That would honestly be pretty fun. The NHL would be better off if everyone was GO GO GO on offense instead of concentrating on defense to a stifling degree. I'm not saying that the Oilers would succeed doing that, but could you imagine?

And oh yeah - Ottawa is really killing it in their playoff series with Montreal after their heroic run to 8th place. Brassard's fine but it helps when the wingers include St. Louis and Nash. Who did the Sabres have that compared? We haven't had a winger with that much star power since Mogilny.

Eichel is like the best of both Getzlaf and Toews except faster with more skill.

I'm thinking more LaFontaine - Hawerchuk except I think Eichel will be better than LaFontaine and Reinhart could be as good as Hawerchuk. I think Eichel is a leader and a beast but for some reason I have visions of Reinhart taking a critical last minute faceoff in a late round playoff game in the FNC with the crowd losing their f'ing minds from the excitement. I think he'll be the unsung hero during our Stanley Cup years.

I definitely would have preferred Turris and Brassard to Eichel and Reinhart. They could have been this generation's Plante and Holzinger. Throw in keeping Darcy and Rolston and eighth place here we come!

Murray will draft Eichel at #2, he'll play in Buffalo next year, and everyone will be happy except for the Murray haters who will probably be crying that he didn't smile during a press conference or something.

I wonder if Chiarelli goes back to Ottawa. That's from where they hired him, and sadly, with Bryan Murray's health, they may need him. I still think he's a good GM. I don't think it's fair to fire the guy after just missing the playoffs based on winning a Stanley Cup, a President's Trophy, and making the Finals twice in the last three years. And it's true they have some problems now, but if you create future problems by going all in to win the Cup, and then you do, then you should get a pass for a while. If the Sabres had a chance to pick up one or two guys knowing they'd be in cap hell in a year or two and they worked out like Ron Francis or Butch Goring and we actually won, would you be bitching two years later?

I know someone else called you on it, but what says Tim Murray doesn't have loyalty or integrity? Why would he be loyal to Ted Nolan? He didn't hire him. It sounds like Nolan and him didn't have a great relationship, and didn't communicate that much, which GMTM put on himself as well as Ted. He never said during the season he was going to keep him at the end of the season. It's not like Ted ever said he agreed with and supported the moves GMTM made. Plus, Murray has worked with a lot of the same people at different jobs from the NYR to Anaheim to Ottawa. You can claim nepotism, but it seems to be he has good relationships with a lot of people in the league, including Chuck Fletcher of the Wild who seems to be a reliable trading partner. I don't see how you can claim he doesn't have loyalty. What type of loyalty should he have - to a coach he didn't hire and who has lead his team to consecutive 30th place finishes, with historically bad analytics in multiple categories? To players he didn't bring in and doesn't feel represents the type of team he believes will contend for the Cup? To Pegula? To the fans? Who hasn't he been loyal to that he should have? Plus, are you basing your claim of no integrity on the fact he made a statement in a hastily called press conference on a Sunday night that his intent wasn't for the Sabres to finish in last? He explained that himself. He said he brought in players and was hoping for improvement, and if the Sabres were in 24th or whatever at the trade deadline he may have tried to resign some guys. It's such a throw-away line and people keep focusing on that like he said "I did not have sexual relations with that woman". Sheesh. What else did he say or do to demonstrate a lack of integrity? The tank itself?
