He had probably the most talent in a college offense EVER. I’m not worried.

No other result tonight can move the needle here but LA vs Anaheim tomorrow night is a chance for the Kings to be "eliminated" and/or the Ducks to get some points. Vancouver (3), Columbus (2), Ottawa (2), Los Angeles (2) and Detroit (1) can all be elminated by the end of the day Saturday. The earliest the Sabres can clinch last in the standings is next Monday.

Big update just now. San Jose and Calgary were "eliminated." Every team got two points because of our loss. Devils also won so they moved four points tonight.

West Coast Scout, done.

There’s definitely a run blocking problem but I do think you can upgrade from both of those guys. Singletary will take a good amount of work to get back on my good side after that drop in the KC game.

There are other players who I want as much or more but I would be ecstatic if we ended up staying at 30 and landing one of Etienne or Harris. One part because as a fan it’s selfishly more entertaining when you have elite players at skill positions ... but I also think the hate on running backs is overdone. It’s an important position. It can shape your entire offense if you have a dynamic back who can play in all aspects of the game. From my perspective not having a good back killed us in that KC game (as well as having zero pass blocking and zero pass rush). This is Josh’s “sophomore season” (first time teams will have good tape on him). You want to avoid that slump and a good way to do that is to provide insurance in the way of an upgrade at RB or TE (latter doesn’t have any options tonight).

Guenther, Beniers, Eklund, Lysell, Power, Hughes, Wallstadt and Clarke are the guys I view to have star potential but I’d also venture a guess that at least a couple outside of that group or outside of any group we come up with end up as stars, as well. But I guess this also depends on what you define as a star because I’d give prime Phil Kessel that moniker.

The HOF debate is going to be very interesting for him. His 2010 season is an all-time season. Most wins by an American goaltender (sad he fell just short of 400). Silver Medal and Olympics MVP on his record. I hope he gets in and I hope nobody ever wears 30 again for the Sabres.

If you trade down ... you also have to give up things ... the first overall pick (or whatever pick you have). No team in the history of this league has ever thought “we should trade away a top pick because there’s a guy we love in the teens.” If you love that guy in the teens ... take them at one.

I think the more logical approach here is to trade up from the second round to make it happen ...

Tomorrow is a "big" day. Two points on the line for every team because we play. Then there are an additional two points available for New Jersey, Detroit, Vancouver and Calgary. Calgary, San Jose, and Detroit could all be "eliminated" tomorrow.

Big win by the Ducks tonight for those keeping track. A few updates to the original post with standings. San Jose is up 3-2 on Arizona in the third and would be another team to pickup points.
-
Darcy Kuemper is the only one under contract next year. I have some interest in him but I have more interest in Garland.
-
Arizona is the team I'd target with Risto. They've only got two defensemen that will definitely be protected (OEL and Chychrun). See if you can get a package centered around Risto for RW Conor Garland.
-
I completely forgot the first draft pick in Predators history finished his career here
-
I’m in total agreement on trading Risto for a goalie if that’s feasible but I don’t know that it is. I’m not protecting Bjork and Tage over Asplund.
-
Ottawa wins putting them four points from “elimination.”
-
The first six words of the post you just responded to say “I don’t believe it’s a tank.”
-
All of us idiots went into a frenzy 😂
-
Absolutely and nobody really should. I just hope he’s okay and has the right people in his corner during whatever it is he’s going through.
-
Surprised there’s been no discussion about the alarming situation developing with Jonathan Drouin.
-
They can only fall two spots in the lottery meaning drafting “7th or 8th” would require them to be anywhere from 5th to 8th in the lottery. To do so, they’d need to “pass” 4-7 teams in the standings by the end of the season. To pass four teams they’d need AT LEAST eight points, probably closer to 13/14 points.

There is a VERY large difference between saying “if Olofsson is in your top six” vs “if Olofsson is one of your six best forwards.” Especially in the context in which you used it - responding to someone’s lineup projection.
-
The chances of that happening without a trade are almost zero.
-
I think they take Miller but because they play different positions I don’t think the conversation matters a ton in the 7-3-1 format. I do think they’d take Asplund over Borgen. They will get a TON of defensemen around the league.
