Sabres Option: Trading the Pick for a Roster Player
Randall Flagg replied to Eleven's topic in The Aud Club
Sometimes it feels like the purpose of these guys ' jobs is to funnel Sabre players to other teams at severe discount -
The master is beaten at his own game

I've watched him 3 or 4 times and he always looks like the best player on the ice -

Sabres Option: Trading the Pick for a Roster Player

I don't know if we could get someone to make it worth it but I'd definitely be interested in the idea -

Get to know Rikard Gronborg - like it or not

I don't know if the word conservative suits me best, but I'd be comfortable putting money down on being the "furthest right wing" poster on this board, using common parlance My love of sports is deteriorating by the day and has been for a year or so, but this is something I've thought about that could rejuvenate it to some degree. I don't feel attached to people of alien lands like Boston or B.C. or even further coming here and playing sports with "my team"'s jersey on for a paycheck before leaving. But community building and inspiring/training locals to make a true representation of your region champion over others? The desiderium this thought evokes makes me think I'd enjoy it thoroughly It's so interesting spending time in the world and then coming back to sanitized internet communities -
yeh IMO this won't be true until theyre out of playoffs

I think they like Sullivan a lot
-
Not really. He gets talked about like once a month and 85% of the posters talking about him take the stance that it's odd to try and take trivial steps to avoid losing him for no reason when it'd likely be easy to lose someone else who is worse/has less of a future with team

If he's jumping over other toddlers I'm getting a DNA test

I watched some youtube videos on Power, which makes me an expert, and I was honestly a little underwhelmed. And not because I was looking for superstar forward plays. I'd take Eklund

Vegas play some of the best playoff hockey I've ever seen honestly. They don't always bring it, but when they're clicking it's hard to comprehend how the puck can stay on their sticks with all the stuff they do

Sean McDermott's Bills seasons have always ended similarly - a bit of a whimper against competition they just don't hold up to. The good news for us is the steady advancement of that point each year Same for Josh. Season 1 he basically can't beat any NFL teams with his arm. Season 2 he can if they're bad, and he looks like a deer in headlights if they're good. Season 3 he smokes everyone except the chiefs, who force him to revert. No reason to believe josh can't adapt one more time

My fiancé got to interview josh allen for 5 mins today despite leaving her reporting job to be a teacher a while ago.

He's got a lot of ground to cover to pass J*son B*tterill in the worst GM sweepstakes in my eyes.

He looks real good.

Even if I am pie in the sky about a potential Eichel return, it's really really easy to not make this another ROR trade. Don't trade Jack for a team's 5th best prospect, a lottery protected pick, and two guys whose own fanbases were writing off the roster the entire previous season because of how far they had fallen off. Just don't be completely and utterly ***** braindead, and you won't have an ROR trade

Sabres win lottery: Wednesday June 2nd, 7pm EDT
Randall Flagg replied to WildCard's topic in The Aud Club
Fairly excited to start reading about the top 10 prospects after we figure out where we pick. I've been completely in the dark on them all year -
If Eichel is traded, what is your desired package?
Randall Flagg replied to #freejame's topic in The Aud Club
Im meh on Byfield and turcotte. Other prospects I've barely heard of, and then the younger nhl guys like kempe have that stale feel because they were pumped up 5 years ago but never reached the level hoped for. Very rigorous analysis, yes -
If Eichel is traded, what is your desired package?
Randall Flagg replied to #freejame's topic in The Aud Club
I want Boldy, Fiala, Eriksson Ek, Foligno/prospect/other roster player Or something of that nature. The overall profile of my desired trade depends on the team involved, different age or position distributions are possible Lindholm Tkachuk prospect and a 2nd Don't care much for a trade with LA or NYR -
I read the 31 thoughts article before coming here, and when he said that, I thought he was insinuating that the likely outcome was a trade, supposing disagreement remains. I do believe both the Sabres (with the NHL) and Eichel (with the NHLPA) have discussed what their options are if there is still disagreement about the next steps. The likely outcome is a trade." I can now see it both ways, but that was the way I originally saw it. I still think he will be moved and am ready for it

Eakin over Larsson: a big blunder by Kevyn Adams
Randall Flagg replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
It was not the Sabres' biggest blunder, but it had a real impact on the 2021 season, just like many of us liked to repeat would happen over and over and over and over again when Larry was here and people were dismissive of his game and the idea that we might not simply replace him without a second thought He played 15 minutes per game in a shutdown role, almost always on the ice against the other team's top or 2nd offensive line (Matthews, IIRC, was the forward he saw the most out of all NHL forwards last year). He came out of that season a +8. We took that same role, filled it with Eakin and created what many on this forum (almost certainly including people who couldn't care less about Larry) called the worst line in the NHL, which posted tank-level stats and performance and was reluctantly used rather than relied upon, which put more strain on the lines above it versus being a pressure release valve like the Larsson line. Goalies were more important to this season, but as I and others have said a million times, the Sabres love to have a crappy season in which only ~3 things go well, and then immediately blow up 1 or 2 of those 3 things for no reason the following offseason, completely butchering attempts to replace it. With effort and resources that could have gone into fixing the REAL problems, which in turn linger longer than they should. it's the Sabre way, and it's the Sabre fan way that many of them watched with misplaced contentment if not outright glee
