myers' caphit is 5.5m and he gets an actual salary of quite a bit less so the Jets like that...unfortunately... Bogo is a 2nd pairing RHD when he is playing his game with a responsible partner. He should n't be looked at to produce a lot of points but rather punish you if you get too close to the crease. He's a decent passer and doesn't panic with the puck but really needs to be paired with the right guy. Both Bogo and Kaner were brought into the NHL too early. Same as a lot of Atlanta players. Armia was one of the better players on a sad team last night. Got some 2nd line time with Scheifele and Ehlers. Not as offensively gifted as Ehlers but way smarter defensively.
  17. I was under the impression that Kaner didn't drink alcohol...
  18. tsk tsk, such bottled up anger... You'd think you would get a bit more than a 3/4 D man for Kaner. In the off-season Kaner should get a 2nd pairing LHD and a 1st round pick. Yandle is of no interest to the Sabres?
  19. hahahahha weed must be good in Buffalo... Kane slept in...no big deal....he only missed one practice here if I remember correctly so I wouldn't call it a pattern. Maybe he had a good excuse. We certainly don't know why. I still think he is moved before his contract ends but that's me. He's played really well as of late. What you want me to say? This in no way reflects in any way on the trade unless he keeps doing it. The Sabres knew there is/was a bit of concern for Kane's off-ice antics but this might not have anyting to do with it and maybe he was just held up at the border or something? You guys need to beat the Sens and pull ahead of the Jets in the standings. We need Matthews more than you do.
  20. I always have fun, why live if you aren't having fun? beerme1, Stop what?
  21. I've heard that before.......... Finally, some truth from you. Regarding the playoffs, of course it is every team's hope to make the post-season and it was the Jets as well. If they were really trying to make the playoffs this year, why send the best goalie to the farm? Why aren't they trading for rentals to help make the playoffs. They aren't heart broken over making the playoffs this year and won't be if they don't next year. The following year..................not so much.
  22. From a Jets perspective, there is next to no chance he re-signs if he doesn't play here to end last season. He's played very well and has been one of the most consistent players on a team full of inconsistent players this year. If Sabres' fans are happy paying Kane and Bogo what they are making and Getting Bogo's play and Kane at .500 ppg, they should higher their expectations. He's what? the 2nd highest player on the team? Do you really think the Jets were sure they were going to make the playoffs starting 3 or 4 rookies? Since moving here they have brought in Scheif, Trouba, Ehlers, Hellebuyck, Lowry, Armia, Chiarot, Copp and Hutchinson. I'm actually okay with not making the playoffs again next year if all the rookies are improving. This team is being built for the future, not the present and built the right way, not throwing money away needlessly.
