Back to back good shifts. Keep firing!
-
Now switch the deflectors on, double front. Toronto is going to go on the attack and we need to escalate to match and dismantle it.
-
Nice patience by Dahlin, Miller with a blast, and Angry Larry with the tap tap.

Olofsson checking well on that final shift. Ties up Tavares at center ice, then tangles the defenseman behind the net. Good period. A few weak passes in the o-zone led to Leafs chances, but otherwise we kept them to the perimeter.

This one's gonna be close.... inconclusive. I'm way behind!
-
Good pressure; great saves.

Buwahahaha! Soon the trololos will infect you and you will be one of us. My work here is finished, my friends. I will continue the housework and await the pregame.
The sad thing is... that video went viral back when the Sabres were still making the playoffs.

Changing a light switch, cleaning up the house, incidental repairs.... good adulting and a sense of accomplishment, got some Clone Wars on the background to get ready for the new final season. Throw in a Leafs game and I'm feeling... well...

Ponda Bogo finally succumbs to the loss of his arm and disappears into the dusty alleys of Mos Ahla. Will we see him again in a hockey sweater? Always in motion is the future.
But for today, we must keep our mind on where we are and what we are doing. Hockey and beer. Let's go play crazy and even better get a win (in regulation) to make it all the more fun for the fans.
-
Injuries catch up to most player and time catches up to all players. I have good memories of Bogo's first Sabres game, and of the shot of him and Reino and Jack walking down the Arizona hallway after the brawl at the end of the game -- laughing away. Alas... what do y'all do with the bunker? Make a wine cellar or a cantina or something?

I just don't like how this was handled earlier. As soon as Bogo and Pilut came off IR, Pilut went to ROC and Bogo should have been given a conditioning assignment of 4-5 games so we could see what he could do (and maybe he looks good and we can move him quickly). But the longer it dragged out and it's been shown he's not yet fully recovered, his value to us on-ice and off-ice isn't there.

So what does this mean?
It's like something out of a dream...
No one wanted to trade for him and we've got better defensemen than him. I guess the hope is (edit: maybe some GM just take a flier...) he doesn't report to Rochester and we can ditch the contract early?
-
Good to see Olofsson back. Werenski's reach saved them a point.
-
Skinner with primary assist and the driving assist.
-
Woohoo. Good job, Sabres.
-
Even Hutton deserves standing up for. Remember that, gentlemen.

Great shot, kid! That was one in a
million17!I like Eichel shooting recklessly the first half of the PP to get them thinking Eichel... and Olofsson had the whole net.
-
-
Great shift, GLO. If Eichel buries that, we're all aglow. Alas... good save.
-
Jenner v. Olofsson in front of the net is not a good matchup. Doesn't make sense.

Reinhart. Perfect example of what I keep referencing in the sign him or not thread.
If you have the capability rewind the game to the 32.5 second mark remaining. Columbus gets the puck off us and starts up the ice. Reinhart doesn't skate full out and try to slow it down or backcheck he literally stops just outside their blueline hoping someone will do the job. Literally stopped flat on the ice to watch and wait (and then presumably went to the bench but he ended up off camera so I don't know). he does this sort of thing constantly.
That is disappointing. A turnover and pass for a breakaway is all well and good, but once Sheary committed to the wall we needed Jack and Sam hustling back. Spoiled a really good period.
-
Wicked crossover broke Hutton's ankles, it appears.
-
Who got caught up ice looking for a change instead of backchecking? Not Eichel, but on the other end? Was that Skinner at the end of a shift?

We're also significantly better at home than on the road.
(Pay no attention to the homestand coming out of the All-Star Game break)
