  1. I'd be equal parts surprised if Dubas supported the move and if he had any kind of real say. Lou doesn't strike me as the type to let a 30 year old talk him out of something.
  2. Lamoriello was the GM when they signed Marleau.
  3. Fire Botterill. (Obvious sarcasm is hopefully obvious)
  4. You should like Miller more than you do!
  5. Well, I think Miller is being underrated by you and others. He's not my ideal top-6 center, but he's a legitimate top-6 player on a value contract and in his prime.
  6. Fair, but not making moves certainly creates a self-fulfilling prophecy of sorts. Without taking some risk to improve NHL talent, we're unlikely to see better NHL results.
  7. Well. I think the prospect they traded is as much of a prospect as Danny O'Regan was when we got him from San Jose. And a 3rd? I don't care at all about that. It's all about the first, and we can agree to disagree on that.
  8. Is our 1st really likely to be high 2 years from now? If so, I guess I don't care because if we're so bad still than I'll want the world to burn anyway.
  9. In your head maybe. I have yet to see a trade that makes me think this is the case in the NHL.
  10. And you shouldn't have to pay $9M for Skinner. But you do. If Botterill keeps kicking the can down the road, he's going to be unemployed before any Sabres fans even know who these picks are.
  11. He was a 3rd line center on the best team in the league. He's a 2C on most teams, including ours. Edit: Also, the value of a mid-late first should they even make the NHL is a middle 6 player.
  12. Maybe if we improve our team enough we'll be good enough to pick in the 20s before I turn 40. Edit: Also the probability that that pick produces a player as good as Miller within the next...4 years....is really low. Like, 10%?
  13. FWIW, I took him to be making a swipe at the ROR locker room trade return rationalizations, not anything having to do with PK.
  14. Why not to freak out over mid 1st round picks and beyond in a single picture:
  15. It's not dismissing your opinion. But if your issue with enjoying player movement is that it has real world effects on real people, shouldn't that also apply to the draft where real people can't even choose where they work and live?
  16. Actually, most grade out as not even being NHL players.
  17. If you're really going to get into the human aspect of it, then you should probably hate the entire idea of a draft at all, right?
  18. And unfortunately, I don't have faith in the GM to evaluate whether any offers were good. Fortunately for all involved, I'm not going to pull a Liger about it ?
  19. I wanted them to trade the pick, I just can't imagine being so up in arms about who they picked. WGR listed the #31 picks dating back to 2006, and it's a really bad list of players most of whom never played more than a season in the NHL. The odds are both Liger and Botterill are wrong.
  20. Why does a trade have to be framed as goofy? They're insanely conservative. Meanwhile, in the NBA, there's a ton of movement on draft night. It's just more fun that way.
  21. Nobody cares that he has an opinion. He just sucks at expressing it without a blood pressure explosion. He just has to tone it down, is all. They were talking on WGR he has work ethic concerns.
  22. Also since Liger locked the draft thread...NHL GMs are the absolute worst. What a wet fart of a draft.
