  1. Again, I'll place more of the blame on the coaching as I do believe there is talent in this organization. But, acquiring some grit and toughness is the GMs job and Kevyn should realize this club needs this also, especially if and when they make the playoffs and the physicality really picks up while the refs whistles get put away. That's on Kevy. Again, I was hoping Donnie was going to be the guy for us, but every season comes up short for whatever reason and in my opinion, he has had more than enough time.
  2. Truth. I have never seen a club not able to finish like this one. If the goaltending isn't superb, this club gets crushed. Please if there is a God, make a coaching change at seasons end at the very least for an experienced coach. I wouldn't mind the GM getting shipped out as well after the trade deadline presser. Rubbish!
  3. My take, after another uneventful trade deadline for the Buffalo Sabres: Either there weren't many takers for what GM Kevyn was offering, or, many players that may have been moved expressed no desire to play for this club (Using a NMC if they had one), or, GM Kevyn along with TPegs truly believes that this club is perhaps just another season away from getting the playoff monkey off its back. I, for one, won't believe in anything this club does until there is a coaching change and perhaps a GM change as well. I cannot see this group, as constructed, making the playoffs anytime soon. I do believe the talent is there, aside from some much needed grit and toughness. It just needs to be coached much better and accountability needs to be emphasized. Please bring in some veteran hockey people to right this ship. What has been going on in the past decade continues to fail. Just my take.
  4. and yet none on that list ever played for THE BUFFALO SABRES.
  5. I'm actually excited to find out. We may yet grow to love this guy. Have to give him a chance. I'm sure he's not too thrilled about missing the playoffs this year.
  6. 13 seasons of minimal to no entertainment. I've had enough as well. This was the year it was going to change wasn't it??? What about next year? Or the year after to hear GM Kevyn tell it, or current coach Don Granato? As long as this "dynamic duo" remains at the reins of this club, I am expecting no playoffs. Despite the talent assembled.
  7. and not against Carolina who seems to be rolling right now.
  8. I know right? Only in Sabreland!!!
  9. All coaches have a "best before date" comes with the deal. Eventually players get too comfortable, the contracts are signed and the money is guaranteed. That is when the GM has to make a change. As the saying goes with coaching "you're hired to be fired". Part of the human condition. Notice how well players perform when they're close to hitting bonus targets or are playing for new contracts? I do believe players tune out their coaches after they have been together for several seasons.
  10. Edmonton for one. St. Louis, LA. And maybe the Islanders although currently, they are still on the outside of a playoff spot looking in. The others mentioned are currently in a playoff spot. You don't and it ain't happening this season.
  11. Jack did it successrully as well! He got "lucky in Vegas!"
  12. and I don't say it lightly. Personally, (although I have never met the man) I like Don Granato and was hoping he would be "THE GUY" to lead us out of the darkness. It is plain to me now that he just isn't it. He had enough time and to see the complete regression this season, with the same continuous mistakes being made and lack of accountability, we just cannot continue with him at the helm. I wish him all the best wherever he lands next.
  13. Exactly, I was all in for a change once they were out of a playoff spot by that date. I hope they manage to sign one of the available coaches before other clubs suck them up by the off season. (and hoping that one of them may actually want to come here and try and fix this mess) Berube, Gallant, hell, I would be satisfied with Boudreau. We cannot go into another season with Don Granato as head coach.
  14. Oh I agree, why would he want to? But to say (as many did on this board) that he wouldn't have helped this club is just folly. He knows how to put the puck in the net and that turns out to be this season's biggest weakness in Sabreland. He is helping out the Wings big time!
  15. Absolutely. Playoffs were done by US Thanksgiving. That statistic is around for a reason.
  16. If KA could do it, he would have done it by now. My patience with management is done. Management and coaching is the biggest overhaul the club needs. There is talent to put on the ice. Needs the right coaching and a tougher management group.
  17. Truth! Also the fact that many on this board didn't want Patrick Kane here feeling he wouldn't help. He has fit right in nicely with Detroit! Imagine adding another scoring forward to the Sabres lineup? What's this season's biggest weakness?: scoring goals.
  18. and audition kickers at training camp. Its the NFL, at $5 million per, you're expected to make those.
  19. Watched the Canucks/Hawks game and under Tocchet, Myers has a lot more grit in him than he ever has- and it's working for him. Coaching matters big time! Myers would be the Sabres toughest guy in that lineup (and that's not saying much)
  20. But that's why you have one and why he gets $5 million per year. The Bills left him on the roster so you go with him. Not so sure that will be the case next season. As for Bill, I actually would love to see it but I don't think that's happening at all. The Bills can't have nice things!
  21. I blame Bass. You win by making 40 yard field goals when that's what you've been hired to do. Yes it was windy but he' s not a rookie. The snap and hold were fine. Winners make those. I'm sure there will be auditions at camp for place kicker next season.
  22. Especially the power play (as so many others on here have noticed) and the line of players coach DG sends out in the final minute when the Sabres are down a goal (again, many on here have noticed that as well, it's "non-sensicle")
  23. Also, in 2013-14, a Roy coached Colorado Avalanche club got 112 points on the season. Not too shabby. The unfortunate part was they were eliminated in the first round. But overall, Roy has a winning record as an NHL head coach in 3 seasons of work. Time will tell, but in my opinion, yes, I think he's capable.
  24. How do you figure the Islanders are a better team with all the number one draft picks the Sabres accumulated over 13 playoff less seasons? Matthew Barzal is a good one, maybe Bo Horvat and Sebastien Aho. Who else? It isn't that stunning of a lineup. Not sure why you think the Islanders are actually a better club. Lou is dissatisfied and expects more, maybe that is the difference?
  25. Bottom line is this: The Isles are underachieving and Lou has seen enough. What's the Sabres excuse this season? A good GM doesn't waste time.
