  1. and I don't say it lightly. Personally, (although I have never met the man) I like Don Granato and was hoping he would be "THE GUY" to lead us out of the darkness. It is plain to me now that he just isn't it. He had enough time and to see the complete regression this season, with the same continuous mistakes being made and lack of accountability, we just cannot continue with him at the helm. I wish him all the best wherever he lands next.
  2. Exactly, I was all in for a change once they were out of a playoff spot by that date. I hope they manage to sign one of the available coaches before other clubs suck them up by the off season. (and hoping that one of them may actually want to come here and try and fix this mess) Berube, Gallant, hell, I would be satisfied with Boudreau. We cannot go into another season with Don Granato as head coach.
  3. Oh I agree, why would he want to? But to say (as many did on this board) that he wouldn't have helped this club is just folly. He knows how to put the puck in the net and that turns out to be this season's biggest weakness in Sabreland. He is helping out the Wings big time!
  4. Absolutely. Playoffs were done by US Thanksgiving. That statistic is around for a reason.
  5. If KA could do it, he would have done it by now. My patience with management is done. Management and coaching is the biggest overhaul the club needs. There is talent to put on the ice. Needs the right coaching and a tougher management group.
  6. Truth! Also the fact that many on this board didn't want Patrick Kane here feeling he wouldn't help. He has fit right in nicely with Detroit! Imagine adding another scoring forward to the Sabres lineup? What's this season's biggest weakness?: scoring goals.
  7. and audition kickers at training camp. Its the NFL, at $5 million per, you're expected to make those.
  8. Watched the Canucks/Hawks game and under Tocchet, Myers has a lot more grit in him than he ever has- and it's working for him. Coaching matters big time! Myers would be the Sabres toughest guy in that lineup (and that's not saying much)
  9. But that's why you have one and why he gets $5 million per year. The Bills left him on the roster so you go with him. Not so sure that will be the case next season. As for Bill, I actually would love to see it but I don't think that's happening at all. The Bills can't have nice things!
  10. I blame Bass. You win by making 40 yard field goals when that's what you've been hired to do. Yes it was windy but he' s not a rookie. The snap and hold were fine. Winners make those. I'm sure there will be auditions at camp for place kicker next season.
  11. Especially the power play (as so many others on here have noticed) and the line of players coach DG sends out in the final minute when the Sabres are down a goal (again, many on here have noticed that as well, it's "non-sensicle")
  12. Also, in 2013-14, a Roy coached Colorado Avalanche club got 112 points on the season. Not too shabby. The unfortunate part was they were eliminated in the first round. But overall, Roy has a winning record as an NHL head coach in 3 seasons of work. Time will tell, but in my opinion, yes, I think he's capable.
  13. How do you figure the Islanders are a better team with all the number one draft picks the Sabres accumulated over 13 playoff less seasons? Matthew Barzal is a good one, maybe Bo Horvat and Sebastien Aho. Who else? It isn't that stunning of a lineup. Not sure why you think the Islanders are actually a better club. Lou is dissatisfied and expects more, maybe that is the difference?
  14. Bottom line is this: The Isles are underachieving and Lou has seen enough. What's the Sabres excuse this season? A good GM doesn't waste time.
  15. Do you think Don Granato is? I bet the Islanders get more points under Roy with the games left than the Sabres do under Granato.
  16. Nope, they aren't the guys. I don't think that's a question anymore. The talent is there I believe, but it just needs to be coached properly and perhaps a little "tough love" to such a young squad when called upon. I didn't like the way the final 2 games of the preseason looked (and I know it was only preseason but I believe the lineups were almost the starters for this season) They didn't seem to resemble the prior season's club that scored and attacked. Nor DG. Definitely not DG.
  17. It was over after US Thanksgiving. Several on here don't believe in the Sportscentre stat but I do. The odds are so heavily stacked against a club that is out of a playoff position at that point in the season. This club showed me nothing to indicate they were going to turn things around. Not under this current coaching staff. It was even evident in the final couple of preseason games.
  18. Watch what happens, Gallant will get hired by another club as well. Anyone of note will get sucked up before this club makes a move. I'd love to know who gets the Sabres head coaching job next. Nothing like being afraid to pull the trigger (and the trigger needs to be pulled!)
  19. And I believe it is because they are so young as a group. They need a tough voice that won't tolerate laziness and sloppiness. Donnie may just be too nice of a guy.
  20. Truth! Time to bring in experienced hockey people. Some on here thought Torts and his ilk might be too old school for the newer younger player but I beg to differ. These are very young men who need some discipline to reach their potential and Torts has done a great job in Philly and I would have loved him here also. The newer, fresher coaches and GM hirings are not working out for this hockey club (13 years staright now) so let's kick it "old school".
  21. Exactly. I do believe the talent is here and in Rochester. That's why it bothers me so much to see it wasted. If things don't change soon, some of this talent will want to be elsewhere, and I hate to see them perform well for another club and wish what could have been here. Look at the Flyers this season also under Torts. Basically the same lineup as last season, but so much better structurally and it shows in the standings. It's time for Don to move on and I have no animosity for the man. I wish he could have been 'the guy" but it is all too apparent, he just isn't.
  22. Bring Gallant in anyhow (if he would sign here) I want it and I would bet, things would change here. Talent is there, just completely poorly coached.
  23. Hoping for a Sabres power play goal (especially this season) won't get it done. Canucks played a sound road game. Matt Ellis should have been fired weeks ago and Don Granato likewise. Unfortunately, no intestinal fortitude or interest in this organization from its owner will allow this mess to fester.
  24. This game is turning into what the Canucks (and Tocchet) want; Intimidate and run the Sabres. Their powerplay is crap so no worries there and you make the Sabres rush their plays when they hear the footsteps coming. This is a Tocchet playbook!
