The Stanley Cup Playoffs 2023: First Round GDT
Randall Flagg replied to Eleven's topic in The Aud Club
I don't think you've read enough Sabremike. He recently posted that anyone who crossed his defunct hockey team decades ago should burn for eternity! That's just how he posts lol -
The sort of jump the last sentence here takes from the previous is a discussion probably worth its own thread - we are not Ottawa, and nobody is claiming that had kevyn just gave Savoie to Arizona, we'd be in and we'd like him more A 4 game sweep this year would have been amazing for a number of reasons, I will post more on this topic when I get home

You aren't in the room, you don't get it man! There's more to it than that, this view is as uncharitable as if we dismissed you as a brown-noser This is reasonable but the phrasing of that part of the question is so far away from the point of my commentary that I almost don't want to send this response Just change the word "agree" with "think" And it's not a stupid thought to have. Hence why the question could have been good
-
Wawrow had a good question but kinda fumbled it. "You guys had almost 20 million in unused cap space you will never see again, had obvious warts going back to the earliest parts of the offseason, and got within 2 points of the playoffs. There surely was a path that could have leveraged some of that for two measly points in a way that wouldn't "compromise the future." Do you agree that this might represent a wasted opportunity?" A reasonable question I think

As a member of team "I want the GM to explicitly set these expectations" I think we need to organize and give a thoughtful answer to this. In our locker room, we can tangibly feel in our bones that there is one. But we aren't playing our game right now. We're holding our sticks too tight, pressing a bit. We should take some time to reset and get this right.

You guys remember how the playoffs work, don't you?
-
Brandon Beane and Sean McDermott literally coined "process-driven" as it pertains to Buffalo sports. Kevyn would readily admit that they are a huge influence, rightfully so, on his team-building. The NFL playoffs are much harder to get into, and it is far easier for luck to knock your team astray in the NFL than the NHL, because in the former sample sizes hurt you and in the latter they help you. Those guys, from day 1, put "playoff caliber" on every wall in the building during the regular season. They state that people need to understand at every moment what the franchise is driving for, what the goal is, both at the high level where Kevyn lives and the "we need to make the playoffs right now" level where the players are The 2019 Bills were setting up to make the playoffs year in and year out, and weren't quite championship caliber yet. They still put the signs up, and explicitly told us at every opportunity that those were the expectations. I think kevyn and Don will materially operate in a way that will get us to the playoffs. But they are being weird about this question, and could absolutely say "that year over year thing I keep saying starts now," and can absolutely make moves without the whole thing tumbling down. It's just goofy

Both guys behave bizarrely when the playoff question gets brought up. Granato's answer was better than Kevyn's, but they're both strange all around. Something would have to go wrong for this team to miss again. We understand that this is where the team is. Donnie alludes to this, and says anything is possible, which covers injury bases, but won't complete the sentence. Just kind of weird.

Not triggered: years of following a guy's every move, laughing at every misstep and mistake, ignoring the positive moments, sometimes acting like a spurned toddler Triggered: noticing this and pointing it out -

He won a cup and conn smythe within 5 months of that and the local paper's team still hasn't sniffed the playoffs 5 years later But yes let's emotionally sling some more insults in his direction I'm sure they'll cut deep I don't even think he's great. And I like having enemy franchises. It's fun to root against Tampa and to laugh at their misfortune. That's not really what I see with the topics I bring up though, I see something boorish, imprecise, and a little pathetic -
Are you good? I'm trying to push through a sort of intermediate wall, where I can learn most of the guitar parts for most songs I know and eventually play them well, but feel as if there is a chasm between me and real guitarists

Peterka has some very enticing elements in his game. I'm only moving him as a piece in a trade for a Timo Meier level player The puck is a magnet on his stick in situations where most NHL skaters hopelessly lose it
-
I think ventura and karmanos are the only front office/coaching staff guys we have (that I know of anyway) that have served in their current roles on playoff teams before

A 2C on a cup contender? Hehe

Our beloved leader laughed at his minus on a goal, didn't bother mentioning his team leading "pluses" all year and would probably call you a caveman for using the metric if you wanted to mention it Like you say, when vegas missed last year it was all on Jack but when they get the one seed, at absolute best you hear crickets. Then they lose one game and it's a pile on. Brainlet stuff -

What does he think he is? He was on McAfee a couple days ago and it was the most mature and down to earth I've ever heard him. I came away from it genuinely rooting for him. Sometimes I believe that Sabres fans deserved every bit of the last 12 years they got. I will never forget going out to eat in Erie county on a random Tuesday in December of 2018, a non game night, and the next table over spending 10 minutes calling Ryan O'Reilly a drunk cancer piece of *****, just look at the Blues, last in the league lol -
