  1. The demon of apathy possesses my SabreBrainSpace.
  2. Sabres current sit at 46 contracts towards the 50 contract limit. Power + Johnson + Levi + Portillo takes us to 50/50 contracts. Levi might be ready, but I would expect Portillo to remain at least another year. So that's 49 contracts. (We can still sign junior and Euro players as long as they stay out of NHL, but we'd likely make all of those contracts start next year anyhow). Anyhow, it looks like we will be more likely to ship guys out than ship them in.
  3. My bad. I shouldn't post when tired and without double checking hockeydb. But, it's still true that KA hasn't *drafted* a goalie, even despite having 11 picks this year. Yes, he did make getting Levi a priority in the Reinhart trade. Do we know why that trade took all night long into the next morning? I thought that what we got was what was agreed to during the first round anyhow. Was KA trying to trade up to get Cossa or Wallstedt, and thus holding off on making the trade final? Getting back to JBot's drafts, do we expect any of Cronholm(D), Kukkonen(D), Worge-Kreu(D) or Cederqvist(LW) to get signed someday? 2017 turned out OK. Davidsson seems like a bust (injury problems too) and wasn't signed. But we got: Mitts, UPL, Bryson, Weissbach, and Laaksonen. I expect Fitzgerald to be the first RD injury call up, but Laaksonen could probably play in the NHL in a pinch. Fitz is playing more like how Borgen was playing when we wanted him up here. Maybe if Miller gets traded we'll see Fitzgerald?
  4. If Cal's reason to sign in LA was to play immediately, well, he gambled wrong. He's spent years in Quick's shadow. Even now, he still hasn't supplanted Quick. This year they have 10 GP for Quick and 8 GP for Peterson.
  5. GMTM traded for a #1 goalie and drafted several prospects. At this point, like I said years ago, JJ is still better than UPL. But, GMTM sucked at getting a real d-core. GMJBot finally assembled a mediocre d-core, but couldn't get the forwards fixed, and preferred to draft d-men over goalies. GMKA is working over the forward position, and brought in some d-men, but sucks at goalies. And he hasn't drafted any goalies either! In 2021, he drafted Isak Rosen in the 1st round instead of either of the top two goalies who were still available. Yzerman took one of the goalies; but what does Yzerman know about assembling a winning team? [Crossing my fingers that Levi and/or Portillo save the day. Portillo just got pulled last night in a loss, giving up 2 goals on 3 shots in the 2nd period.] Anyone else having problems streaming Sabres games on WGR and WWKB? The last two games the pregame show played, but as soon as the game was about to start, the stream switched back to ESPN national garbage programming.
  6. Yeah. Duffer is great. I like Ric Seiling, but he just doesn't seem to have a lot of excitement most nights. Duffer has a ton of energy and is really knowledgeable. The other night, Ric and Don were joking(?) that Jobst should be pronounced DJobst, because it makes no sense that a J should should sound like a Y. The better question is how the J sound came into English in the first place. Pick up an old Bible and see the letter J representing Y all the time. How did Yeshua turn into Yesus into DJesus? I know that hockey guys are supposed to know hockey and not necessarily know linguistics. And that would be great if they did know hockey. Don Stevens keeps on confusing Peterka(77) and Pekar(12); how do you do that when their numbers are so different? So, yeah, Brian Duff is a great fill-in.
  7. Quinn is a much better prospect than Krebs. Every game Quinn is generating lots of chances. Every game, Krebs seems to have maybe just really one good pass. Listening to James Patrick, his junior coach, talk about Krebs, it is clear that Krebs is a classic over-achiever. He's not blazing fast like Weissbach or Peterka. He's doesn't have the passing or shooting of a Quinn. He doesn't have the size of a Murray. After seeing some really bad passes, I question his vaunted "high hockey IQ". When Sean Malone was centering Quinn and Peterka, the line was really rocking; with Krebs at center the Amerks have kind of been struggling. When the Eichel trade went down, I was hoping that it was Brisson who was coming back. So far in Roch, Krebs hasn't really impressed me. I see 3rd line max upside at the moment, and that after some time. Kinda like a NJ McCleod kinda guy. At least with Tage Thompson, we all saw his reach and his wicked shot. What does Krebs have? What am I missing? Quinn is a much better prospect than Krebs. Every game Quinn is generating lots of chances. Every game, Krebs seems to have maybe just really one good pass. 8. The problem with this particular clip is that it doesn't show that Perreault was on the ice for over a minute (1:13) before this goal with several rushes back and forth. Most players today wouldn't have had the energy to rush down the ice like this after a shift like this. I think that there's a fuller clip out there; I found a copy, and the goal comes at 1:13, counting the face-off.
