Same as it ever was...same as it ever was
Same as it ever wa..... <head whip> And with that, from the greatest concert film ever... No, not The Last Waltz.
-
Capitals...capitals...capitals... I've already used the Imperial Senate reference for the Sens...
So this is how democracy dies, with a blaring foghorn and a Sabres goal.
-
Wow. I expected to wake up and find a couple pages already. Maybe because it's Saint Nick's Day and Knecht Ruprecht has us all worried. Perhaps a rousing song?
Here comes McJesus, here comes McJesus, right down the goal mouth lane... (Until Gorges crushes him into the boards.)
The Foligno-Larsson-Gionta line has to have a great night tonight.
-
Kulikov: There's too many of them.
Fedun: She's gonna blow!
Gorges: I'm hiiiiiiiiit!
Wedge: They're headed for the medical frigate. Blue-46, get set up for your attack run!
We've called up a set of castle villages! Let's go, Buffalo!

I really, really, REALLY like hockey.
No you really really like good entertaining hockey.
We all really, really like good entertaining Sabres hockey. I'll drink to that.

Kane with a great game! He's coming around.
At some point, Jack sets him up for a tap-in like last year --- and instead of missing those 3 or 4 like last year, he's going to score.
Check it out -- the better team won tonight.
-
That was the most Kane rush ever, by the way.
Blow through everyone and miss entirely.
Evander at his Kaniest?
-
All too easy.
-
Next shift, Carrier with Eichel and Reinhart...
Don't let the last goal for the Rangers fool you, 5 on 5 we are the better team thus far.
-
Remember, it's not a slashing call unless the stick breaks.
-
Good shift from the Larsson line. Energized by their bouncing goal and adjusting to the reduced ice time that comes with Eichel's return.
-
Feel the hate flow through you. Taunt that goalie!
-
Prince Vesey, you are part of the Rebel Alliance and a traitor. Take him away!
(Although I totally respect his game and his over-the-summer game. He just wanted to live and play where he wanted to live and play. Just like any other person in any other job. So... I wouldn't boo him tonight. But by golly, we're gonna boo him relentlessly tonight. I hope he's fragile and can't take it and ends up -4 with 3 blatant turnovers leading directly to Sabres converted rushes.)
-
I think Kane gets the empty-netter after Eichel legs it up ice, rather than just flipping it out of the zone.
-
No, he is Princess Leia
I'm glad we've established this.
Close to 5.
-
Kane! Shoot from everywhere!!!!!
-
Interference on the glove! Make the right call, Toronto. Or ref. Whoever decides, make the right call.
-
Good check by Methot there. But the O'Reilly line settles it down. And earns a powerplay.
-
Everybody lost it except Stone. Lesson learned: must clear the zone when you get the chance. Good gravy, we've lost the spring our step the last five minutes. Clear the zone!!!! ach.
-
Good kill on a chintzy call. I see I haven't missed much.... this period.
We're even better at not going too many men with Jack back!!!!
-
Jack's back, they should score 1.85 goals tonight
Time to raise expectations! At the conclusion of regulation tonight, I want the team to be averaging 2.0G/game for the season.
-
Carrier bumped to the 1st line with ROR & Okposo. Moulson dropped to the 4th with Grant and Girgs.
Our first two lines are going to be overflowing with energy tonight. Love it.
Yup. Just heard it --
48 - 90 - 21
9 - 15 - 23
82 - 22 - 12
26 - 27 - 28
I am comfortable with these lines.
The Injurial Senate is no longer of any concern of ours. I've just received word that the Emperor has reinstated our health, permanently.*
*(injuries can't be turned off in real life)

I think we're going to set the record for most too-many-men penalties this season. It's uncanny.
What are we at so far -- 6? 8? More? I'm sure there's a site that has this tracked.
At least this wasn't as egregious as other too many men penalties. He was in the process of jumping over the boards when the puck hit him. The other player was a couple strides away and slowing up... just like any regular change.
5 as they just said.
-
Does the failed empty wraparound miss come back to haunt the Caps?
Also -- Okposo-O'Reilly-Samson. Getting Reinhart some right wing scoring line time for when Eichel returns next week.

Definitely. I also find Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem to be exemplary practitioners of modern American music.
OT - Has anyone else noticed that... with the purchase the Muppets, Lucasfilm (Star Wars and Indy), and owning the rights to Lloyd Alexander's novels... that Disney sort of acquired your childhood?
Kulikov did look pretty bad last game and Bogosian rusty, as well. But just before they both went down earlier this year, they were looking solid. Give them a few games to get back up to speed, get in synch with each other as a pairing, and watch as we have two bona fide top pairings (just like the Blackhawks recently). I'm not breaking up McCabe-Ristolainen any time soon. And we ice a cagey 3rd pair -- with Gorges playing the Roszival role.
A Fflam is undaunted!
