  1. Exactly. And Bogo last played when the Sabres as a whole team were stinking up the joint even worse than now. You were missing my sarcasm. :-)
  2. So, our defense should be Falk - Fedun Guhle - Nelson Antipin - Risto Extras: Scandella - Redmond Beaulieu Ditch: McCabe - Bogo Georges - Tennyson It's a good thing that we gave up Enzo and Foligno for Scandella then. I guess that they eye-test isn't always right...or there's that thing about stats and small sample sizes (Redmond).
  3. I like the pattern too: Scandella - Patteryn Guhle - Patteryn McCabe - Patteryn Risto - Patteryn Dahlin - Patteryn The funny thing is, as I recall, whenever Bogosian is healthy, our defense gets better. I'm sure someone out there can dig up our record with and without Bogo. I bet it is indeed better with him.
  4. Going a bit into left field, Call me a softy if you want. Call me a wimp if you want. But these hits like Chara on Pacioretty, Lucic on Miller, Hartnell on Antipin, they make me sick to my stomach. I can handle playing hard, playing strong. I can even handle a little wrestling/fighting. But this stuff is plain wrong. I heard the Instigators talking about how a serious hockey player would go out and try to injure Austin Mathews. Those bums should be off the radio. Y'all give your opinions. Some of you do it quite frankly. So, here I go with the reasons for my opinions. It's not that it just that goons bother me, it's that it bothers God's Spirit in me. There I go into left field. But, my stomach turns, and God's Spirit churns when it sees mindless violence. So, it's not just my opinion. I can speak somewhat authoritatively that God doesn't like goons and thugs. King David had his mighty men of valor; ninja like soldiers who lived by a code of ethics. I'm sure Andrew Peters has never heard of such a thing as he's seen on camera getting into a fracas with youth players while still on the bench. Sorry. My mind goes into many directions and weaves it all together into a nice basket case. :P
  5. Obviously none of you have been badly injured before. Let me tell you, it sucks. You NEVER completely heal. You can be in pain FOREVER. Whiplash and concussions can cause permanent BRAIN DAMAGE. It sucks even more for the average joe who doesn't have a million dollar salary. Still, this needs to stop. Hartnell is such a dirty player. Kaleta got run out of town. Why not Hartnell too? These useless goons need to get out of the game. (At least Kaleta was actually a useful player who very rarely made a stupid play that got the strictest enforcement possible because, well, Buffalo. We could use another super-fast, tough, 4th liner who can kill penalties and actually score some goals. Kaleta was a TEAM player who gave it all. We need those kinds of players on the Sabres _again_.)
  6. Cornel, Karabacek, Stephens, Martin, Kasdorf are all long lost. I have some hope yet for Stephens. Kasdorf is toast when his ELC ends this year. It's too bad that it we cannot (or are not nasty enough) to buy out some of these ELCs. We could use some more space to sign more projects (like college free agents; like Glotov, Bryson, Hagel(?), et cetera). How did Philly get Philippe Myers? QMJHL UFA. We need our scouts to do more, be smarter, have more luck.
  7. I know the answer. I remember some of that game. So, it wouldn't be a guess. Hints: He's in the Hall of Fame. He scored a lot of goals. He rarely got the credit that was due. He was traded away for peanuts to a hated rival. He played with Wowie. He played with some really great players. It's funny how so many great players can be on one team and yet stink in the standings.
  8. Just one question. Is it Sick-urr-ah or Sih-kur-ah? Exactly. People keep on talking about him being a left shot and assuming that he is a LD, but I thought that he's been playing RD.
  9. Good to know. I hadn't heard how much he had improved at Minnesota. Glad that others don't see Casey's skating as being anything less than excellent. The agility and speed are quite evident. The hockey IQ is there too. I see what you're saying. Good point, I see some of that in Jack too. It would be interesting to see them skate together.
  10. Awesome work JBotts. Does anyone else see a little bit of Grigorenko in Casey's skating? Don't get me wrong, Casey's going to be everything that Grigo was supposed to be and more. It's just that the general lack of strength seems to show with him skating more erect and not always on top of his blades. Age, gym, and a skating coach should solve all of these issues. So we have: Mittelstadt, Borgen, Peterson, & Glotov added this Spring. We need to get Asplund signed next as soon as his season is over. Casey Fitzgerald is going to be a senior. His numbers have dropped, but I think that part of that is the rest of the BC squad not being as strong. Should we try to sign him now? What about Budik and Bryson? How about some college UFAs now? Word was that Brinkley has closed the door on Sabres.
