  1. If true, what a show. If Gionta was one of the vets, I no longer want him back, even on a one year deal at half the price.
  2. Most likely. 98% likely. But that 2% is still a better chance to be contributing NHLers going forward than Des or Moulson.
  3. Most likely. But in a totally meaningless game, why not see some more?
  4. Malone and Smith scratched. Not that Smith showed anything, but isn't another game of him more valuable than another game of Deslauriers/Moulson?
  5. Emotionally, I'd love it. I think it'd be a great story if he comes back and takes us to the promised land. But I'd still probably rather have somebody new.
  6. Maybe. But I still think we're closer to being good than we are to being Colorado. Edit: Beyond that, if the hockey gods see fit to continually punish the fans for the actions of the owners, then they can doubly suck it.
  7. Yea, $10 million for replacement level tending is less than ideal. Also losing Demers and Goligoski with zilch to replace them. And not for nothin, but didn't Benn win the scoring title last year?
  8. @Freeman: the hockey gods can suck it. They provided us plenty of misery before Black Sunday and The Tank.
  9. Surely, there are less painful ways to break up with her.
  10. Tuesday, probably. If memory serves, end of season presser is normally the day after locker clean out. Maybe they delay a day while evaluating the coaching staff (since last year there was no question about a return), but I'd think if he's not gone by Wednesday, he's not gonna be gone. But I'll hold a sliver of hope until I see him next to Murray at the presser.
  11. 2006 may have had the worst ending, but that season as a whole was a freaking blast. This year has been miserable from start to finish, though, so it takes my top spot--I've never actively hated my team before. I hate this team.
  12. If Bylsma stays, Terry Murray should definitely go. But I really don't think our blue line problems are the result of the position coach. It's also worth noting that while the PK had a bad season, it's been one of the best in the league the past month and a half or so.
  13. I dunno if it was intentional, but this post immediately following Rob's is pretty perfect
  14. Compare rosters before Matthews? He chose wrong. And got lucky. Part of the reason I hate that team so much. Winning the Matthews lottery makes it all fit together. Imagine if they had dropped to the Dubois spot...they're not in the playoffs. That said, I do think their management team is smarter than ours.
  15. With respect, we need not compare ourselves to the Leafs to see how badly our rebuild is going :p
  16. I'm sure some out there are still thinking without the injuries we'd be in the playoffs.
  17. I may or may not have wet dreams about Laine on Eichel's wing.
  18. Hockey sense and vision.
  19. If we're going pure hindsight (and assume Ekblad would have been the pick), I'm definitely glad we didn't win the lottery in 2014. No doubt 2015 stings. Putting aside McDavid's value as a player, if we win that lottery, I think we also land Babcock.
  20. I, for one, would much rather watch Matt Moulson skating around in hot pants, cleaning up ice chips, than play hockey.
  21. I want two things out of this season: Toronto to miss the playoffs, and Matthews to fall short of 40 goals. Not sure I get either.
  22. This game is so bad I've opted to start grading short answers. I hate grading short answers.
  23. Why is it so hard for you to wrap your head around the idea that Murray's assembled blue line isn't as good as it needs to be, and at the same time, Bylsma is asking them to do things they're not good at which makes them look worse than they are? Both of these things can exist simultaneously. I hate Zach Bogosian and think he's a high end 3rd pairing guy, even when healthy. I think Kulikov is, at best, a low end 2nd pairing guy. That's obviously not good enough for a top-4 group if you want to be a contender. It has to be better. But, they are both currently playing like AHL-level players. They're worse because Bylsma is asking them to do things they're bad at (make quick, complex decisions, and fast, accurate passes over a long distance) and de-emphasizing things they're good at (skating the puck). I'm not in favor of firing Bylsma because he can't make chicken salad out of chicken . I'm in favor of firing him because he's been given ground beef, and he's still trying to make chicken salad with it...and is seemingly perplexed it hasn't worked.
  24. Not only was Vanek there, he was goddamn incredible. Really helped cement him as a top-5 pick.
  25. Really pulling for this kid. Friend of mine was one of his lacrosse coaches before college (honestly can't remember if it was modified or JV), and he always raved about his work ethic off the field and his tenacity on the field.
