Zucker shouldn't, either, although he's a bit older so he want to settle down in a good hockey town and make good money as he spins down. Eventually, GM Sheevyn can give him the Okposo-trade-to-a-contender treatment because doing good things for your veterans and for other GMs is how you something something. If I'm McLeod or Byram, I'm going one of two routes: arbitration or looking for a nice offer sheet to let the ownership know I don't want to be here. If I'm Quinn or JJP, I'm also looking for one-year offer sheets if eligible for it, and let the suitor know I'm open to signing an extension with them. Nothing long-term here.

2025 NHL Trade Deadline: March 7th, at 3pm Eastern

Carolina gets the best player in the trade, but for how long? I really like it from a Colorado perspective, though. Necas is having a very good season and will look even better on MacKinnon's wing than he did in Carolina. Drury gives them a FO-winning center for depth. And there's recent news that Landeskog is making strides... which means he'll probably start skating with the team soon and be ready to play just around... mid-April. -
Rantanen's salary was too large this season for the Sabres, let alone an extension. Plus, getting a third team to retain half the salary would've made it a very difficult trade. Also, "Too old! Too old to become a Sabre."

Does the fact there has been no movement actually signal hope?

Always two there are: the master and the apprentice. The fool and the fool who follows him. -
Took on 4.5M and gave up Hall, the lottery-winning cheat code, for pick 65-67? That seems kind of weak.

It is amazing how shoddy a PP looks without Zucker on the ice. Unless you can get a 2-on-1 rush goal by catching the PKers on a change, the PP strategy is as follows: 1) No matter where you are on the ice or the situation, pass it back to your own blue line or behind your net. 2) If behind your net, stand there for 5 seconds to allow everyone to get where they need to be, and start the winger on the big loop back. 3) Get to mid-ice and make a drop pass all the way to your own faceoff circle. 4) Pass to far wing and enter the zone. Immediately turn your back to the middle of the ice and get caught along the boards and lose possession. 5A) Repeat. 5B) Or, possibly chip the puck down low, then back up, and make a weak cross-ice pass for a turnover.

One good half-period of hockey (first half of the second). One uffda-style carom off Dahlin for the SHG, a weak goal by UPL, Power on the guy but not really tying him up for the GWG, and then Calgary simply skating circles around them for the final 20 minutes. This team needs a goalie to steal them one. Wolf was excellent. He's played 100 more AHL games than Levi has.
