  1. That could have been the case, but I never read anything about him wanting out.
  2. I understand that perspective. But they're in our division. What they do matters.
  3. Am I the only one who finds it downright bizarre that St. Louis didn't want to pay Stastny (given what he signed for), but was totally okay paying Bozak?
  4. I trust Callaway's source considerably more than Eklund. And I don't trust Callaway's source at all (no offense to you personally).
  5. Depending what happens the rest of the way, it might be that he's deadly serious about drafting and developing. Not what everyone wants to see, obviously, but it wouldn't surprise me if he's looking to mostly hit singles while the next wave develops. Did somebody say...tank? :p *ducks*
  6. It's hard for me to describe the anger I'll feel towards Pegula if we accept a lesser return to avoid paying the bonus.
  7. But would Edmonton? I know it's Chiarelli and everything, but does even he have limits?
  8. Leafs fans also ran Kessel out of town. The dumping on Gardiner is a perfect example of highlighting the negative and not giving enough credit to the positive. Look at how O'Reilly gets smacked around by more than a few Sabres fans. Same thing.
  9. Thing is, Edmonton's wingers are worse than ours. Puljujarvi for a change of scenery move? There's nothing there I want.
  10. I think Gardiner is their best by a reasonable margin. Rielly and Zaitsev are petty close. All 3 are top-4 guys, if no true first pairing amongst them. Plus they have Liljegren and Dermott on the way probably this year. No true studs, but again, you can get away with it when you have their forwards.
  11. How I turned "if he was" into "he he ass" I have no idea. That's so off I can't even blame autocorrect.
  12. Neal is almost 2 years older than JVR and 4 years older than Kane. I think if he was getting a deal like theirs he would have by now. Anyway, I'm more worried about the forwards than the blue line too, but it's not like there are no holes on the blue line. Get better, regardless of position. Also, the more we load up on the blue line, the more palatable a Ristolainen trade becomes to bolster the forwards.
  13. De Haan, Enstrom, Maroon, Neal. I would've liked to see a depth move or two by now as well, but avoiding stupid is half the battle on day 1. It may qualify as doing something, but I'm glad Botterill hadn't done anything like giving Beagle or Komarov 4-year deals.
  14. Definitely explains why nobody has signed him yet. I don't see how he can reasonably expext more term than JVR got.
  15. It's not even a day into UFA. There have been some depth signings I'd have liked, but there's still some out there we might be in on. At least give it until midnight :p
  16. That's higher than I'd have liked to pay, but it's not Jay Beagle horrible or anything.
  17. It's also not a rivalry when one of the teams is making the playoffs and adding top centers when the other is finishing last and signing Scott Wilson. I like where the Sabres are headed, but right now, there's no comparison.
  18. This has the sad ring of truth. It might even be the right thing to do. But it's undeniably boring.
  19. I have a hard time believing any of this actually matters on the ice. I'd also imagine every single other player on the team was unhappy in the middle of the season when we obviously sucked and had no chance at the playoffs. But O'Reilly vocalized it, so the knives came out for him. Whatever.
  20. If there's one important thing we have to keep in mind today, it's that a 4th liner simply must get his own thread.
  21. Yea but your soul was doomed anyway, Probably better off without it :p
  22. Do you believe in miracles? Yes!
  23. The same as the Bills/Patriots rivalry?
