  1. What did you think, Patty friggin La was going to run our team? When I first heard he was hired, I nearly threw up in my mouth. That's like Jim Kelly being hired by the Bills as GM. Friggin ridiculous. He has/had zero knowledge of how to scout players, deal with the CBA, or run a team. Zero. This is addition by subtraction. We now have an actual organization being run by experienced hockey people.
  2. No doubt. This, paired with what he did in Long Island, speaks of very poor character. I really don't think anyone can feel bad about a person like him leaving. He can kiss any future as an NHL team executive goodbye. Very poor decision making in his part. Don't let the door...
  3. That's only if Pegula knew about the trade. What if TM didn't tell him beforehand?
  4. It must be tough for Nolan. He's a guy whose job it is to win, but the front office's aim is to further dismantle any winning potential from the team. I wonder if Nolan and the FO are not on the same page.
  5. He could be stepping down as a result of Nolan getting the boot. Wouldn't like either situation though.
  6. Yeah, I don't see a problem with this. He's the GM, he needs to delegate responsibilities.
  7. I do have to say though, despite being in last place, its a very exciting time to be a Sabres fan.
  8. I didn't watch the Miller and Ott press conference, was anyone else there (PLF, Pegula, Murray)? If not, it would be extremely strange and concerning PLF wasn't there to break the news and wish them farewell.
  9. Maybe one of them saved money on their car insurance? Being serious, I have a feeling Pegula is somehow involved. Considering Pegula seemingly randomly offered the GM job to PLF, despite him having zero experience as one, I have a feeling Pegula is meddling somehow.
  10. It's just that by not categorizing a player as "good", you're insinuating he's not a good player or even a bad player. Nevertheless, potato, potato, Ehrhoff should be dealt at the deadline. Following what the Sabres are doing, we don't want good players, we want players who currently resemble good players and will be good players in the future, if that makes any sense.
  11. They may definitely give up a good player, we see this all the time. What they won't give up is a good player currently on their roster that could help them have success in the playoffs. That said, they will give up good players/prospects currently somewhere in their farm system. In terms of good players currently on a teams roster, I don't think this is what the Sabres covet, either now or in this coming offseason. They want young players that will make their splash 1-3 years from now.
  12. A lot of women also call me Big Stick. However, it has nothing to do with my last name.
  13. I agree, mostly, but simple math tells us we aren't going to see a huge number of 1st overall picks amongst the scoring leaders. There's only been 10 of them picked over the last 10 years. They're rare birds, so nothing much statistically can be said about them.
  14. Awesome. He should then fit perfectly into the Tank plans for next season.
  15. I highly doubt anyone knows this but Garth Snow. And even he probably doesn't know either. He has to see what position they get, what their draft board is, and how the draft is unfolding. Supposedly by a few picks before. And I'm just regurgitating something I read on here.
  16. So, if we are going to field a good team next year, one that we would be in the fight for a playoff spot, why would the Sabres ever want to trade Miller? For good or bad, he's a playoff-calibre GT and would be coveted by any playoff-hungry team with a GT hole (which we would be without him). That said, unless he's dead set on leaving via FA, if we want the Sabres to be fighting for a playoff spot, there's very little reason to trade him. Conversely, if he's traded, I expect a full on tank next season.
  17. The biggest question here should be: if we resigned Miller, does this mean tank is off for next year? I find it difficult to believe Miller would re-sign here if our plan is to install a non-competitive team next season.
  18. Yep. You said what you said. But, I really did enjoy reading it. Thanks for giving us a run down in what TM had to say.
  19. I would just love it if some sportswriter hack wrote an article with this as it's basis. In thought of something cool though. It would be great if teams could trade wins along with players. Say, if a bubble team wanted to make the playoffs, Sabres could send them 10 or so wins in exchange for players/picks. Both teams get a huge boost.
  20. Are there any rules against demoting most our team during the Olympic break, just so they don't become rejuvenated from the break and turn hot?
  21. People are very pleasant here. If you don't believe me, wander over to the misery of Two Bills Drive. Spend some time there and then come back.
  22. Probably not much. After all, who the hell wants to live closer to their wife?
