  1. Nice way to celebrate the new 2-year contract extension, eh Krebs?
  2. Auspicious. Right at the beginning of the film....
  3. This is the way. But silly question: Do they get to take an expanded roster over to Europe? Like a free third goalie for the week to have an injury call-up already on the same time zone.
  4. Donuts don't work on me. Only money!
  5. If waived, he'd likely be claimed by Columbus, which still needs to get to the cap floor and could play Krebs on their 3rd line. Barring a long-term camp injury, the question will be who is more likely to pass through waivers: Rousek 1x775k or Krebs 2x1.45M?
  6. Some Sabrespacers wouldn't like him. He's 5-10 and only 174#
  7. And we're online https://www.nhl.com/sabres/video/buffalo-sabres-live-stream-6336966456112
  8. I think we'll see a checking line, but Ruff often has his "parts" line. A faceoff, PK, or PP specialist. Or a kid. Kotalik was a staple on the 4th line, often with Gaustad. And then mix-and-match as the game dictates (Gaustad, Drury on the ice late to protect the lead). Afinogenov-Rasmussen-Ray in 2000-01. And he'd just run a goon squad: Peters-Mair-Kaleta 2008-09. Here's a 12/21/2022 lineup from Ruff's 112-point Devils -- with an amendment to put an injured Palat back in (and Zetterlund/Holtz as the 4W, based on TOI). 90 Tomas Tatar - 13 Nico Hischier - Palat * (for Zetterlund) 56 Erik Haula - 86 Jack Hughes - 63 Jesper Bratt 44 Miles Wood - 20 Michael McLeod - 70 Jesper Boqvist 17 Yegor Sharangovich - 91 Dawson Mercer - 49 Fabian Zetterlund/ 10 Alexander Holtz Top 6. Checking line (what we'd call 4th). And then a kid line. And Mercer was on PP and PK lines that season, so his TOI ran 4 minutes higher than the others in the bottom 6. No one is gifting Kulich a space in the Sabres lineup, but Ruff could easily see him as a 4th-line PP2 guy with his VO-level shot.
  9. One thing Kulich has that Krebs does not, is a legitimate NHL-caliber shot. In addition to the forwards breakdown, the Columbus goal was a missed shot turned perfect pass off the back boards.
  10. The online stream clock is... fun. Was there 10:43 or 1:43 remaining? Is it the 3rd period or OT1? Keep guessing!
  11. Kulich shrugged off 2 or 3 checks and broke a tackle on that shift.
  12. Darker, grittier. But what's wrong with Batman '66? Goal!
  13. Hey, it's hockey on a Friday afternoon! Panocha needed a bit of a wake-up call/smelling salts a couple times. At the close of the period Ratzlaff and he talked through some communications and expectations. Helenius looks like a kid, but he and Östlund and Wahlberg had plenty of puck possession -- they'll score one before the end of the game.
  14. This is how we track whether we're winning or not in colored lights.
  15. Don't look up who his center was... don't look up who his center was... don't look up who his center was... Dang it. I looked.
  16. And you know who is bigger than Ehlers today (6-0 172# per nhl.com/Jets roster)? 2024 Dev Camp roster Rosen.
  17. Rosen is adding muscle, but he was a smurf when drafted (listed 5-11 161#). 2022 Dev Camp 5-11 156# (lighter than listed draft weight) 2023 Prospects 5-11 168# 2024 Prospects 6-0 178# Rosen is big enough to survive in the NHL. One more year of filling out and he'll probably be in the mid 180s, which is solid. By comparison, Kisakov is the guy who is struggling to really fill out: 150#, 164#, and now 165# (this Prospects Challenge). A long time ago, Patrick Kane was 5-10 165 as his listed draft weight; he's now 5-10 177# on the Wings roster.
  18. Too soon. Ruff hasn't even held a single practice. We could still see a Benson - Thompson - Quinn top line, Cozens - McLeod - Tuch second, and Zucker - Lafferty - Malenstyn third line that wouldn't be on anyone's radar.
  19. I appreciate Poltapov.
  20. Sabres Prospects involved in Prospects Challenge 2022: Forwards 17, Defense 8, Goalies 2 2023: Forwards 15, Defense 8, Goalies 2 2024: Forwards 13, Defense 7, Goalies 2 The winsome Sabres fan will say, "There's no need for extra prospects, because there aren't any folks to play 1 game and sit the rest because they'll be trying to make the NHL roster." The cynical Sabres fan will say, "EEE means you can't bring in too many prospects to the tourney because that extra travel and food budget costs $$$."
  21. Levi is ready for backup duty, but is probably in ROC to get playing time. Johnson is ready to be a 6-7 on the Sabres. Beyond that, I don't know that any of them are ready to compete for a spot that fits. Until injuries occur. This season, I'd rather have Greenway on the PK than Kulich. I'd rather have Benson/Quinn/Zucker/Peterka battling for top-6 wing spots than Rosen. There will be openings next year.
  22. Maybe it'll be the Sabres. You can make a ton more money in the merchandise/other sales category when your team is going to the playoffs each year, as well. Or if you're the must-see attraction for opponents' fans. Being relevant means you draw both home and away. And if the Sabres, particularly GMKA, had invested in a starting goaltender since losing Miller, they wouldn't be going on 14 years without playoffs. Lehner was playoff-capable, but self-defeating, and the roster was still in tank-recovery. But if they had extended Ullmark before his UFA, or traded for or signed a real UFA starting goalie instead of retired Anderson/not-ready Luukkonen, they'd have been in the playoffs handily in 2022-23. Next season, Luukkonen will be the first starting salary goalie they've rostered in 7 seasons.
  23. Rest in peace, Mr. Jones. I hear he did some voicework over the years for CNN, The Simpsons, and such. But I also like his underrated contributions to the Jack Ryan films and turning snakes into arrows.