  9. Hello, didn't Hertl undress the Sabres D just like this a few days ago? They were saying the other night that Bobby Hull clocked out faster than McDavid, at least on pure straight ahead skating. Pavel Bure and Mogilny could fly too. Perreault would make highlight plays almost every game, scoring on many. He was an amazing and truly unique skater and puck handler. It's a bloody shame that we don't have more highlights on film and available on places like YouTube. Perreault's 250th goal had him literally outdeke the goalie one-handed with a defender literally draped over his back. That was some goal! There's blurry film of it available somewhere on YT. It's a bloody shame that I only caught the end of his career. What Perreault lacked then and would really lack today is the 24/7/365 dedication to making yourself great like McDavid and Crosby have. Also the goaltending today is so much bigger and better that Perreault would have had to work harder to score as many goals. I was thinking the other day that UPL would probably have made it to the NHL back in the 80's, but now looks lost in the AHL many nights.
  10. Cap compliance day/Start of season? Christmas break trade freeze? Olympic break? Missing dates all.
  11. Losing your job is serious business. Lock-downs/Mandates putting middle class folks out of business is serious (non) business. Hospitals shutting down wards because they've fired too many staff members who refused the mandate is serious business. BigBusiness (Amazon, etc) consolidating their power even more is serious business. People dying due to lock-downs is serious business. Countries like Sweden and now Croatia have said enough is enough and that their countries will no longer proceed with policies which seem to be counter-productive.
  12. The Israeli study said that ONE booster could possibly provide MINIMAL improvements over natural infection immunity. It seems to indicate that the perpetual booster train is going off the rails. That's why internally the CDC put the kibosh on boosters but was overruled by the ex-Facebook exec.
  13. Real research was quoted above. Not just pundit pablum.
  14. Total non sequitur. He is not a "prisoner". Is he a financial victim of clueless politicians who lust for control? Yes.
  15. Never explained why. Just saying that something is "dumb" isn't an explanation. Like I said, many around here cannot tolerate facts.
  16. This is mostly backwards. Here's the study out of Israel which has a mostly vaccinated population: Quote: --------- Conclusions This study demonstrated that natural immunity confers longer lasting and stronger protection against infection, symptomatic disease and hospitalization caused by the Delta variant of SARS-CoV-2, compared to the BNT162b2 two-dose vaccine-induced immunity. Individuals who were both previously infected with SARS-CoV-2 and given a single dose of the vaccine gained additional protection against the Delta variant. ----- A number of other studies explain why natural immunity is better. It always has been better. You might recall posters saying that people who were born before circa 1957 don't need the Measles jab because most of the older folks had natural measles and thus natural immunity. Same with Chicken Pox, but different year. Vaccination cannot reproduce the whole natural disease state, and thus it cannot produce a thorough protection almost always. Furthermore, mom's natural immune protection can temporarily transfer to a newborn, something which hasn't been seen with vaccination as far as I know. That's why they rush in like fools to shoot up newborns, and why they have a mad number of childhood vaccines; because almost no one close to baby has natural immunity anymore, putting baby at greater risk than before the vaccination programs began. Finally, many vaccines including the Covid-19 vaccines can actually impair your natural immune system. Many top scientists have warned that these vaccines will cause ADE just like the Dengue vaccine which killed at least hundreds of Philippine children and got that country's top doctors prosecuted for malpractice. I quote: --- Here's the problem with Dengvaxia. Typically, a vaccine works by triggering the immune system to make antibodies against the virus. These antibodies then fight off the virus during an infection. But dengue is a tricky virus. Dengue antibodies don't always protect a person. In fact, these antibodies can make an infection worse. The dengue virus actually uses the antibodies to help it spread through the body. So a second infection with dengue — when your blood already has antibodies in it — can actually be worse than the first; a person is at a higher risk of severe complications like plasma leakage syndrome. --- So, many of the most educated in science are playing it safe and avoiding the Covid-19 vaccines for now, especially if they already have natural immunity. Now go ahead and attack me as usual. I know that facts cannot be tolerated here.
