  1. And unfortunately, as of US Thanksgiving, the Sabres (once again) are on the outside looking in to the final playoff slot. Unless they can seriously put something together by, or after Christmas, the Sports Centre cutoff doesn't look good for these guys. Maybe they can be one of the teams to buck that trend but to be honest, nothing I've seen up until now leads me to believe this is going to happen. They beat teams they weren't supposed to and crap the bed against teams they should beat. NYI on deck and yes, the Sabres should beat them. We'll see soon enough.
  2. Losses to Columbus and Montreal were games the Sabres were supposed to win and they didn't. It's a wash.
  3. Some on this site don’t believe the Thanksgiving benchmark “is a thing”. I agree with you that it absolutely is. Not many teams (and certainly not this one) turn things around so much that they end up making it in after being on the outside by that point (at least not without a significant change in either coach or player personnel). Also known as the Sport Centre Cutoff. I hope the Sabres are there or very very close at cutoff time.
  4. God bless Lindy. ( aside from that one little stretch where they lost to Columbus and Detroit) They are starting to look more "matured" if you know what I mean. I hate the overseas crap that Buffalo started their season with (and I hope they don't do that again for several seasons) so I don't count those dismal performances. They just look different now under Lindy than they did under Granato (and I love what I'm seeing!!)
  5. Plus, give him some time with Lindy coaching him. In Ruff we trust!
  6. If they keep winning, it will definitely be happening! No worries there!
  7. To me, this game seemed to show that Lindy is rubbing off on the players. Their breakouts, passing and positioning is much stronger than under Granato. Defense still has occasional lapses, but I'm sure that will get worked on. So far, nice to have Lindy back behind the bench. You can see the improvements. (just my opinion). Good move to ride UPL until he needs a rest. He looks like a bonafide #1 and he was winning. Keep going with what's working! Dare I let myself get excited about Sabres hockey once again!!! But it's a better October than this fanbase is used to in recent times! I'll take it!
  8. I have seen nothing from this seasons version that indicates to me they are any different than the team from last season or the season before that. If they aren't in the playoffs by US Thanksgiving, they will not be in the playoffs. I had this disagreement with another poster here last season about this and that "myth" was true once again. Book it! Unless some incredible trade gets made (and seriously, with Kevyn Adams as GM, I am seriously doubtful of that) or something changes in the mindset of this group of players, I just cannot see this club playoff bound. The defense is still pathetic as is the Power Play. They had better beat Columbus.
  9. They have until US Thanksgiving "to be in it"- or you can count them out of it (again). You cannot throw away early season games and hope "to get hot" down the stretch. This board has said this before and it never comes to fruition. "it's early in the season", "so many games left" "if they get hot in the next stretch they'll be alright"- it never happens with this club. All the other teams in this division have improved their clubs, it will be harder this season than in seasons past. They need to come to play yesterday!
  10. Absolutely. How many more seasons do you want to give T-Pegs in hoping he finally comes up with the right mixture to make this club successful once again? Sell it to an owner who actually goes to the games and gives a ####! One who is smart enough to set up your front office with experienced hockey people and an experienced GM for the love of God. I don't fear the team will move under new ownership as I feel Bettman and the league won't allow it. The fan base is incredibly strong in Western NY and across the border. It's just that they have been mistreated for 13 (hopefully not 14!!!!!) seasons that apathy has set in. The fire could return instantly with a promising turnaround that has yet to become reality. Plenty of money can be generated out of Western NY if you could build a competitive and entertaining hockey club.
  11. I'll take Reimer over Comrie any day of the week! Good insurance signing if either UPL or Levi fail.
  12. They did make the second round of the playoffs under Green (but that was only once and it was during that horrid Covid bubble of 2020)
  13. Apparently YOU'RE GUESSING also. As you say "I think likely" (so you don't know for sure either)
  14. I do believe LaFontaine was against it. Hence his departure.
  15. I would love the assistant to be Jay McKee! He has done a wonderful job coaching the Hamilton (now Brantford Bulldogs) and all their young players. Loved how Jay played defense for the Sabres as well. This club could certainly use Jay as an assistant and get the D to take some bodies a dish out some hits.
  16. Maybe both told Kevyn "Thanks, but no thanks"? I am also open minded to Lindy. Emotion we will get and I don't think that's a bad thing. I agree, the rest of the staff is a huge key!! Let's see what New Jersey does next season under Green before you write him off. Hopefully Lindy does much better than Travis but I believe a full season under Green and Jake Allen in goal will get the Devils on the right path once again.
  17. To whom? If this truly was the case, Berube and Gallant's agents would have contacted the club regarding the coaching vacancy. Apparently that hasn't happened. I can't see Lindy getting the job over either of those 2 if they made themselves available to the Sabres organization. I'm good with the Lindy hiring but I do feel we, as Sabres fans, over value the players in the organization. Let's see what Lindy can do with them or we see who stays and who gets shipped out for next season. I'm not completely 100% sold on the players in the organization. Some will bloom, others will fail.
  18. I really really hope Lindy is the guy to get this club back in the playoffs. I feel a bit apprehensive at this signing. My personal preference would have been Gallant or Berube but I did love Lindy once. I am afraid if this fails yet again, it will tarnish his history as Sabres coach and the club goes another season of no playoffs. I wish Coach Lindy all the best this upcoming season. Really hoping for "the old Lindy magic"! For all I know, maybe Gallant and Berube's agents already declined that their clients would come to Buffalo and I don't think Brind' Amour is leaving Carolina. God bless you Lindy- here's hoping for the best!!
  19. I'm talking about having any faith in the organization getting the correct coach here to get them in the playoffs, based on their previous hiring records and what the end result turned out to be = 13 seasons of failure. I hope that cleared it up for you.
  20. and we know how adept this organization is at hiring "the right guy"! 13 seasons strong!!!
  21. Truth! I was hoping he would be "the guy"! He is a good man who can develop young talent. He may just not be suited to head coach positions.
  22. I'll take Gallant as well!! Just give me someone experienced please for the love of God!!!!
  23. He will become the new Head Coach!!!!! Surprise *****!!!! LOL!!!!! While I'm kidding, it does worry me he isn't axed like the others!!!
  24. Unfortunately for the 13th season in a row: It wasn't!
  25. and the Leafs actually got to round 2 last season.
