I was only using that as an example of something Adams would say to hint that Pegula was meddling to protect one of his favored players (which I don't think Pegula is doing). But what you say is true and you have to wonder why Adams hasn't identified this as a need for the Sabres.

He blamed just about everything else for his failure (palm trees). If there was an internal cap, or he had to protect the owner's favorite players, you don't think this weasel would have said something? 'Jack Quinn is very important to this organization, and the feeling is that he needs every opportunity to grow and learn at the NHL level.' Adams said that these were HIS guys, who he would be happy to go to war with. He said that HE knows how to win a Stanley Cup. He said that the owner has put no constraints on his management of the team. Believe him. This IS Adams team.

That's not true. Adams signed Hall to an $8M contract during Eichel's last season. Adams also traded for Staal that year. Adams had money to spend, even with Eichel's, Skinner's and Okposo's contracts on the books.

I think Renhart was entirely on Kev. He was rebuilding the team from the ground up, and Reinhart didn't fit that timeline. I don't think the money had anything to do with it because the Sabres were under the cap and ended up taking on a zombie contract. Add another comple of million to that and you have Renhart's RFA bridge deal. Of course, being the weasel he is, Adams shifted the blame to Reinhart by claiming that he didn't want to be here, which is nothing more than a bullsh### excuse.

Kev gave some slimmy answers in that presser. You can see how he worm-tongued his way into the GM job.

Good thing Brandon Beane wasn't in the audience, because he would have laughed this pathetic poser off the podium. Funny how the Bills are a destination team in the NFL playing in the same city.
