  1. Then I bet you played hockey without a helmet, and honestly can't remember if the back seat in the family truxter had seat belts? How did you survive those years? First two periods tonight Sabres will be in it, in the third the Habs come out with a 1-2-3 goal punch and the Sabres are lying on the ice out cold. Habs 5..Sabres 2...
  2. Wow, your old, you probably remember rotary dial pay phones....This is the pot calling the kettle, by the way.
  3. At least you have more than one brain to mess with, my lonely single one is shot, and yes I do put most of the blame on the Sabres..
  4. I shoveled my roof off, not awesome, but snowmobiling during the Super Bowl was!
  5. Wish I was in Nashville enjoying that game, it's 12 deg F here.... Polar votex....Canadian clipper....call it what you want it's sucks by any name...
  6. The Sabres have to win (CHL) = Loose in NHL Buffalo has been playing terrible hockey (CHL) = Good hockey in NHL May be considered an understatement (in CHL means they should have lost when they won) = In the NHL means they should have won when they lost Not going to beat Habs in Montreal (Loose in CHL) = win in NHL The Tank is not for the weak, I'm starting to loose it, or are we are all going mad ???
  7. My off the cuff statistics say their next win will be April 1st. Blow leafs blow are in Buffalo, it's April Fool's Day, they play well against the blowers. I do look forward to a regular start time for this game, and a reinvigorated Cody after his rest. It's all the positivity I can muster...
  8. If the Bills where in the Super Bowl would any of us even know or care how the Sabres where doing till mid February?
  9. At this point my "LET'S GO SABRES" is done gone, speak your mind, I don't care....but I'm probably in the minority.
  10. I'm going watch, hoping that the game is as much fun to watch as the Caps n Penguins on Wed night was. Didn't care about the score in that one, just watched a good game where both teams wanted to win bad. No staged fights to "motivate the benches", just end to end , hard hitting hockey. Give me that regardless of score, show some pride is what I am asking of both Edmonton and Buffalo. If they don't grant me my wish on just this one night, I will wish for the rest of the season that their man jewels are hit nightly with errant slap shots.
  11. All I know is all this game day talk has me excited about the game!
  12. I'm hitchin my horse to Crusader1969's post. It's not 2005 anymore (prior actually), no wealing and dealing for top line players. No lure of big money to get a player on your team to take you deep on playoff run. The only way to get the Malkins and Crosbys and Kanes is by draft. No amount of money will buy them, so you can't buy a pair of cornerstone players, you have to draft and nurture. Success is most probable picking earliest in the draft, hence the need to tank.
  13. My take on Hodson is he is un-coachable. Lindy- old school coach, lots of yelling, belittlement and cursing trying to get Cody to back check, go into the "tough" areas to score...didn't work. Rolston- "new generation" coach. Sweet talk, lots of diagrams, you get a trophy for trying to back check, go into the tough areas to score.....didn't work. Nolan- "motivational" coach, pep talks, heart to heart, inspiring stories of achieving personal greatness, and so far Cody has how many goals? Excuses like.. must be the coaches just aren't using him right or giving him the right players just doesn't sit well with me after all this. It doesn't take good players around you to look good, good players look .......good. He looks like Villie Leino out on the ice, just less injury prone.
  14. That's it, a little 19 year old wake up call to responsibility. It's been on the news for 2 days prior that this storm will shut down the east coast, make the effort to make sure you get to work on time. We all do it, you leave a little early, or the boss makes sure you know he doesn't like your effort. Kaleta was a whole different story, if they needed him, he would have got there. They mutually agreed for him to stay home is what I remember.
  15. Last I saw there where 1700 flights cancelled along the east coast due to the storm. He probably got caught up in that. GMTM just can't say "O'well there little Buckaroo, see you when you can get here". He's suspended because there should be no excuse for missing practice. My 2 cents anyway...