  17. Removing the captaincy, OK. How it was done, not OK. Let him have his surgery and say that you need a captain who is ready to play. Trade him and name a new captain. Switch to rotating captains. Several better options.
  18. I quote: ----------- Warning Signs of an Abusive Person 2. Controlling Behavior. ... Acts like you don’t have the ability to make good decisions. Hides controlling behavior by pretending to be concerned for your safety. 5. Isolation Makes it difficult for you to go to work or school. Tries to cut off all your resources. 6. Blames Others for Problems. If there are problems at school or work, it is always someone else’s fault. If anything goes wrong in the relationship, it is all your fault. Won’t take responsibility for own behavior. [removes captaincy, fires several GMS] 9. Disrespectful or Cruel to Others..... Insensitive to pain and suffering.... Doesn’t treat others with respect. Dismissive of others’ feelings. 15. Threats of Any Kind. ------- I notice some parallels. And I quote: -- Besides, you know, lying to everyone, Holmes fired people ruthlessly and hastily. After terminating one of the lead engineers at Theranos, Ed Ku, Carreyrou writes that Holmes said: "I don’t care. We can change people in and out. The company is all that matters." In another instance described in Bad Blood, Holmes told the company, "The miniLab [a Theranos product] is the most important thing humanity has ever built. If you don’t believe this is the case, you should leave now." To outsiders, Holmes was charming, and she soaked up praise from press and investors. But behind closed doors, she was a toxic boss who exhibited narcissistic behavior. -- Sound familiar? And look how easy it was to change out O'Reilly, Reinhart, Risto..[and Jack]. The Sabres are likely going to be last in the league yet again.
  19. Here's a qualification for any new captain. Unite the team against the sociopath owners and go on strike until they allow Jack to get the surgery that he wants as a HUMAN being. That would be real leadership; not just some smiling, eager beaver yes man like Cozens seems to be. Adams and the Pegulas are disgusting humans in how they've treated Jack. Absolute scum. A real leader would recognize this. Kinda like how real parents wouldn't aid and abet a son murder his fiancee and cover it up.
  20. I was in another timezone when the first plane hit and I was asleep. I woke up and took the red pill and haven't looked back. I no longer live in an MSM mind-control haze. Y'all know where this thought leads, so I'll stop here because I know that 99% of y'all will now attack me, a patriot, yet again.
  21. I think that they said that Prospects report on the 15th with the prospect tournament starting on the 17th. JJ Peterka, Jack Quinn, Lukas Rousek , Linus Weissbach, et cetera. Time for an AHL TV subscription. BTW, posting in Firefox seems to be broken for me. Maybe it's a plugin. Anyone else have this problem? Moderators? So, I posted using Vivaldi instead. .
  22. Yup. Rasmussen seems low. Perhaps 1/2 Rasmussen - 1/2 Plante.
  23. Nice post. I particularly like the Jack Quinn to Ric Seiling comparison. I'd say that this works for pre-eye-injury Seiling, hopefully. Mittelstadt's ultimate production seems more comparable to Eric Rasmussen. Asplund's upside is Christian Ruuttu. Tage's upside is Joel Armia. You're correct that Dylan Cozens is hard to find a Sabre comparable. What about Alan Haworth? Dylan is bigger, but in regards to speed and scoring ability, doesn't Haworth seem like a match? Haworth also had a number of penalties which seems to indicate some truculence. Don't sleep on Samuelsson. He's gonna be a player. Krupp seems to fit the upside profile better. I like Bryson, but I doubt that he makes it to Krug level. Is Ryan Johnson going to be Mark Psysk 2.0 on the Left? Anyone have any thoughts on JJ Peterka?
  24. As said in the interview with Jack's doctor, this procedure isn't recommended for football players. So that bias might be bleeding through to the hockey operations. It also seems like the Sabres are the ones trying to force the issue. They see Jack as damaged goods and want to trade him out of here, so it seems. And as said in the interview, the Sabres (and Bills) only care about Jack until he's, say, 35 years old. Jack cares about Jack until the day he dies.
