And Brady has, for my money, the best coach of all time. IMO there's no way to truly separate the two. I think Brady is more important, of course, but I also think Belichick is farther ahead of his contemporary coaches than Brady is of the other QBs. Fair point on the Favre/overrated thing
-
Brett Favre? Now we're talking about someone truly overrated.
-
In a much smaller sample, with some obscene luck in the special teams and turnover department. Scott Kascmar of Football Outsiders has a few articles on how fortunate Brady has been in many ways in the playoffs. Doesn't take away from his greatness or place in history (at worst, top-3 ever), but it is important context. Besides, we all know the Pats ramp up their cheating in the playoffs :p
-
I think you are drastically overstating the gap between them.
-
Which, of course, is the plus/minus of football statistic in terms of value.
-
Maybe when standing still in the pocket, yea. But Rodgers' release when rolling out, or even moving in the pocket, is lightning.
-
Right. Thorny, why don't you want to break down different aspects of play? Hell, we spend seemingly half of our time on this board talking about physical tools and whatnot around draft time.
-
Peyton Manning is the best QB of all time statistically, and it's really not even close. Tom Brady has had the better career due to the championships, however.
-
I just cannot believe O'Brien gave the ball back to Brady with over 2 minutes left and 3 timeouts when they hadn't stopped him all day. Seriously, in what universe is that a good bet?
-
I can't believe Bill O'Brien thought his team had a better chance of stopping Tom Brady with 2 minutes left than getting a foot. It may end up working, but holy hell what a bad decision. HEY LOOK IT DIDN'T WORK. I'M SHOCKED. :wallbash:

Who was it I spent last season arguing with about how good Trevor Siemian was? I HAVE PENT UP SNARK TO UNLEASH! SHOW YOURSELF! Good day of footballing. 2-1, with both wins in-conference. Pats *might* lose, with both of their losses being in-conference. About as good as could be hoped for start to the year.

Elsewhere, the Dolphins are being shut out by the Jets
-
That was a gorgeous sequence of plays.
-
I hate you

He's probably exhibit eleventy billion about why trading up in the NFL draft usually doesn't make sense. I'm not saying he's going to bust or anything, but all throughout the offseason up until now, has he looked like a guy who was really worth trading extra picks for?
-
In the ramp, he made it sound longer than the 55 yarder that we just hit! Anywho, good way to end the half.
-
Dear John Murphy: it's 2017, a 49-yard field goal is not that long.
-
Playoff caliber baby!

I let out a legit guffaw.

GDT - Toronto @ Buffalo: 7pm, MSGB, WGR, 9/23/2017

I think what really pisses me off about the Leafs is how lucky they've been. No team finishing last has won the lottery. Until Toronto. Nylander and Marner? If the Leafs are just a little bit worse those two seasons, they probably don't have either because they'd have taken some other player (they may have taken Marner at say 3, but no F'n way do they take Nylander if they're drafting 4th. That's not to take away from some of the legit savvy things they've done, just that to the extent that luck matters, theirs has been all good these past few years. -
Speaking for myself, it's really just about having a pathological hatred for the Leafs
-
I'm not worried because I fully expected Toronto to be better than us this year, and possibly next year too. They're in the division, but they're not who we're competing against, if you catch my drift. Frankly, unless one of the less-heralded kids truly explodes, we're not going to be on par with Toronto until Nylander and Mittelstadt are ready.

So I don't post as much as I used to, and it's not simply because I've been super busy lately (I have been, but it's not like posting takes a ton of time). As most know, I recently made the move to Ohio University to pursue a new master's degree....and I love it. I love my work, I love the classes, and I'm taking a deep dive into something like I haven't in years. I'm poor, and in more debt...but I'm happy. I'll call it a win.

One of my favorites of the Buffalo shirts.

That Seth Jones quote is my favorite....if we were to get rid of every stat that didn't tell the whole story, we'd literally have zero stats.
