Bisons fun fact:  Long time Bisons broadcaster and Buffalo baseball HOF member Duke McGuire was one of the teammates in The Natural.

Another fun fact...I was at the filming of The Natural as an 9 year old kid along with my mother and aunt.  Way up in the upper deck.  Never made it in the movie...it was the end of October on a freezing cold night with gusty winds and they kept yelling to take your coats off for the scenes because we had to pretend it was summer...needless to say my Mom and Aunt didn't play along for very long and as such I think that precluded them from even considering me, who followed directions 😂

Movies definitely are not as fluid as they appear...endless retakes of the same scene until they got it just right and then long waits to set up the next scene.  I can see why people on movie sets get close...they have tons of time to stand around and socialize with other people.

I haven't said anything on our hockey site about this yet. I've been following closely, and have most my adult life, statements from individuals that made allegations and/or claims on UAP's/UFO's. A multitude of events coming forward now, including released footage from us military aircraft is really fascinating. The fact the Pentagon is even allowing such footage out there is a hurdle that appears to have been overcome.

But David Grusch's testimony to the congressional committee is very disturbing to say the least. My wife and I watched it live, others in my circle, family, friends, work peers, also watched it in its enterity either live or recorded.

None of us were really surprised by the testimony, but one thing sent chills down everyone we chatted with about it, the following question and answer.

Congressman Tim Burchett asked Mr Grusch if anyone had been “murdered” as part of government efforts to cover-up information.

“I have to be careful asking [sic] that question,” he responded, citing an investigation into whether or not he was the subject of retaliatory action for whistleblowing. “I directed people with that knowledge to the appropriate authorities.”

Murder is murder, I don't care what the subject matter is. Murder to hide a program involving US tax dollars in a cover up, is Murder 1, punishable by death. A few of us spoke on it at length this evening. We all agreed. We also viewed Micheal Herrera's interview, as well as the confirming of the Bob Lazar story from the early 90's.

It appears the largest event in human history is unfolding, the confirmation that not only that UAP/UFO's exist, non human biologicals came with some of the craft recovered, but also that our government may have murdered US Citizens in an effort to hide the program and the private corporations involved, and the most disturbing fact, our citizens barely bat an eyelash about any of this.

Everyone who hasn't had their head buried in the sand or simply refused to believe no matter what evidence they were shown already knew that. I'm shocked the government is finally coming clean for the most part but that likely means it's because there is an agenda over the next decade or two to start revealing more and more things to us but in small measured doses so as not to freak the population out.

Denial?  Hold on for too long?  Holy *****, what is with wishing that teams give up?  They have a player that is still arguably one of the top 2-3 in the league, a 2C that is still 1C level, an all star on the wing.  And they aren’t ready to give up either.  They just did what they should be doing, cashing in every season that they still have top end talent on the roster.

The losing will come.  It always comes.  There is no reason to hasten it along.

No reason to prolong the rebuild either when you aren't winning sh!t

It doesn’t matter that they’re very unlikely to win a cup. No team is likely to win a cup. They’re still going to go for it best they can every year until he’s retired.

If they wanted to go it for the best they could they would be getting younger prospects at some point not doubling down on aging vets. Karlsson has a great season again last year but it was his first great season in a while and at his age it's more likely that was a one off than something you can expect again.

When you have one of the greatest players of all-time who has been more than generous to the franchise, you do what you can to compete every season. There is no long term in Pittsburgh, it’s try to win a cup every year until Crosby retires. The decade after that doesn’t matter.

They are very unlikely to win a cup at this point with their aging roster.

They are past their prime, but Crosby, Malkin, Letang are still dangerous. Now add in this past decades Norris champion and they got better. Playoff noise making better? I don't know, but adding Karlson isn't a negative imo.

It isn't short term, but it is long term. They are simply in denial at this point. It happens to a lot of teams with aging vets that have had a lot of success...trying to hold on for too long...look at what the Blackhawks have been going thru. They should have learned from their mistakes not make the same ones

I am skeptical that Eric Johnston and Conor Clifton are enough to fix the defence and I really hope that both Adams and I are right about Devon Levi. I certainly would have liked to see him acquire a better insurance policy in net and a more certain top 4 defenceman.

I also think Adams has done a tremendous job fixing the culture, installing hope for the franchise, building a cohesive hockey department, and accumulating a fine collection of young talent, and that the Sabres are on the verge of being successful, but I guess we need another thread for that.

So a guy that is good enough to start 78 games as a 2nd pair Dman on the best regular season team of all time isn't good enough for us?

    Now I've heard it all.

  8. Pittsburgh desperately needs to rebuild but they keep acquiring aging players instead. Short term sure he will help. But how much? Probably not as much as they think.

Hope they enjoy still struggling to make the playoffs next year before the bottom drops out.

  9. Driving to Mammoth Caves in KY from Louisville this morning and it's raining pretty good...trucks 3 wide are basically blocking all the lanes and going 10 mph under the speed limit.

And to boot Mammoth Caves in the Central Time Zone so we are going to have an hour to spare

Yeah but we are not getting worse either, I think Clifton is an uderrated signing.   Greenway might surprise us next year.

Goalie with Levi is a question mark for the entire league, but I believe in him.   Personally I think Comrie might make a good back up this year.

Any dude who played 78 games on the best regular season team in NHL history is a major upgrade for the Sabres D corp.