  11. I don't mean to be a chief boar by posting so much, but if we sign Veronneau, Rick Jeanerette can say after every goal: il es un verrat de voleur ! or as Homer Simpson said: Mon 'tit verrat!
  12. NO! Don't Do it. Every year they waste picks on QBs who can't get the job done. And thus every year they trade a poor finish for a poor pick which ensures another poor finish which ensures another poor pick. Don't Don't It. Just do the BPA and have ammunition for a trade down the road. [i can't stand football anymore, but I cannot help but hear the hubbub.]
  13. Full list of 2018 Hobey Baker Trophy Nominees: ...Casey Fitzgerald...Casey Mittelstadt...Daniel Brinkley...Dev-in Buffalo...Max Veronneau... Both of our Caseys were nominated. I say sign both NOW. We had Daniel Brinkley at devel camp. Sign him ASAP. Max Veronneau is a free-agent scoring machine. Sign him ASAP. Dev in Buffalo...Gotta love the name...Sign him! And yes, it's official that both of our Caseys are out of the Final NCAA Men's DivI Hockey Bracket. It's too bad that we didn't get Will Butcher last year. He seems to have been a difference maker for Jersey. Stealing from a post on another forum [who probably stole it from elsewhere.] We need to actually sign a goalie out of Notre Dame for a change. The top 10 [Hobey Baker Nominees] were 1) Dylan Sikura (W) Northeasten U - Blackhawks* 2) Cale Morris (G) Notre Dame - Undrafted 3) Adam Gaudette © Northeasten U - Canucks 4) Henrik Borgstrom © University of Denver - Panthers 5) Louis Belpedio (D) Miami U -Wild* 6) Colton Point (G) Colgate U - Stars 7) Jimmy Schuldt (D) St. Cloud U - Undrafted 8) Tanner Laczynski © Ohio State - Flyers 9) Daniel Brickley (D) Minnesota State U - Undrafted 10) Dylan McLaughlin © Canisius College - Undrafted
  14. No Captain, Not my Captain. Sam has yet to prove that he is C material (pun intended). I'm mean it took him all of Fall 2017 to grow his hair back and start to play well in 2018. Too bad Kaner didn't steel Sam's girlfriend Delilah...
  15. You can't understand what's going on when listening to Don on the radio. I've said it before, but, Rick Jeanerette was awesome on radio because he was RADIO ONLY for decades. He seems to have slacked off a bit on the precision since moving to TV. But I get so confused listening to Dan Dunlevey sometimes, especially when his "he scores!" is so excited for the _opposition_. Don usually does a good job with this though, "Oh no! They scored." or the like for Don Stevens is good. Don Stevens has a great voice and talk all day, as he has to do on road games as Ric Seiling only does most of the _home_ games. [You don't really appreciate Ric until you listen to a road game. ] It's just that Don is even worse than Dan in regards to knowing which end the play is in and whether I should cheer for the goal or not (hint: listen to the crowd reaction). I'm sure that he's fine on TV, but I won't pay for cable TV; and being in IT, my eyes need a break at night anyhow. [Maybe if the Sabres get really good again, I hope that the NHL will wise up by then and allow EVERYONE TO STREAM GAMES!] And Oy! That guy who does the Amerks' post-game show is HORRENDOUS. If there is time left on the game night schedule because the game finished early, Tim[?] says that same !#$^!@#$ thing over and over and over and over and over and over....again. Ugh! A couple nights I've fallen asleep listening to the game only to wake up to that, and being too groggy to get out of bed to turn off the radio; I'm brain damaged now. :wallbash:
  16. I mentioned the defense because Guhle and Nelson are in Buffalo. They were getting big minutes and playing well in Rochester. Some say that the Amerks tailspin began when Nelson got called up.
  17. alot vs a lot ect vs etc. vs et cetera (and pronounced correctly as in ett-sett-air-uh not eksetra) lie vs lay (Rob Ray, are you reading this?) try and do vs. try TO do [you know, the Infinitive thingy.] Any (proper) use of a gerund these days. (Are you reading this Rob Ray?) It really annoys me how much Rob Ray rips on Dan Dunleavy . Dan, and/or the producers, should tell Rob to stuff it. [Don't anyone dox me to Rob!! I want to live beyond today.]
