Got some time to kill for a bit... game on!
I'm not thinking about one-timer goals, but have we even gotten a one-timer shot on net in the last 5 games? It's either a broken stick, or blocked by a forward, or off the heel, or wide of the net?
Grant, too, eh? Well, who is left to kill penalties?

I do hope that they don't rush anyone back (here's looking at you Jack, ROR). No need to miss even more time as a result. We were weathering the storm well and hanging around the middle of the standings. Hope we can scratch out 3 points in this home-and-home.
Also, really like Carrier's game. Hope he gets a goal tonight.

Also- are Baptiste and Schneider legit missing front teeth or are they wearing funny mouth guards?
Late last season the Sabres and Sens made a big AHL swap. Varone, Gauthier-Leduc, some others? Schneider, Sdao, someone others? Varone had no future with GMTM and Schneider likewise with Ottawa. He's a Varone -- an AHL scorer and NHL fringe callup.
Good to see him getting the opportunity because he's been scoring for Rochester.

ROR is out now, too? So 12 games into the season we’ll have lost games from ROR, Kane, Eichel, Fasching, Deslauriers, Bogosian, Okposo, Kulikov, and Lehner because of injury. You know, injuries are no excuse! I’ve lost an arm and a leg, and a leg and an arm, and a hand. I still brought balance to the Moulson. LightSabres, ignite!

I'm intrigued.
It's weird to think about -- but he's PP, 1st line, PKer. He can't risk taking stupid penalties in close games. Now is the time to go up to him after whistles... reach out to that beak of his and ... "boop." What's he going to do? He can't do anything. Retaliation is taking their 2nd best (Bergeron?) player off the ice.

The Rat's only job there was to get people to stop thinking about hockey and start thinking about him.
But now he's a 30-goal scorer and Crosby linemate on Team Canada. He's gone from Rat to Splinter (admittedly, still a rat) the past couple years. Maybe taking him off his new game and making him think too much about his old game is a new way to go about it?

I don't like saying this, but I like Toronto's game. They hound the puck and quickly establish themselves in the offensive zone and cycle the puck to the open man - up or down.

I'm not sure what you mean by including those two. I'm not familiar with them, but neither were prospects in the time frame I'm talking about were they?
My point here was that not too long ago, we were really deep on Defense. Throwing away Ruhwedel (who I think has a 2way with Pittsburgh and probably still in the AHL) that's still 6 NHL starters. I'd probably take those 6 over what we have right now.
Agreed. Right now defensive depth is our Achilles heel. Burgdoerfer, Falk, Fedun, Strachan... fine for the Americans, but we don't want to rely on them for 15 minutes a night here. And I think Nelson would be better served getting a ton of minutes in the AHL.
A few years previous -- those two were our AHL-signings in response to the postseason injuries to Kalinin, Tallinder, Numminen, and McKee.
