  1. I'm not sure you can call what he does hockey.
  2. He's considerably better. Granted, I had expected that "considerably" to amount to $2M.
  3. C'mon Florida....bring...me...Huberdeau!
  4. I continue to not understand Tampa's decisions on the blue line.
  5. They were so fun. And then the owner decided Harden wasn't worth an extra $4M, so they traded him for magic beans that never sprouted. Such a shame.
  6. It's definitely not great, but if Durant could play with Westbrook, he can play with Kyrie. Of course, Westbrook knew what defense was, so there's that.
  7. And with that, the Leafs have now gotten out of all of Lamoriello's bad contracts.
  8. Jordan covers for Kyrie defensively, while Kyrie and Durant both have complete offensive games. Kyrie could stand to be a better playmaker, but still. What's not to like? Again, this assumes Durant returns to form.
  9. No, but I don't think they had the cap space to add Durant and Jordan if they had to give Russell the max.
  10. Well I'll be damned. That's actually a reasonable AAV for Duchene, even if the term is still scary.
  11. Pavelski makes a ton of sense, but Perry is approaching Okposo-level cooked. He might get there this year.
  12. Well, that's a pretty extreme reaction. He was just nominated for the Vezina, I don't think wanting more commitment than 2 years is out of line at all. I wouldn't give it to him, mind you, but it's not an unreasonable ask.
  13. History would only be on your side if Dahlin-caliber prospects came around often. They don't. He's in the McDavid and Crosby class, he just plays a different position.
  14. What? Projections on Okposo were baaaaaaaad.
  15. You're not wrong, I'm just not sure where we're getting a 2C from if it's not Risto.
  16. Should it be? I don't think so. Players should be paid for what they will do over the life of the contract, not for what they did on their previous contract. One may inform the other to some degree, but it's not a simple merit system at all. A strict merit system gives you Okposo contracts. Some projection gives you MacKinnon contracts.
  17. Prospects like Dahlin who have the rookie season he did are an incredibly safe bet.
  18. Dahlin was significantly better as a rookie than Aaron Ekblad, who signed for $7.5M on his second contract that was good for 10.27% of the cap at the time. 10.27% of the cap 2 years from now will probably be around $8.75M. Unless Dahlin doesn't improve, I think $10M+ is very possible, perhaps even likely.
  19. Can't believe the Nets actually pulled it off. Durant, Kyrie, and Jordan? Assuming Durant can return to form (not a given with an achillies injury), they'll be a lot of fun to watch.
  20. Yea but by then we'll be able to use a compliance buyout on Okposo following the next lockout ?
  21. Sir. You're missing one Vlad Sobotka.
  22. Personally, I think we're better off doing this and then signing Nyquist than trading Erod and/or McCabe for Hoffman. Hoffman himself probably commands more next year than Nyquist and Erod combined. Edit: More to this. Hoffman is a tremendous PP weapon, but his even strength play leaves much to be desired. Nyquist is the opposite.
  23. I disagree. I think he's a legitimate depth player, even if he's not a prolific goal scorer personally. Obviously Hoffman is better, but 3 years of data say Erod is legit.
