Laf is a LW behind Krieder and Panarin and isn't seeing that much ice time. He'll improve. Too bad he's a Ranger though.
-
Julien is a better idea than Torts. I don't think the Sabres should sign a coach until the dust settles after the cup has been won and they know which coaches are available.
-
He had a bad game but still a great backup. That poor showing knocked him down to .914 sv%...the team in front of him didn't give him much help last night. I think he gets a starting position next season.

Sabres Trade Eric Staal To Montreal for 2021 3rd and 5th Round Picks
Ducky replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Trading Staal was a very good move. If you ask me. the Habs over paid. Those draft picks can also be added in a trade to acquire much needed players/picks/prospects. Hall, KO, Skinner, Eakin and possibly Miller should be the next ones up. -
They need to move out some pieces (Gioardano, Monaghan, Johnny (regular season) Hockey for starters. There are only a handful of starters I wouldn't trade if I am the Flames' GM and speaking of him.....how does he still have a job?

1-5 now. Hopefully 1-6 after tomorrow night. Lucic is a goon and should get suspended for a hit on Appleton tonight.

Sabres Trade Eric Staal To Montreal for 2021 3rd and 5th Round Picks

He's done. I'd be totally shocked if he played next year. -
I was sick in bed with the chills and a headache for two days...third day (Friday) was better. I still have a bit of a headache. Small price to pay. Stay safe everyone!!!!!

PLD and Laine had no trade protection either. Eichel can force a trade, no two ways about it.

Brossoit is going to get a starter's job after this season. A really good goalie playing lights out this year. I'll hate to lose him but LB is too good to be a backup.

GDT: 3/18/2021: Boston at Buffalo 7pm MSG-B/ESPN+ WGR A NEW ERA

The 81-82 Jets were winless for 30 games in a row. -
I am not sure but I think I will be getting the Astra Zeneca if I had to guess. Dr. Anna Banerji, an infectious disease specialist at the University of Toronto, told CTV News Channel on Tuesday that other provinces should follow British Columbia's move to extend the interval of vaccine doses up to 16 weeks given Canada's limited vaccine supply. "I think it makes sense," Banerji said. "The ultimate goal is to maximize life and reduce suffering and the way we do that is by getting as much vaccine out to as many people as possible." Banerji explained that the first dose of a vaccine gives a person immunity, while the second dose is for longevity. "So if you give [the second dose] in one month, two months, it really doesn't make a difference as long as as many people as possible get the vaccine," she said."

I get the vaccine on Tuesday...2nd one in about 3 months.

What was Jack's injury in TC? Shoulder?

Trade him for a pick and a prospect. If you want to re-sign him, do so this summer.

My point of view is to fire RK and KA and get an experienced GM and prez of hockey ops to straighten things out. Hextall would have been a good option. The next coach doesn't have to be the one to lead them to the cup but he has to be the one to help straighten things out and get the team to play a certain way EVERY game. When teams play the Sabres they should know that they are going to get 100% effort from every player on every shift. They play the same game whether up by a goal or two or down a goal or two. Although, if you clean house, Eichel will probably want out. The organization has a conundrum.
-
You'd seriously trade Eichel for those two AND take a salary dump? More like send a salary dump.
-
Jack shouldn't be traded but if he is, Skinner should go with him.
-
Ladd is on the taxi squad and if I remember correctly, his deal is 1m per season and the rest is a signing bounus throughout the term of the contract. The best re-signing Chevy didn't do.
-
You don't give up on an elite player signed long term because he is having an off year...no matter the reason. Shipping him off with your 2nd best forward for a guy with 2 more seasons on his contract and another with 4 is bad asset management, especially since Eichel is on another level than the other players. There'd be 31 teams lined up for him if he were to be made available and the return would be a king's ransom. I think he has been playing hurt since TC but that's just me.

Fixing the Sabres Long-Term - Can it be done?

If you're re-building, have the patience to know you won't win a cup in 2 years and it takes a lot of pain before building a contender. -
Left the morning practice early...something tightening up...didn't dress for the Sens' game...first game he has missed in the NHL due to injury.. Jets luck.

-45C (-49F) tonight with the wind. I'd hate to have the Jets get shut down for any period of time right now. It is supposed to break this Monday but this is the longest cold snap I can remember for quite awhile. Probably helps to stop the spread of Covid though. Too freaking cold to go anywhere. On a normal year, I would be leaving tomorrow for somewhere warm for about 3 weeks. It was supposed to be Panama this year. Fishing while drinking beer, birdwatching and later drinking beer, sightseeing and drinking beer at different stops, eating the local food while drinking the local beer. I'm going to miss traveling this winter...

From what I heard, CBJ wanted both players and wouldn't trade PLD for Laine straight up. Roslo was sitting out wanting a trade. He wasn't going to crack the top 6 here and when he did, he didn't show very well.