  16. Just want to say THANKS! to IKP for taking the time out to enlighten me on the statistical theory of hockey stats.
  17. Thanks to a little girl and her complete ignorance to the politics and all the political correctness that goes with being pro or anti tank, made the game! She waved her little Sabres flag and kept chanting "Lets go Sabres!!". Her Mom tried to stifle her enthusiasm, I believe Mom thought the little girl was getting on the last nerve of those around her. That's when my wife stepped up and asked for her flag, waved it all around the Philly fans and they both yelled "Lets go Sabres!!". She gave the flag back, and told Mom "it would have been way cuter if your little girl did it". Mom smiled as to say thank you, and the little girl when on chanting and waving the flag for the rest of the game. If the Philly fans turned to looked at the little girl, they got the icy stare of death from the section, she became our antithesis of the current fan mood. She was just living the game day fun and enjoying the moment while cheering her team, I could think of no one better to sit by!
  18. I knew I had heard that expression before, but I didn't even know where to start looking. That you guys for that, made my morning!!
  19. Thanks everyone for the heads up. Would have love to skate (the skates were in the car) but the whole area was packed, it was a perfect winters day to be downtown and thousands of people thought the same. I didn't realize that the last time I took my wife to a Sabres game it was at the old Aud (the last year it was open), she reminded me of that, and loves the fact that we could actually walk around and feel safe now! No more going without her, she also made that clear, and looks forward to our next trip. Our last thoughts as we left to go home Saturday night where just how many people where there and the overall great atmosphere, for what is quite possibly one of the worst NHL teams ever. What will it be like in a few years when they should be on of the best teams....
  20. We went to the Philly game on 1/17, got in and parked early (around 3 pm). Walked up to Canal side to watch everyone skate. The place was packed, it was 38 deg and partly sunny, the perfect winter day to be downtown. Walked over to 716 around 4-4:30, got in line to just get into the bar, we where told a five hour wait for a table. After a 10 minute wait standing outside we went in and had to go to a specific bar because of capacity codes. We got a drink and quickly figured out there was no way we were ever going to get food before the game started. So we left. The moral of the story, when 18,000 people have the same idea, there will be long lines.
  21. It is so refreshing to read up on this thread and take in all the positive energy after a glorious win! What is a little worrisome is the talk of trading off veteran leadership that is leading this team to a CHL championship. Those players are crucial to get us to the minimum salary requirements, and by bringing in ECHL or OHL players not only do we loose their underpriced achievements, we quite possibly could get worse and not better within the CHL.
  22. So I sit with some form of Sabres apparel on, with outward expressions of wanting them to win, but secretly, and with quiet humility hoping for a better pick in the draft . I can do this for a couple hours, I'm practiced at such things. I get dressed for the occasion, sit quietly and only say nice things, while thinking much different thoughts, we call it diner at the inlaws!
  23. I'm going Saturday, so I would like to know your position on proper, at the game, tank etiquette. My three personas at home seem to be 1.)Wear Sabres gear and cheer when the other team scores. 2.) Sit quietly devoid of all emotion like your another teams scout. 3.) Go full on tank and cheer the complete lunacy of it all. #3 usually involves more alcohol than 1 and 2. [quo te][/quote ]
  24. I'm starting to understand now....I was under the assumption that in order to get into 716 or Tim Hortons you had to use your game day ticket and go into HSBC, and once in , there was no going out and back in again. Sorry I was so confused. We try to make one game a year, and last year our game was Ted Nolan's first game back, none of this existed. Plus it was a weekday game, get out of work, go straight to seats, game over go straight home. Last year we noticed some new bars and restaurants out side of HSBC, but wanted to get home. Mainly because we worked the next day, but also because the Sabres played the Leafs. The bars were filled with disgusted Leaf fans after losing to the last place Sabres and they were as unpleasant as ever. This year it's all about the "experience" and taking our time to enjoy all that is new (well to us anyway).