  18. True, but: Danforth and Muzita-Bagenda can play and contribute. They already had too many d-men; and they have Stephens, Martin, & Florentino in Cinci. Paetsch is back in the line-up and considered a very good AHL d-man. I don't know status on CJ but I would expect him to return to the Amerks. Justin Bailey, and even Nylander, are playing better. I don't think that it's all doom and gloom. But, yeah, it would be helpful, understatement, if Guhle, Nelson, Baptiste, O'Regan, Criscuolo, & Griffith returned.
  19. It could be as simple as Buffalo considering E-Rod to have graduated to the big leagues. Buffalo wants to make it clear that players get rewarded for hard work and good play. Sam and Jack aren't going to Rochester either.
  20. I just got back from today's game (3/4). Bailey looked good at times. I don't know why Muzita-Bagenda was banished to ECHL for so long. He's big, skates OK, hits, and had 2 points today; Mike Greer comes to mind, and no not for the obvious reasons. Nylander had a bad give-away. I didn't see much from him but he got an assist along the way.. Sean Malone looks small for some reason, but he blocked a shot at the point. In fact, all of our centers look small. He was on the ice at the end of the game and had an assist on Porter's empty-netter. Danforth had a nice score on a break-away; another case of why is he banished to ECHL. Our D-men is what seems to save/drive the Amerks. They aren't super stars, but get the job done well enough defensively. No Paul Coffeys in the lot even though Paetsch and Redmond played. I forget who it was, but I was so happy to see a d-man rush the puck up ice once....There was way too much back-passing at the opposition blue-line. Our wingers can forcheck, so I don't know why they had so much timidity crossing into the zone. I was really disappointed to find out that Guhle and Criscuolo were called up. I kept on looking for them in the warm-up and didn't see them. Darn. It was a messy game. Not a lot of good skating or passing by either team. Several times Bailey looked ready to go, but the pass wasn't on his stick. Maybe I'm getting old, but the PA system sucks. I couldn't make out any of the promo crap during all of the EXTENDED stoppages in play. Way too loud. Way too busy. I think that a rap song was using the F word; not good for a family environment. Amerks won 4-2 by the way. I'm lucky to get in one game in a year. Today was celebrate tax refund day.
  21. Bing Bing Bing Winner! <begin hockey sacrilege> I've been watching old 70's Canada Cup. Today's Sabres would KILL those teams. They had no "CLOSING SPEED", they couldn't forecheck, they couldn't backcheck, they COULDN'T PASS at all. And of course, our giant goal-tenders would kill even the best of the midget stand-up goalies. Perreault was always good for a few big rushes and even a goal or assist, but he himself couldn't forecheck, backcheck, nor win ANY face-offs, and he floated. I think that in today's game, Perreault would drive a coach up a wall. And oh my, why did they invite Bobby Orr in 1976? He couldn't skate anymore! His best move was to stand behind his net and wait for Perreault to swing by to rush the puck himself. ...By the 1980's and the Gretzky era we start to see some real hockey. The Oiler's were a revelation in the 80's because they had team speed and could pass, something that the 1970's teams didn't have a lot of. They scored in bunches. The 1970's teams had midget goalies but couldn't score like the Oilers because most of the 1970's teams just plain sucked. [N.B. The Buffalo Sabres 1976 game against the Wings was amazing!] </end hockey sacrilege>
  22. Except Wayne Gretzky was never drafted into the NHL. How's that for privilege? We drafted the BEST Tsujimoto however. That can never be topped.
  23. "The island was colonized by the Dutch in the 17th century, followed by an influx of Han Chinese including Hakka immigrants from the Fujian and Guangdong areas of China, across the Taiwan Strait. The Spanish built a settlement in the north for a brief period but were driven out by the Dutch in 1642." Maybe she's aboriginal Taiwanese, Dutch, and Spanish? Does she write in Traditional Characters? Because Screw the young Chinese. :P
  24. Why do people keep on saying that it's too late for the Sabres to make a "hockey trade"? The trade "deadline" is not a HARD deadline. The teams can trade all they want. It's just that the playoff teams cannot add to their rosters. 31 teams. 16 make it to playoffs. 15 teams left to make "hockey trades". :wallbash:
  25. My family has roots in North America/USA for 400 years. So, I guess that makes me a Russian Bot (because I'm a patriot).
