  1. Do you think Don Granato is? I bet the Islanders get more points under Roy with the games left than the Sabres do under Granato.
  2. Nope, they aren't the guys. I don't think that's a question anymore. The talent is there I believe, but it just needs to be coached properly and perhaps a little "tough love" to such a young squad when called upon. I didn't like the way the final 2 games of the preseason looked (and I know it was only preseason but I believe the lineups were almost the starters for this season) They didn't seem to resemble the prior season's club that scored and attacked. Nor DG. Definitely not DG.
  3. It was over after US Thanksgiving. Several on here don't believe in the Sportscentre stat but I do. The odds are so heavily stacked against a club that is out of a playoff position at that point in the season. This club showed me nothing to indicate they were going to turn things around. Not under this current coaching staff. It was even evident in the final couple of preseason games.
  4. Watch what happens, Gallant will get hired by another club as well. Anyone of note will get sucked up before this club makes a move. I'd love to know who gets the Sabres head coaching job next. Nothing like being afraid to pull the trigger (and the trigger needs to be pulled!)
  5. And I believe it is because they are so young as a group. They need a tough voice that won't tolerate laziness and sloppiness. Donnie may just be too nice of a guy.
  6. Truth! Time to bring in experienced hockey people. Some on here thought Torts and his ilk might be too old school for the newer younger player but I beg to differ. These are very young men who need some discipline to reach their potential and Torts has done a great job in Philly and I would have loved him here also. The newer, fresher coaches and GM hirings are not working out for this hockey club (13 years staright now) so let's kick it "old school".
  7. Exactly. I do believe the talent is here and in Rochester. That's why it bothers me so much to see it wasted. If things don't change soon, some of this talent will want to be elsewhere, and I hate to see them perform well for another club and wish what could have been here. Look at the Flyers this season also under Torts. Basically the same lineup as last season, but so much better structurally and it shows in the standings. It's time for Don to move on and I have no animosity for the man. I wish he could have been 'the guy" but it is all too apparent, he just isn't.
  8. Bring Gallant in anyhow (if he would sign here) I want it and I would bet, things would change here. Talent is there, just completely poorly coached.
  9. Hoping for a Sabres power play goal (especially this season) won't get it done. Canucks played a sound road game. Matt Ellis should have been fired weeks ago and Don Granato likewise. Unfortunately, no intestinal fortitude or interest in this organization from its owner will allow this mess to fester.
  10. This game is turning into what the Canucks (and Tocchet) want; Intimidate and run the Sabres. Their powerplay is crap so no worries there and you make the Sabres rush their plays when they hear the footsteps coming. This is a Tocchet playbook!
  11. Poor Erik Johnson, the only guy with some cajones to anti up. This Buffalo Sabres squad is sad and evenif they did scratch into the playoffs, they'd get run out of the rink. Until coaching changes are made, I expect no playoffs.
  12. He's done a hell of a job as Canucks coach though. I'd take him as coach of this soft Sabres team.
  13. Zadorov with a nice hit on Cozens. Too bad things didn't work out with him in Buffalo. I's like him back!
  14. And he was soft on the puck clear just now allowing Vancouver to maintain possession which lead to Samuellson having to ice it. He allowed the Canuck player to catch him from behind when he had time to move the puck out of the zone or shoot it out.
  15. Hasn't it always been that way? Montreal gets the Montreal calls in La Belle Province!
  16. Damn right. He'd be stapled to the bench for the third period, irregardless of the All-Star nod earlier today!
  17. I'd love to see what would ensue if he pulled that with Gallant or Torts as head coach!
  18. Torts is a good coach. Rough around the edges but he holds players accountable. Love Torts!
  19. Absolutely. People are down on Power and I get it, but I won't throw in the towel on the kid because he is talented. He just needs a serious coaching staff tohelp him mature and use the skills he has. Defense has been horse #### with this club for over a decade now and each new coaching staff refuses to address it properly. Again, I believe there is just way too much talent in the dressing room tp be in the spot they're in. It is being completely pissed away with this coaching staff. Any of these young guys moves on from this club and you'll see "what could have been" yet again.
  20. I'm in full agreement with your post. It has been terrible coaching choices for over a decade now. Too much talent in that dressing room and it is being completely wasted. Sickening.
  21. Totally agree. Having Granato and staff stick around means more of the same old same old. No point to that either. I totally believe this mess is on coaching and has been for the past decade. The talent is there in my opinion but it needs a new direction (and perhaps a harder direction) This is spinning your wheels stuff now. Zero reason to keep Donnie and staff.
  22. Oh I agree. Berube just may be able to write his own ticket. I still prefer Gallant (which is the real reason I said I'd be willing to accept Berube) Basically, I'd like a coach who is a bit harder on the boys and will hold them accountable for their play. Not to make excuses for them. In other words, a little more "old school". I'd be happy with either guy. Very happy.
  23. and the Nolan teams were accountable to each other and busted their ass, game in and game out. I went to many of those and those games were entertaining.
  24. I think any of us that bother to post, or read the posts of others on this site care about the Buffalo Sabres. However, as you continue to see the same results for the past 13 seasons under different coaches, GM's etc. and to see a team, that in my opinion, has some solid talent and promising youth in the organization, you start to tune out and find other things to do with your life. Until serious changes are made bringing in some veteran knowledgable hockey people (the current process of giving unproven individuals the head coaching jobs and GM positions just isn't working) expect more of the same as we squander a decent full cupboard of talent. Again, just my opinion, but Donnie G (and I do like the guy) isn't working out and neither is Kevyn. I would be more interested in investing my time in this club if they were replaced. Playoffs weren't happening and I still stand by the Sportscentre US Thanksgiving stat. If you aren't in a playoff spot by then, the odds are heavily against you. Quinn's return won't be enough to right this ship this season. The playbook on playing the Sabres is out: Bring a heavy game and you will defeat them.
