There is a Shark equivalent of Alamo/Death Star Mode. It's called the Shark Tank! (still well behind, but all square)
And in the second I admitted I like how the Sharks play. But I like how we play too (when we're going for goals in the third, that is)
-
Half the PK couldn't get off the ice, and Burns and Pavelski work quickly to make us pay. I don't think the Sharks will be going into the oceanic equivalent of Alamo Mode tonight....
And I'm well delayed... but maybe they will Alamo. Let's get #3

I like how San Jose plays.

The Sharks have a great plan and are executing it perfectly against the Eichel-Reinhart line. Immediately pinch the wall. Leads to a penalty against a gassed line. Hope we survive the penalty.
They pinched Eichel before center ice, and twice Reinhart on the half-wall. All turnovers. Try going up the middle next time, young 'uns.

Which Senator do I have to call to make this happen?
Binks?
I'll show myself out.

New Jersey... day after the Super Bowl... New Jersey... the day after the Super Bowl. Jersey... It's a trap!

All too easy.

Leafs just scored -- that's what we need. Beat those Bruins in regulation. No three-point games for our division rivals the rest of this year! Now the Western Conf comes to Buffalo for the next month. Let's punish them, and also win those divisional games and see where the chips fall in March.

Good game. Obviously, the defense always looks better when you get the shutout, but they kept everything to the outside. And Ottawa only controlled play for that 10-minute section of the 2nd period. Otherwise, we were either in charge or playing even. Nicely done. Let's keep playing hard the rest of the way.

Ennis is getting his game back.
That is who I'd like to see get a goal here, on a dish from Eichel.
What I am disappointed in is the crowd. The lower bowl is already emptied with 1 minute left to go -- and going for the complete annihilation. Support your local goalies, folks.

Good recovery by McCabe. Glad to have the Jake back in the lineup.
-
Ristolainen looking very solid in the corners tonight, even better than usual.
Go get 'em, Evander! Extra penalty to Ottawa, I hope, but it's gone to commercial so we must wait. We should be on the power play

There's that 3rd-period game-leading forecheck and two more. But don't let up! Go 5 whole... goals.
Remember the Death Star!

Life, Marty. Life.

Nice hands, Reino!

Two-goal lead.... Remember the Alamo/Death Star! Don't let up -- remember a couple games this season when we controlled the third and were still forechecking? Let's do that and get 2 more.
-
Back-to-back great shifts by the Eichel line, then an icing. And the Okposo effort takes advantage! Let's keep it going!
-
It's ok, we like a third period comeback.
It's time to grab your nearest monkey (or B. Crumb variant), put a hat on it, and rally. Definitions of rally may vary.

Every team around the league has its inconsistencies, failings, and bad nights. The bad teams have more, the good teams fewer.
Our main problem is we're currently 6-13 versus the Atlantic this season (6-10-3). Those 3 OT/SO losses don't help at all because the other team gained points on us in those games. That's why we're not contending for the playoffs. Even a 9-10 record would have us right in the thick of things (probably where we all hoped to be at the start of the season... not necessarily make the playoffs, but keeping it really close).
But this must be next season's goal: win division games. It's the next stepping stone.
(get top-end talent, win home games, win division games, win a few road games, win playoff games, win series, win trophies)

Alright -- off to an adventure this evening. Here's to a hopeful comeback! Let's go Buffalo!

GMTM originally was modeling our team more or less on the heavier roster like LA, right? Well... these small Canadiens are skating circles around our guys. Even our fast guys look slow. They're so small they're avoiding our turbolasers!
-
Ice seems heavily tilted to our side. Not sure what everyones happy about.
It's entertaining, yes. But we're getting one shot and then they're in our zone for 30 seconds and get 3. We've got to win our one-on-one puck battles and gain some possession. Flip the tilt.

Ha-hey! The NHL app has added the Eichel OT winner vs. Nashville to their "And now a popular clip from nhl.com" commercial break suite. They also added the Carey Price leather-flash at the end of regulation to force overtime last week. Good. It's time to update the commercials.
This period, Bylsma needs to break out the double-bladed saber.

So episode IX will have a title that leads back into "The Phantom Menace" -- Finnegan's Wake-style.
The Force Awakens The Last Jedi To Begin the Hunt For The Phantom Menace
It's like poetry, it rhymes.

Hey!!! It only took about a season and a half, but Kane finally buried an Eichel cross on a two-on-one!
