How exactly does sitting around not playing for a few weeks as an 18 year old help his development?
Juniors has never ruined a prospect... forcing them into action too early in their career has... countless times.
Juniors may not help them much either if they are already well above that level.

Granato: *nudge, nudge* "So Zach, that leg is feeling not so great today right?" *wink wink* "Might just have to put you on IR for a few weeks."
Stashes Benson to prolong "tryout" and bring up Savoie from Rochester to start his tryout.
Adams and Granato playing Chess here, not checkers fool!

What's their pk ranking?
6th best at 89%

Sabres have taken the 3rd most penalties in the NHL this year with 37 and are 5th on a per game basis with 4.11/game.
Last year they were 24th in terms of penalties with 2.89/game.
They need to reel in their discipline a little bit.

We need someone to put together a highlight pack of his time here in this latest call up
Someone take a picture of an NHL gamecheck compared to an AHL gamecheck.

Cup and Char pepperoni is so freaking amazing and makes a huge difference on pizzas compared to WNY and most other places that don't use it...my only question is, "How can you not use it?" because it is so much better.

UPL gonna be up for at least the next few weeks. I'm not the biggest UPL supporter, but he has played mostly solid and at times spectacular. Rebound control seems to be much better as well. Pucks seem to be sticking to him far more than normal.

Sabres are a very good road team, no reason why they can't win this game.

That’s a tad overblown.
Essentially if you only have so much time to teach and train; you are forced to budget that time accordingly. Their offensive play was likely greatly improved by the coaching focus. At some point it likely became more beneficial to keep going down that path and just try and out score your problems than attempting anything major mid season.
This year they already have a solid grasp on the offense and thus is likely less focused on. The defense now takes center stage on the curriculum. Since most of the team is the same; many of the lessons from last year can be built directly off of.
In the end my guess is by the time they had solidified a great offensive attack, the step back required to help the defensive play would have imploded the season. So they tweaked things and patched stuff as best they could and very nearly out scored their issues into the playoffs.
Agreed...the goal last year was to have the young players realize they had high-end offensive NHL talent and get them to be confident in that. Because under Kreuger they got beat down into not believing in themselves...take Dahlin for example...dude was a shell of himself.
So his first goal was to get them to believe in themselves again and let them go play and score. And score they did. Now that they know they can go do that, the goal is to get them to play more defensively and teach them how to make sure they aren't giving up as many chances as they are creating. And working on the PK. Sometimes trying to work on everything at once ends up really being not working on anything because the focus is too scattered and not enough time is spent on any one thing.
In terms of this teams psyche, it had to be that way because Kreuger had beaten them down so badly. I mean he had the youngest roster in the NHL last year and it got even younger this year.

Never understood why it’s wrong for players to bet. As long as they don’t bet against their own team it shouldn’t be an issue. If a league thinks it’s an addiction they should treat it the same as alcohol or drugs and provide counseling.
Probably because it's all too easy to walk down that slippery slope one day even if it's only on a whim.

Well damn...that escalated quickly. If he keeps it up he is going to be driving a Pinto...1978 style.

Sample size
That is valid, but they look way way better than they did at any point last year. I think at worst they finish middle of the NHL and not at the bottom this year. More likely somewhere between 9-13 from they way they are handling things.

Made it look dicey and like we are holding on by the seat of our pants but they are remarkably good at closing games out when they have leads after 2 periods. Still have not lost in regulation going back to the start of last year. They are 30-0-4 during that time when leading after 2.
Yes, it looks dicey and like they are going to allow the other team to win, but it almost never actually happens. We don't have to like the way it looks but it's hard to argue with the end result.

Was coming to say this. Greenway is a defensive monster.
Apparently he was hurt the whole time he was with us last year so we didn't really get to see his full game...I have to say if this is what we get night in, night out, I kinda like it...I like it a lot...

If TNT, Tuch and Cozens crash the net that is some serious beef for teams to deal with. Skinner can sift in and get loose pucks.
I’m not saying they use a net front guy all of the time but once in a while to change it up.
They could inject this system every once in a while to screw with other teams’ PK. If it becomes successful then use it more. Mitts might be a guy to do this on PP2. Benson has some clips from the WHL where he operates well from behind the net.
Gretzky probably got a few hundred points from that location. If you install a player with the threat of a Michigan goal that adds another layer.
Another "Sneaky B" like Briere? He was so good from back there...

The PK has been a revelation so far. They are everywhere...disrupting passes, using their long sticks to force bad plays, moving guys out from in front of the crease...one of the more pleasant surprises of the young season so far.
Now just need to get the PP going which they will at some point I am sure.

I think they realized this towards the end of last year and they are working on some things now. Haven't got it completely figured out yet but once they do they should be in far better shape.
The PK has been a revelation tho.

Just saw the weather report: Some areas have gotten over TEN INCHES of rain today. We've gotten about 3" with probably another 3" by dawn.

If you look at the schedule, they play almost no Monday (1), Tuesday (0), or Thursday (2) games all season. Lots of Wed, Fri, Sat. A few Sunday (4) in March and April. I'd guess almost always on the same 3 days of the week makes it easier for people to find the games and watch. But it means they're often playing 3 games in 4 nights, with a 3 day break after.
I'm going to assume this is requested by teams to aid with attendance?
-
their games seem pretty spaced out compared to the Sabres...guess 10 less games per season help with that
-
This is a little crazy...Zemgus has tied O'Reilly and Soupy Campbell for points as a Sabre. O'Reilly I could see, but I thought Soupy had a lot more points than that...

If by Toastier you mean one is Ice Cold and the other is so frozen that it would take weeks to unthaw, I guess Granato.

UPL turned into UPL with 10 minutes left in the 3rd...luckily Tage got the ENG

That was a complete ass whooping starting in the 2nd period. Game could have easily been 6 or 7-1 if not for the Isles goalie making unreal save after unreal save.
