No interest whatsoever in Risto. Rhino would have to be extended for around 5 years if he is included in a major deal. Also, trading Pionk leaves a gaping hole on the right side of D. We haven't got over losing Buff, Trouba and Myers in one off season yet.
-
I know they don't but I trust the organization not to rush him and to develop him properly. Scheif was drafted in 2011 and didn't really play until the 13-14 season. Laine is the only player I can think of off the top of my head that made the team straight out of the draft.
-
KC, Copp and Perfetti? I'd have to think long and hard but I'd probably do it.
-
Like you said, Risto adds nothing to the deal. KC 38g in 72 games last year and 26 in 56 this year while enduring his longest slump in the pros. I believe he has the 4th or 5th most goals in the last 4 years. KC is the reason Chevy could afford to trade Laine's goals away. This is his 2nd year of a 50m over 7 year contract. Pionk 45 pts in 72 games last year and 32 in 54 this year. He was paired with the anchor that is Forbort for the great majority of the season. Our best D this year and a RFA after this year. 3m AAV the last two years. Perfetti will play on the Jets next year if not allowed to play in the AHL. Probably a future 1C for us but for sure a 2C. The first is a first not much to say really. Picking around 18th I think. Too much in my books.
-
From what I hear his skating is vastly improved and he really developed well on the Moose. He played center and got the player of the month in April? I think. No way in the world do we give up a 1st, Scheif, Pionk (our best D this year) and Perfetti for Jack and Risto.
-
Just wondering what it would take without Scheif involved in the deal. I'd still trade Scheif straight up for Eichel in a heartbeat. KC Eichel Ehlers would be one of the best lines in the league.
-
I'd probably do it if it were Rhino and not Risto. Apples hasn't played center for us. He pretty much plays on Lowry's right wing. I wouldn't be interested in Risto in that proposal. I would be if it were Rhino.
-
What if it were just Jack and no Risto?
-
What would it take from the Jets? Scheif and Helle are off the table.
-
I hope he is gone. PLD and Ehlers might not play and Copper was in a non-contact jersey and didn't play the last game of the season. I hope that if PLD and Ehlers (I don't expect him to play at least the first 2 games) don't play, it doesn't give Maurice an excuse and Chevy keeps him. He is set to make 3m next two seasons with the 2nd one being a club option. If he's fired, I expect him to be swooped up by Seattle. He's a good coach for teams with young up and coming players but not sold on him once a team has "come of age".

Beer and pizza. Can't go wrong.

Lots of good players are/were whiners. Gretzky/Hawerchuk/Crosby/Toews/Scheif/Bobby Clarke/Doughty come to mind off of the top of my head. I think that they think the bitching and complaining helps, especially in the playoffs. ex. ... "Watch that guy, every time I go into the corner he's hooking/slashing/holding me." My opinion anyway...

"Germs can travel quickly through a community and make a lot of people sick. If enough people get sick, it can lead to an outbreak. But when enough people are vaccinated against a certain disease, the germs can’t travel as easily from person to person — and the entire community is less likely to get the disease. That means even people who can’t get vaccinated will have some protection from getting sick. And if a person does get sick, there’s less chance of an outbreak because it’s harder for the disease to spread. Eventually, the disease becomes rare — and sometimes, it’s wiped out altogether." Smallpox has been pretty much wiped out.

Or tetanus, smallpox, chickenpox, diptheria, measles, mumps, whooping cough, etc...

Byfield, Turcotte, a 1st and 2nd is exactly the type of trade the Sabres should do but I can't see why the Kings would do it seeing as they are in a re-build mode. I'd try to squeeze a bit more out of them if they are hot for Eichel, especially if another team in their division is bidding for him. Risto doesn't want to be there?...gone. No use keeping players that don't want to be there. Rhino won't sign long term?...gone. Should be able to get 2 more first round picks plus for those two players. Anybody else that doesn't want to be a Sabre?...gone. Do not overpay anyone just to keep them. Next season play your youngsters and live with their mistakes and see which players are keepers. Drafting or trading for a #1 goalie should be high on the list as well. Play the hell out of him and let him see lots of different situations while the team is rebuilding. Every team's objective should be to win the cup but in reality the Sabres are more than a little bit away so you might as well see what you have and get some high draft picks the next couple of years and let those players all come together and peak at more or less the same time. Keep some vets like KO to show the youngsters the way. As far as Skinner goes, I really don't know what should be done with him. The NMC he has really handcuffs the team. I know the Sabres' fans are running out of patience but a proper rebuild is probably the way to go. Go through 3 or so lean years and then start making the playoffs consistently while building a legitimate contender.

I am not a big believer of +/- especially for offence first players but after your post I looked it up. Lots of offence first players have bad +/-. Dahlin E Staal N. Patrick Rhino Laine Savard Hughes Olofsson Sanheim Miller Wheeler are the top 11 in order...silly stat if you ask me.
-
Jets scored 5 last night and Wheeler (on pace for 74 points in 82 games) had 4 points but ya, his contract is worse than Skinner's, Vlasic's, Ladd's, KO's, Johanssen's, Eriksson's, Seabrook's, etc... Anyone on the Sabres have 44 points this year or on pace for 74 points? Rhino and Eichel maybe but that is probably it and they are gone this time next year. People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
-
I can't see the Ducks trading for him as they are in a re-build now mode. I also think they have to add to Zegras like a 1st and a player like Manson. NYR, LA, CBJ?, and Minny are believable. CBJ could trade Jones (re-signed) and he would be a great partner for Dahlin, a 1st and another substantial add. They'd be hot to get Eichel to play with Laine to try to get his game back although I don't think Laine is there for more than 2 more years. Philly always like to make a big splash. I also think the Blues will take a crack at him. Vegas would but they can't afford him...only dressed 15 skaters the other night because of cap issues.
-
He's on a 74 point pace in a 82 game schedule this year but truth be told, I wanted him gone before he signed the extension. I was suggesting to trade him to OTT for Stone and more and Jets fans jumped all over me. He would have got more in free agency though. The difference is, I am not sitting here telling you I said something when in fact I said something else. I know what I said and I admit it. Oh ya. He'll be 37 when his contract ends. He's 34 and has 3 more years. Not a boat anchor of a contract but not a good one.
-
Chevy is a pretty good GM but I have problems with his loyalty. Wheeler 5 x 8.25m...Perreault 4.125m x 4. He does get some good contracts signed though. It'll be interesting to see what PLD does next year and what he signs him for.
-
I'm not arguing that. I am pointing that you said you called for a long term deal when, in fact, you were calling for and then liked the bridge...big difference.
-
Hindsight, that comment was a season AFTER Rhino signed the bridge.
-
Not sure if this works but it is page 23 for the day of the signing. The other comment was July 6th, 2018 of the same thread. Also, complaining about it after the fact is hindsight and anyone's vision should be 20/20 with hindsight. I was wrong about JBot as well as I thought he was going to do very well. I did agree with the extension to Rhino at the time as well. For a player taken as high as he did and putting up the numbers he did, I would never sign a player long term for big bucks.
