I think Botterill will take his time and evaluate all positions that are under him including the farm and scouting personnel. I think most major moves will be next off-season after he has had a good long look at things. I would guess he will make some changes to the scouting department if he hasn't already. He must have discussed some kind of plan and how long it will take to get there with the owners before he was hired. If I had to guess, I would think he would try to get rid of KO in the summer and Kaner at or before the TD. I don't know the Sabres well enough to know if you have a replacement at 2C for ROR but the biggest problem the Jets had was losing Little last year. It changed the whole lineup including PK and PP. Second line centers don't grow on trees. You'd get a lot back for Kane and Okposo to maybe fill someneeds on the team. Not sure what you would get for Bogo but is he a 2nd pair RHD or no? I'd give Lehner some patience, the whole team is learning new systems under the new HC and it will take some time. I'll tell you this much though, the team that gets first pick next summer will have a superstar D man in Dahlin for years to come.

Circle hooks are big up fere for Channel Catfish but I rarely use them. Guys I know swear by them. So, went out on the 31st of last month and without scouting we walked out to our spot that produced dozens and dozens of ducks last season. When we got there, the water levels were down and half the water had mud showing. To make a long story short, we shot 6 ducks and 1 goose between two of us...probably the worst opener I can remember for a few decades. Got home and cleaned the birds and went to bed. Sick ever since...just feeling well enough to go out this weekend. Probably go for ruffed grouse. Almost killed me to be sick in bed and all my hunting partners are sending me pics of all the birds they were getting. Two hour drive (only 20 minutes of no pavement) to get to where I want to go for grouse on Sunday. I hear there are lots there so I hope to put a limit of 6 in the freezer. I might go for a quick shoot on Saturday evening if I am up to it and my buddy clears the dead trees from his launch. A quick 10 minute boat ride and you are setting decoys but it is hit and miss. It is usually either hardly a bird coming in or birds all evening.....there doesn't seem to be an in between.

Pastrnak has only played three seasons so the Bruins are probably crying that he is a RFA for 4 more seasons and they have a point there. Comparables from his draft year are Ehlers and Drai. Drai got way too much. People around here are saying Ehlers' next contract should be 6+...I think Drai got over 1.5m too much and Ehlers should only get about 5.5m but that's me. I think Pastrnak is the best player from his draft year and if he signs for 8 years, should get about 6.5m - 6.75m a year. Not much he can do besides hold out and the Bruins are a pretty old school organization and wouldn't panic and over pay. I think he signs in the next 10 days.

Do you mean the guy that had the highest TOI last year? I have no problem with his conditioning or stamina. I think he needs to get nastier and play a more physical game this year. Everyone is saying they are pairing up Kuli with Buff so that should make a hard hitting duo.

Pastrnak is probably asking for 7.5m+ and the Bruins are balking. Their highest paid player makes 7.25m. He scored 70 points last year and he is 21.

Great move for the Sabres! and not bad for Minny. Their D line is strong so they can absorb the loss and Ennis is younger than Pom and I would rather have him than Pom but great trade by JB. Also, Minny sheds some salary (for free agency?). Scandella is a good D man and I bet he is on the ice a lot when Eichel is. If Pom has a resurgence with Buffalo, look out. IF he plays with Eichel, I'll bet he gets at least 55 points......The Sabres are kind of like the Jets in that potential is nice but it is time to start making the playoffs consistently. Great trade for the Sabres. What a great time of the year with all the drafts and rumors and trades. Having said that, I sure hope Chevy doesn't overpay for any of the LHD. Love to have Alzner but he will cost too much. Don't have a need for Shatty. I still think Chevy might have a deal with Vegas if he doesn't get someone in free agency. Said it before and say it again, would like to see Lehner in a Jets' uni.

Why expose him if you don't have to? We will probably lose Dano...rather lose him than Myers. I still want to see Myers traded but not until he shows he is healthy and his return is decent. How much time is he going to get after Trouba and Buff?Bogo being exposed and Beaulieu being protected shows how much Bot thinks of Bogo.

I thi nk Housley will turn into a good coach. Would love to have him coaching our D. A LOT of Selanne's 76 goals in his rookie season were set up with a pass by that short sticked D man. He ended up with 79 assists that year. I don't know too much about systems and coaching but I think he will have great ways of clearing the D zone in a safe, smart way. A great teacher by the sounds of it. Have some parience with him though, he'll make some rookie mistakes.

Three of us took the two hour drive up to Manigotagan and boated 70-75 walleye in 5 hours of fishing....this 26 incher is my biggest of the day. The biggest was 27 3/8 for walleye and 36 inches for Northern Pike. Most fish were 1 1/2 - 2 lbs. We took 10 each and threw the rest back.

Good point. I don't watch them enough but was he not being used at center for a reason? The D resposibilities of a C in his own zone are almost like a D man (in most systems). Lots of centers get converted to wingers once they make the NHL. I'd love to have Drouin on the Jets but the asking price would probably be too high.

The Habs make out better here. Drouin has more moves than a pail of worms. A much more dynamic player and giving up Gal and a late 1st isn't a steal but the Habs come out ahead especially since they have more RFA years.

RyJo is a crafty one. Kesler's work on McDavid is a big reason the Oilers are golfing. Thing is, he isn't doing it to RyJo. He has 4 points in 2 games and Kesler can't keep him off of the scoreboard. All points scored at even strength in the Ducks' building. Now the refs will be watching Kesler even close. RyJo is a smart guy. sidenote ... I hate Kesler

I'd love to see Lehner on the Jets team. You guys have a good goalie there. I think Mason signs somewhere other than Philly. Halak with only one year reamaining would be an interesting pick up but the Isles would have to retain some salary (30%) and take Hutch back. The big question is where is MAF going? He is playing very well in the playoffs and has to be protected. Do the Pens buy him out, trade him, work out a deal with Vegas and keep him?

Hey, I am just wondering if anyone can give me an unbiased oponion of Hellebuyck's play? I am glad we moved on from Ladd when we did but I also think that if he were still captain, Ehlers wouldn't be diving half that much. He thinks he is playing soccer or something. SUI over CAN ... 3-2! Bazinga!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not sure if you guys know this but JB grew up in Winnipeg and has a sister (Jennifer) that had a stellar career with the Canandian National Women's Hockey Team. His dad (Cal) is a sports psychologist and if I am not mistaken, used to work for the Rags organization.

Anyone think they start Hellebuyck next game or stick with Howard?
