  1. Looks like the local Buffalo media missed the opportunity to congratulate the University on their findings, here. Guess they missed this one nice bit of news in their own backyard. Congratulations, UB. Maybe you'll get credit in due time. http://www.buffalo.edu/news/releases/2010/10/11885.html
  2. Oh Danny Boy... The pipes, the pipes are calling...
  3. Ennis needs to stay healthy to use his speed game. Danny is a little more versatile. I haven't seen much of Briere this year, though.
  4. Nice poke check by Miller on the first shooter. He definitely won that play. Vanek drifted in lazily and put the poor goalie to sleep before sniping him. Miller grabbed the second save high glove side, so what I thought was his weakness wasn't a weakness on this play. Pominville sniped the goalie in the same spot. The goalie appeared to be still frozen by Vanek's shot.
  5. Gerbe gets to wear the fur coat. Miller gets to wear the leather chaps. Our old friend Brian Campbell gets to wear the coonskin cap. Otter did a good job too.
  6. Let's see what they've got. I'm thinking Buffalo will win in a shootout.
  7. Been there, done that, and recommend it. I think that the Sabres are worth watching very closely. They're certainly making news. I even saw this week, at my local Tractor Supply Company (TSC), a feature article in Acres USA, that referenced the Sabres. I won't summarize it, but here's a quote to sum it up: "'In Tioga County, Pennsylvania, in 2010, a (xxx)ing wastewater storage pond leaked and spilled into a pasture where 28 cattle were grazing. Eight of the 11 calves born the following spring from the herd were stillborn or were born so weak that they did not survive.'" It won't be long till we hear about the Sabres in National Geographic. ;)
  8. Lindy Ruff doesn't need to "roll up the rim," to be a winner. If you see him at "Tim Hortons," please buy a coffee for him, and toast, to all of the fine memories that he provided. Thank you for representing Buffalo, Lindy! Hope to see you around town! Hope you get a great new job!
  9. I saw that and edited. Thank you for pointing it out. Anyhow, I can't tell what type of rosewood it is. It's the type of wood used on the backs and sides of fine acoustic guitars.
  10. Miller has been impressing me all season long. Tough to say he's over-rated, now, imo. He's taken some lumps, and still shows passion.
  11. Nice first win for Rolston. Great team defense. Vanek 3 pts behind Stamkos for league lead.
  12. If anyone is a weasel in this little fable, my choice would be Rolston. He snuck his way right into the job. Darcy might be very smart, sizzl'er, He's maybe an owl? The media are badgers. I like that.
  13. I haven't had a chance to post since the Barcelona-Milan first leg at the San Siro. It was the most interesting game of the season, for me, so far. To sum it up, it was like Barcelona were playing checkers in attack. The refereeing was remarkable - the best I've ever seen, quite honestly. There was very little diving, after Busquets was carded early for play-acting. But by checkers, I mean that Barcelona had 5 players in central midfield at a time: Fabregas, Busquets, Xavi, Iniesta, and Messi. It was tiki-taka gone mad, but they had very little of the ball inside 30 yards of the Milan goal, and rarely passed the ball farther than 10 yards. Barca tried to force everything through the middle, and Milan were happy to wait patiently for the inevitable forced ball to Messi, which they cut out neatly, and hoofed the ball away leaving plenty of energy and time to prepare for another intricate, patient, but ultimately toothless Barca buildup. Anyways, 2-0, Milan. Also, Bale continues to pour it on, I see.
  14. Is that a natural fit for Porter? (for those who watch Rachacha)?
  15. Plain speak is hard for me. Keep Vanek.
  16. Vanek's doing an amazing job this season. I love watching him. I'm looking forward to seeing how he does under Rolston.
  17. He'll never have to buy a drink in this town again, seriously, I hope.
  18. Heard this at Elmwood and Allen this morning. Looks like things are getting pretty serious
  19. You make a good point, PA. It's time to put this movement into freak-mode. Has a fan-base ever greeted the team at the airport with boos? Has a city ever thrown a parade of boos for a team? Don't throw me in that quiet briar-patch! I'm scared of quiet!, eh, Ted Black?
  20. He told me that he wants us to get mad, because he hates Pegula. He wants to see Buffalo rise up in one voice and boo. He will reward us with self-esteem. I asked him about the Peace Bridge, and he told me to get my head out of the clouds!
