That account is fantastic; thanks for sharing it. And it led me to this one:
The philosophy of Søren Kierkegaard mashed with the tweets and observations of Kim Kardashian.
Yes, Nihilist Arby’s is a gem of the Interwebs. All the better because we’re all a fan of roast beef ‘n cheddars and horsey sauce. And we don’t care that horsey sauce is liquid death.
Thanks for seeing Nihilist Arbys and raising KimKierkegaardashian. This feed is fantastic. For the record – I want us to complete this tank and guarante-Eichel.
But McEichel or not, I’ve seen a lot of things to be hopeful this season from the young guys. (In the midday game @SJ Reinhart expertly pinched a puck-carrier out along the boards. It wasn’t a hit; it wasn’t mean. Instead it was an effortless, perfect positioning play to rub someone out and get the puck back.) I saw several good moments in the Boston game. The future is a few years away, but it is bright.
I think the most disheartening part of this season is that I find myself not watching the entire team. I don’t care about 1/3 of the roster. I’m just watching the efforts and skills of a handful of individual players. I don’t think I’ve ever rooted for any of my sports teams’ individuals moreso than the team itself. It’s an odd disconnect.
And watching the Ducks-Kings game --- we could still have the Kings #2, #3, and #4 defensemen on our roster. It’s the age-old question of futures vs. now. Both approaches are entertaining, but only one is immediately gratifying. The optimistic side says: sports are supposed to be entertaining and nothing more. The nihilist side says: nothing more, like that roast beef sandwich.
And Ducks win. So much for our ex-defense.

In a cosmic sense, we're all irrelevant. And nothing matters.
So cheer up, everyone. There's always that!

I can't say we looked good tonight. But we did look like a scrapping team and there were a glimpses of future skill and promise. I think it's games like this that we were hoping to have all season (pro-tankers or not). Risto pinching in the corner and sneaking up for a shot in 4-on-4. Schaller playing more physical. Ennis whirling and being patient with the puck. Winning battles and foot-races. Yet another goalie making key saves. Even CoHo broke up a cross-ice pass that if he'd corraled it could have been a 2-on-1.
It's the last national game (last one I'll see this season) and it's definitely been painful. But, we beat the Bruins -- so it's good. And I think we have a winning record on MSNBC this season -- which means we'll get another 8 games next year for those of us scattered across the continent.
If nothing else, the (re)building is fascinating. And hopefully the fun ramps up each year hereafter. So peace onward and let's go Buffalo!

Don't be an idiot, Grigorenko sitting makes perfect sense. He has had one game since coming back, they don't want to lose him for the rest of the season to another injury.
Out of those 12 players atleast 6 will be back next year.
Edit: People dissing grigorenko just pisses me of to much :D
Also, Ennis is coming off his injury. Need someone available if Ennis tightens up in warm ups. Grigo can get in the lineup next game... And send down Varone or whomever else.

Hope it's nothing serious and just a matter of dehydration after back-to-back game nights, being down from his demotion, too much exertion, etc.
(And if it isn't serious) I can't help but think this shouldn't have even had chance to happen because he should be in Florida instead.
Again, hope it's just a blip, and get well soon to Mr. Pysyk! There's a top-6 spot with his name on it.

Inconclusive....

Two-minute 5 on 3 for the goal. Reliant on point shots and not anything down low. And gave up a 5-3 breakaway attempt. Still. 1-1. So we've got that going for us

The Armia AND Lemieux as opposed to either/or feels like a high price now. But, it'll be fun to see a top line winger with some young centers (Reinhart and a center to be named later) in the next few years.
I'd say it's a little more disheartening to lose Lemieux because I believe in having a stockpile of gritty, high-energy, slightly-loose-screw players (who are likely to miss plenty of games because of their style) to make a playoff series miserable on the opponent. And -- who have the skill to net two-three timely goals in a round. Or was that just his dad?

Time to head up over the border for the Sabres in Vancouver pilgrimage (great venue for a game, by the way). Sabres winless in the last 13. On the other hand, every game I’ve seen on TV or attended in person this season, they’ve won (4 or 5-0, I forget). Something’s got to give.
Let’s go, Buffalo!

That last pass by Samson cements it. He is one smart MF.
He's a savvy mofo to be sure. That pass off the boards to where only Domi has the play... Beautiful and patient.
-
Reinhart keeps the stick on the ice and nonchalantly ends it. Wait... Hope again?
-
Fasching to Larkin...nice.
If memory serves earlier in the game Fasching didn't see a drive to the net for a tap-in. This time he had the vision and Larkin buried it. Nice goal.

Canada wants the Reinhart line out vs Eichel. And Domi-Reinhart-Duclair have dominated that matchup.
-
This is like when you sim the first season of GM mode hoping for mcdavid/eichel, and the sabres keeping winning and you get annoyed.
In one season I managed to get Bennett, Honka, and (a created) Eichel. And traded Hodgson back to the Canucks for Reinhart. It's a pretty sweet gig by 2018. That said:
For the record I am pro-tank: I figure we can use a top line center. However…. We kept Zadorov up. We’ve assembled a bona fide 2nd line (top for us) of Moulson-Girgs-Ennis. We have goalies who can steal games from time to time.
The tank charged, crushed the initial lines of barbed wire, dodged a few impact craters, and has nosedived into a trench. It is pinned by artillery fire.
Hypothetical scenario: McDavid, Eichel, and Hanifin are off the board.
Given a 4th overall pick and our the current prospects in our system. What kind of player (not whom, it’s much too soon for that) are we taking, and why?
-
Kane - Stastny - Stewart
Ennis - Hodgson - Stafford
Foligno - Girgensons - Deslauriers
Mitchell - Larsson - Flynn
Ehrhoff - Myers
Weber - Pysyk
Ruhwedel - Mcbain
Neuvirth
Enroth
As long as Stastny is a temporary fix. I just don't see it in him. And no to McBain. I'd rather have a vet FA. Even a Tallinder type.
-
Weber tap-in. All well and good. I can see him having a spot as the #7 D for a couple years.
-
Ennis is our only consistent offensive threat.
Sad, but true. Is Girgs-Ennis-Stafford our default top line next year? Barring an amazing FA signing. (CoHo and Stewart on the 2nd line).
-
Rinaldo with a solid elbow on Ruhwedel. Good misconduct call. But no Tropp to crush him. Will we take advantage of the major?
-
This game reminds me of the Regier/Rolston era. Time to get through the 3rd and move on.
Although, if I'm John Scott, I keep a video of this game to show my grandkids when I played on the first line.
Sadly, Comacher's turnover was worthy of demotion from the Ennis line. Or wait. Was Ennis demoted to the 4th line of Scott-Leino?
I really hope a top-2 pick this summer is worth fielding a lineup of 3 NHL-ready talents.
Why am I watching this game to completion?
(Girgs, McCabe, Rasmus) are the reason I'm watching. Not NHL ready, necessarily.

If the Kings had made it into the playoffs, there'd be enough for a full complement.of defencemen.
Oddly enough, no #1 center.
