  1. 100%. Statistically, it's not even close. The only thing Brady had on Manning is championships, which are a team accomplishment. I'm perfectly willing to entertain the idea that the Brady-Belichick Patriots are the greatest team of all time. But individual player? Nah. Peyton's the best. I do not believe in crediting individual players for team accomplishments.
  2. Peyton Manning is still the best QB of all time.
  3. I don't see any reason not to protect Girgensons, Foligno, Larsson, and Carrier. Seriously, what's the logic to exposing one of them for the sake of Ennis and his increasingly albatross-like contract?
  4. Last year may well have been the high water mark for Ghost, but I also have a hard time believing he's a total washout after how well he played. And he brings a skill set we could really use. Definitely worth a look.
  5. This reminds me a lot of the "it's hard to play with Crosby" narrative from Pittsburgh for awhile there. It's not hard, you just need players who can play off the puck, which we don't have many of. Reinhart and O'Reilly, really, that's it if we're talking skill players. I'm 100% with Robviously here.
  6. Zemgus. Probably would with O'Reilly, too.
  7. Are you sure people have expectations of Gorges, let alone high expectations?
  8. For all the debate about whether selling this year gives the wrong impression to the kids, stuff like this is just as bad if not worse. I never want to hear Bylsma say anything about needing to earn ice time.
  9. Trade, hope to re-sign at a cheaper price point for a year. I'm really not willing to go multi-year at his age, but I'd like to have him back.
  10. I can't remember the last time I relied on the host for my beer. Even if they say they have it covered, I never trust it. Nothing worse than getting stuck drinking corn water for the big game.
  11. This is not accurate. He is only eligible for recall on an emergency basis, which requires a certain number of injuries at his position.
  12. Given that we already have an extra 2nd and 3rd this year, I'm interested in adding some 2018 picks for next year's deadline, when we're (hopefully) buyers.
  13. That was by far the least substantive interview I've ever heard Murray give. Culture this, culture that. He's morphing into Regier before our very eyes.
  14. If only forward depth issues on this team could have been foreseeable. Oh, right...
  15. He's competently boring, which though an upgrade on incompetently boring, isn't exactly what I'm looking for.
  16. He is, but I'd rather get violated by a flaming pitchfork than have him as our coach.
  17. Nah, plagiarism is all the rage these days.
  18. I've basically taken the free time I spent on the Sabres and doled out most of it to political things (reading, discussion, activism all included), with the remainder going to grad school applications for a career change.
  19. Nono, I got that, I just didn't articulate my side well. Is some of where I'm at with the team that I think there's a ceiling on where they can go under Bylsma? Absolutely. I'm not going to pretend I can ignore that overarching umbrella entirely. But more to the point, I'm simply not entertained by the product on the ice, and a few sparkly plays by Jack each game, or one extra goal since his return, or even a win, does not change it. Totally made-up numbers incoming, but watching a team play a game that is boring for 90% of the time isn't meaningfully more entertaining to me than watching a game that's boring for 95% of the time. If I watch what is to my eyes a dreadful game that ends in a win, the outcome does not suddenly erase the previous two hours of time spent where I am not entertained. I appreciate the win, but not the means through which it arrived. That's how I got to my "I enjoy following them but not really watching them" epiphany. For some, seeing a win inherently justifies the time investment. For me, that's simply not the case. Plus, as with some others, my free time and energy is increasingly being drawn to "other stuff" which is not only more interesting than the current Sabres product, but considerably more important. So yea, put these two things together, and I'm spending a lot less time here.
  20. If McDavid was allowed a running start like Larkin had, he would have destroyed the record.
  21. Man, McDavid just blew the doors off MacKinnon.
  22. Okposo obviously made Tavares.
  23. Or maybe I just like a different kind of art than you do.
  24. I've had an epiphany: I like following the Sabres, I just don't like watching them. That's about as straightforward as I can be about it. Not a great place to be as a fan.
