  1. It sounds nothing like Terry. It sounds like the opposite of Terry. And it's definitely not going to be what Babcock believes because Babcock isn't delusional. But if someone thinks Katz is a better owner than Pegula I'm not sure what to say about that.
  2. It's not an easy transition to wing, especially with only four games of practice, and especially when you've been playing center your whole life. I play defense on one ice hockey team and I used to on my upper-level team but they added all these guys who play D and I'm a taller guy and good along the boards so I have been playing wing for a while. It's a transisition. I actually am not a huge fan - it's boring to just cover the D in the defensive zone - and it's definitely not the same as playing center.
  3. 5-0. What do you think about the Sabres going after Matt Beleskey?
  4. I'm guessing that is why he mentioned Aaron Williams.
  5. Look, I get that there is thankfully only a select few of you who don't like Pegula or Tim Murray. But there is so much conjecture it's mindnumbing. First of all, this idea that someone would have no faith that Murray will make the right hire for coach is based on what? He's never hired an NHL head coach as GM before! He did offer Ted Nolan a contract, but Ted was already here, and it was the right thing to do at the time. He also let Ted hire his own assistants. Tim did have some input in some pretty good hires in Anaheim and Ottawa, including Mike Babcock and Luke Richardson. But until he actually hires his first head coach as GM and then the guy is here for a year or two you can't really pass judgement on his abilites to hire a qualified head coach. What, do you miss Darcy and his choice of Ron Rolston? Secondly, how does one claim GMTM is an "emperor"? Because he makes decisions? If you watched the Sabres draft videos, you see how much he values the input of his scouts. He extended Ted Nolan, and then told us later that even though he had suggested some options for assistant coaches, he let Ted hire his own staff. It's obvious he also let Ted play who he wanted, including in net, tank or not. He also let Ted suspend Zadorov because that is what Ted wanted to do even if Tim disagreed. If you're basing this on who GMTM traded or who he called up or sent down to Rochester, well, that is not the coach's call - especially when he doesn't have a great relationship with the coach. He didn't have any relationship with Ted before he got here, and they apparently never developed a close one, which GMTM admitted was as much his own fault as anyones. However, and I love Ted, but he does not have a good track record of getting along with his general managers. GMTM also said in his press conference that if he hadn't had a chance to see Rochester play for a while that he relied on his scouts and his coaches on the Amerks to give him feedback on who was ready for a call-up. I don't see any "emperor-like" behavior out of GMTM. Tim Murray has a strong personality, and I can see why it might rub some people the wrong way, but I love the guy and I still completely trust his plan and what decisions he'll make. If the Sabres are still horrible in a few years, I'll change my opinion then.
  6. There is no way Eichel isn't in the NHL next year. I wonder if I can lay a bet down in Vegas.
  7. Just imagine Eichel and McDavid dropping the gloves at the opening faceoff ala Iginla - Lecavalier...
  8. It would be pretty sweet to knock out Philly, Toronto, and Boston en route to the Finals. But we have a lot of bad memories with a lot of clubs to avenge. Pittsburgh Ottawa Montreal Carolina Islanders We can knock out different teams every year as we build our dynasty.
  9. I'm down with this, but I'd have Zemgus center or play wing on the third line with Larsson, and try Grigo in that spot with Reinhart. Like I posted elsewhere, he liked the idea of playing wing with Reinhart, so why not give him a shot? Plus a Larsson-Zemgus-Foligno third line would be a nightmare for a lot of team's first line.
  10. Start listening around the 12:26 minute mark. He talks about wanting to wait until after the playoffs so he has the biggest pool of candidates. http://media.wgr550.com/a/104118300/tim-murray-presser.htm?q=ted+nolan Do you honestly believe Tim Murray's salary had anything to do with why he was hired?
  11. Yeah, I think I definitely need to do it. The Cubs game was only $23 for actually a pretty good seat, and paying out of pocket for a hotel room a day early was only $80 for a Hampton Inn (I'm HHonors), which made it a no-brainer. When I saw I could do the Blackhawks game too, I just had to consider it. I mean, the Hawks ticket will cost me more than what I paid in the past year for Paul McCartney and Fleetwood Mac, but man it would be worth it. And I did just get my tax refund...
  12. It seemed to be Babcock did a lot of talking about old and young players in his press conference yesterday. I am not sure where his mind is, but I'm hoping the idea of working with all the good young players on the Sabres now and coming up the pipeline might excite him. Buffalo seems like a better gig to me than Toronto or Edmonton, just based on the greater depth of young prospects. I'm hoping, anyway.
  13. So, I'll be in Chicago for business all next week. I am going to arrive Saturday night just so I can go to a Cubs game at Wrigley Sunday at 1:30. I can get a Blackhawks - Wild ticket for 7:30 Sunday but the cheapest actual seat is $160, which is actually cheaper than I anticipated. You can get Standing Room Only for around $110 or so but from what I'm reading, it's a waste of time. I'm really considering it. It would be pretty amazing to be in that building for a playoff game.
  14. I think Terry Pegula has made no secret of his wish to emulate the Detroit model for player development. I'm sure he is a HUGE fan of Babcock and he'll do what it takes to try to get him if he thinks that is what the team needs. I also like the fact that Babcock just turned 52 (yesterday). He has a lot of coaching left in him.
  15. After all the times I've kissed Pegula's ass, I'm not sure he wants his lips touching mine.
  16. I remember both Scott Stevens and Brendan Shanahan. Those were both pretty big ones.
  17. Because you're always negative. I knew what your answer would be.
  18. Are you complaining about Pegula's ownership of the Buffalo Bills? He's been the owner since October! Sheesh!
  19. Great minds think alike! I totally didn't know where to put this thing, but I figured it might fit as Grigo could be a good winger for Reinhart on the second line if they developed some chemisty - in one game, of course.
  20. Not spent??? Sat on his hands, or waited around and filled his roster with undrafted free agents, I suppose. I'm not sure about what Drane is complaining, other than the old "go out and get a great starting QB in free agency" argument.
  21. Very good article about Grigorenko. He talks about playing wing with Reinhart in Rochester and how much he enjoyed it and felt comfortable. http://www.amerks.com/newsX.asp?type=News&aID=1287
